In my opinion, a lot better than Vessel (which is still great). The only difference between the two is this one just has more songs I like. Vessel contained a lot of the songs off this album that I enjoyed and just added some I didn't hate. He classifies himself as ?agnostic gospel? and made some pretty serious music. At the time of writing this review, I?ve only listened to the album three times, and it?s already left an impact on me. The melodies are beautiful, his combination of strings and piano are haunting, and the lyrics are moving. Small Wonder came out of nowhere for me. I was driving back from a concert and my friend started playing them off his iPod. I didn?t even know who it was, but right away I knew this was an album to get and to love. So far, this has held true. I know it?s early in the game, but this very well might make it into my top 10 of the year.rThe Avett Brothers Magpie and the DandelionThe Black Keys BrothersThe Black Keys ChulahomaThe Black Keys Rubber FactoryThe Head And The Heart The Head And The HeartThe World Is a Beautiful Place... With 2012 releasing a large amount of sophomore slump albums (see the xx's coexist, Two Door Cinema Club's Beacon, the list goes on) and few sophomore albums released by bands I listen to in 2013, this album had me with mixed feelings when I first heard about it's release. 'Cavalier' dropped and I liked it, but it didn't feel like James Vincent McMorrow, it felt more like James Vincent trying to do a James Blake album. It was good, but just not what I expected. Then the full album came out. I've been listening to it pretty regularly and it's grown on me. Especially since it has a pretty strong winter vibe to it. It's nothing I see myself constantly listening to year round, but definitely something I can see myself coming back to time to time.Local Natives HummingbirdLorde Pure HeroineNight Moves Colored EmotionsNoah and the Whale Peaceful, the World Lays Me DownP.O.S We Don't Even Live HereS.
