Wye Oak The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs
This is the record I always knew Wye Oak were capable of, but didn't expect them to be able to come together and produce. They have come through with an unabashedly confident effort that, coupled with their years of experience (see their catalogue of certainly solid but not quite exceptional albums), shows them finally blossoming as a band, realizing the force that they've acquired the potential to exert. Highly recommended if you like: resonant, silken female vocals, tricky rhythms, soaring melodies, at times deft, at times clamorous guitar-work, gorgeous vocal harmonies, immaculate production, and the occasional injection of glitch-y and/or noisy electronics.

This album is somehow even more overhyped than LEMONADE. I expected this to nearly eclipse his self titled, based on all of the praise it's been getting. Sure, it beats overgrown hands down, but it has a lot of excess fat and ultimately fails to reach the heights of his debut.
