I'm hugely stoked to hear such a keyed-up, frenetic and DENSE deathcore album come out of Australia. Sure, all the hallmarks of the genre are here in spades but where it succeeds and excels is in it's predatory delivery and a deep sinister undertone. Introspection and personal relationships? Nope, aliens are invading the earth and we're all well and truly fucked. Try and listen to the end of Earths Steriliser without succumbing to the desire to whip your pants off and run out into the gathering dusk to try and scavenge for food and weapons.

A mesmerizing and meditative piece of work. Must be absorbed in it's entirety.

Disgusting, dense, gross, euuuuurghhh. So damn good.
Jesu Why Are We Not Perfect?
Kardashev Progression
Physics and metal - I like bands who value brains and heft over hair and Alcest fan fiction. Tier III - Galactic Achievement riffs hard, that science robot vocal on the outro with the underlying guitar.

DJ Shadow The Outsider
Grouper Ruins
Kardashev Excipio
Really looking forward to what these guys do next. A small step back from Progression but their ability and ambition is still here. The Chiliagon is a clear winner but Displacement has real moments of sciency-heft about it too. Now if they just went and took their time on something horrific that would be rad.
Nailbomb Point Blank
Planks The Darkest of Grays
Log Lady vs. well written gray-crust-sludge? Yep that'll do me thanks very much guvner.

Claim the Throne Forged in Flame
What do Ensiferum, Alestorm, Amon Amarth, Within Temptation and Turisas have in common? I blame them all for stale, derivative albums like this. Points for production and technical skill (except singing obv). Negative points for originality.
Internal Nightmare Chaos Reborn
Nothing stands out on this album. This band has been at it for a while now but I don't hear anything exciting from them, it's all rather derivative and unchallenging, both in structure and theme.
Ne Obliviscaris Citadel
God-fearing Andre Rieu doppelganger fronts BTBAM/Opeth cover band and cobbles together album from disparate riffs and interludes. Hailed as next big thing by legions of super-intellectual, LARPing, velvet wearing pedants. Crowd funds world tour. Crowd goes wild. Crowd froths at mouth.

1.0 awful
Claim the Throne Ale Tales
Nothing says Perth like cliche Folk Metal - and by Perth I really mean Mundane.
