| Action's characteristic humour doesn't quite come through on this record; a real shame given it's one of his most attractive qualities as an artist. The punchlines often fall flat and sometimes he tries too hard to appear funny, most notably on "My Right Lung". The smooth production is definetly a saving grace, although I sometimes find it's more simple nature underwhelming, esepcially given how much I loved the experimentation on Mr. Wonderul (an album I believe to be heavily heavily underrated). Still, that beat on"9-24-7000" is just too sexy. It sounds like it could be used for the opening credits of some police TV drama. |
