Avenged Sevenfold City of Evil
I will admit that Shadow's vocals were rather weak, but the instrumentals are great. I don't think the riffs were drab at all, and the solos were well thought out and fitted the feel of each song. I especially enjoyed the acoustic ending of sidewinder, which i thought freshened up the album a little. The second half of the album definitely beats the first half, which all sounded rather similar. The second half has much more variety, including the song Strength of the World, which i liked because of its old-western feel. Overall, i thought it was a good album, my only complaints are that Shadow's vocals were unfortunately not up to par due to

Dream Theater Systematic Chaos
Very good overall, its interesting to see how this album turned out seeing as they didn't start out with a concept in mind. I liked the dark eternal night and enemies pt 1 the most.

System of a Down System of a Down
So ballzy! I love it. Daron gets a guitar-straight-out-of-hell sound out of that thing, and Serj's opera singer on crack vocals add a huge energy boost to this album. The other albums are good too, but this is my favorite just because its so awesomely heavy. I really like know and PLUCK. You really can't beat the riffage on this album, its great.

System of a Down Toxicity
I love this album. They retain all the heavy riffage, crazy drums and psycho vocals from the first album, but add more music and depth to it at the same time, along with some nice Armenian flavors. I especially love the creepy modulating chords of Forest, the beautiful chorus and crazy verses of Chop Suey, and the song Needles just because its has so much energy. Definitely another win album for SOAD.

Nevermore This Godless Endeavor
Nevermore is one of the most under appreciated bands out there today. Their songwriting, music, and riffs are genius. I love how loomis blazes through diminished scales during solos, which gives these songs such a panicky, dreadfully awesome mood. The riffs that these guys invent are some of the ballziest ive ever heard. And what a drummer Van is, goddamn. I'd say this is their best album so far. I've listened to this cd countless times and i still enjoy every minute of it. Bravo, Nevermore.

Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet
I have listened to this album about 20 times now and I'm still not bored of it. This band makes amazingly beautiful music, and they don't get their heads up their own asses with extremely technical parts or ridiculous time signatures. The last three minutes of anesthetize with the vocal cannon is definitely my favorite part of the album, but I enjoyed every song on this album. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4.5 and not a 5 is because i thought sentimental dragged on a little bit, but overall its a superb album and its my new listening obsession.
