Even without tripping what Raja & Simon have made here is a quintessential journey through global culture, the influences of world music & a uplifting journey. Simply put this album is both anthemic, atmospheric and has an insatiable groove like no else. The best electronic album of all time.

Like Bohren & Der Club of Gore taking a class in swing stylings. Fantastically bleak,
haunting emotive dark "doomjazz" in a class beyond that of the touted Kilimanjaro-ect.

Soundtrack (Video Game) Mass Effect 2
Easily the best of the 3 mainline games soundtracks, the actual compositions are mostly character based and therefore focus on creating a orchestral set piece that lasts a good 7-8 minutes, often bringing this into being more developed, better layered and more concise in it's movements / mood. The Suicide Mission Ost is sensational.

Beautiful album for the most part. Solar Plexus was really out of place amongst such a tranquil trance record, and Orbitus Teranium was both very boring but incredibly annoying. Flaming June is possibly my favorite trance track ever, and The Road to Lostwithiel is such a gorgeous, lust, mystifying track that I could listen to it all day. I'd say it's a step below Ima, but still fantastic, the next 2 albums he would do would deviate a fair bit from this, but combining these songs with the more chilled out songs on Movements in Still Life can make a sensational playlist.

you'd never expect to hear seconds after crushing riffs. 15 minutes of Grind with more
changes than you can count.

Neptunian Maximalism Eons
Impressive music, incredible atmosphere and the sheer scale blows my mind. It is so bloody rhard to listen to all the way through - it does at some stage end up overstaying it's rwelcome. Can't say it is one I'd repeat listen to often, but even just 1 or 2 tracks from rthis does the job with it's incredibly oppressive, tribal, apocalyptic lustre.

Ablation Possession of Your Soul
Taking a lot of RTL / MoP influence, taking it up one notch in aggressiveness, cutting any
bullshit. Really solid thrash, riffs just smash through - the final track wouldn't be out of
place on AJFA either. Vocally this is more aggressive, taking a Hetfield meets Sepultura /
Teutonic thrash approach, clean lines clearly recall Hetfields type of over pronouced words,
while being met by quick low growls. Suffers a bit from poor mastering as this was just a
Demo recording since reissued on Bandcamp.

This was of a good upbeat, shredding standard - the solos on this EP slap in a way only Alexi knew how to, the energy is infectious. You can hear the influence that Dissection had on his playing pretty evidently when you compare the cover of Where Dead Angels Lie to their past work. rRest in peace, you might be gone but you will not be forgotten.

BT Movement In Still Life
This album fucking slapped back in the day. The first two tracks are really sorely dated, in
fact skipping both of them really improves the flow of the music. Madskillz & The Hip Hop
Phenomenon still slay, amazing pair of tracks together forming a badass groove. I saw a
scintillatingly hot stripper dancing to the Hip Hop Phenomenon when I was 17, so I'll not
ever forget that track anytime soon. The next few songs ebb & flow from dreamy to fat
grooves. One of my favorite tracks here is Godspeed, which immediately lampshades that
immaculate and legendary hook from Flaming June (For me BT's best track).

Satellite & Never Gonna to Come Back Down were the most popular off this, and really do break
the flow of the album again, they come across like a weird mix of BT & Assemblage 23. The
album ends on a track with chunky, bass almost DnB influence grooves. All up a great album,
but no-where near ESCM and especially Ima.

The thing holding this back from a higher rating is the more lousy production quality on the horns section. It doesn't quite capture the atmosphere or grandeur of its successor.

Dio Dream Evil
Dohlmen Dohlmen
Solid album, the riffs are nothing too new or interesting. On a whole their influences tend to go between the typical Sabbath stoner /doom stuff on Istria to groove metal influences (Down, Crowbar etc) on Foculone & Mama Chieta. Cundenna was very skippable, can't say I enjoyed it, feel if breaks up the flow of the album too much, was rather fillerish, not a help when the album is only 30 minutes long.

Sometimes the vocals get in the way of the vibes, honestly prefer synthwave to just be the background of my drive home at night time. Dark All Day the track just slaps instrumental!
Gunship Gunship (Instrumentals)
Gunship have some nice vocals, but sometimes you just want those pure retrochill synth vibes and this hits the spot.

Still not back to their best, some of the tracks fall into the pitfalls of their more recent releases, however some form has been found. Return of the Pistolero is a banger of a track, sensational Juno jam at their very best.

Kamasi Washington The Epic
Nothing really original, but a none the less pretty great all round album that is just far far to everlong. Rating this in one sitting doing nothing else would probably see me never bothering to finish it. Having said that I've seen him live and that was a lot more interesting, with the best of his material + improv.

Nils Lofgren Acoustic Live
Nils Lofgren Crooked Line
Nils at his best, some very good honest rock music here, not quite up to the grade of The Boss or Neil Young's best but still very good. A Child Could Tell probably the standout. Lyrically diverse, one song dealing with the remorseful pleas of a drunk driver after causing a fatal car crash, while another deals with a child's ability to see the changing fortune of a neighborhood recluse.
Nils Lofgren Breakaway Angel
Nils actually finds a bit of form on this one, more variation and a fresher take. Recommended track: Heavens Answer to Blue.

Antidote (FIN) Total
Thrash Metal riffs that are very reminiscent of Never Neverland era Annihilator quickly dropping into Pantera esque Grooves, with a vocalist flying between low almost King Diamond like vocals & his best Phil Anselmo impersonation. Some tracks here a chock a block with heaps of highly irritating samples thrown in at for seemingly no constructive purpose. Cool at times, other times laughable. Drums are incredibly in the back of the mix, bass non-existent. The Song Woe Betide them however out and out slaps, shows the band had a lot more potential, but never met it.
Antidote (FIN) The Truth
Solid, if not a bit worn out stuff. At times it ends up plodding along but it brings to mind Stone, better vocals here but inferior guitarists & riffing. Nothing too exciting, more consistent than the follow ups, but without an absolute banger of a track like Woe Betide Them.

Not horrible by any stretch but Tony Martin neither has Ozzy's charisma nor Dio's chops - a very blase vocalist who cannot match his studio outputs. Anno Mundi must be one of the most boring "Epic" songs ever.

The cover of Happy song is better than the original, however their cover of Sweet Child of Mine is fucking horrid. Rest of the album is typical of their fare, improving most pop songs they cover, the quality of the record dependent entirely on the songs chosen usually.

Pandemonium (US) Hole in the Sky
Step up from the debut. They tend to take on a "speed metal" styling here, the extra aggression and energy is well welcomed as these dudes could create some very catchy riffs. Bass again is mastered very well, and always audible. Generic lyrics, lousy vocal performance take this down a notch. Recommended track "Look of Death"
Pandemonium (US) The kill
Definitely their best album guitar wise, bass production still awesome. Vocally it reminds me of very early Accept, definitely not to everyones taste. 2 cover songs here a Golden Earring cover (basically a boring as all hell ballad with god awful vocals), and a decidedly average cover of Snowblind.

Soundtrack (Video Game) Mass Effect
It's a solid game soundtrack a lot of the more ambient tracks are pretty dull and some rather awesome stuff was cut from the official release (Therum). Uncharted Worlds is the ultimate nostalgia driver & so is Virmire ride, and while I love them objectively they would be absolutely nothing for someone uninitiated. In contrast Breeding Ground, Mass Effect Theme, Saren, Spectre Induction, The Thorian, Vigil & Battling Saren retain a reasonable level of quality as set pieces. Definitely inferior all round to ME2's OST.
Soundtrack (Video Game) Diablo 3
Solid soundtrack with some inferior versions of old Diablo music.

Vektor / Cryptosis Transmissions Of Chaos
Not terrible, the guitar is still highly Vektor (I.E Voivod influenced) but I really do not like the clean vocals at all, prefer the alien esque Schuldiner influenced rasp which seems to be getting weaker. Bit uninspired compared to their previous work - drums very drowned in this mix. The clean segments come across rather awkwardly IMHO. The Cyptopsis track was alright, having not heard these dudes before it seemed like a band id rate between 3 and 3.5 so worth a check.

Her debut had the smooth airy voice, beautiful tone and pure air but actually had some rather cool variation, such as the jazzy vibes in James for example. Here we just suck out the variations, strip it heavily and I just do not thing her voice can carry this alone - while still being quite beautiful lyrically and vocally.

too.

Pandemonium (US) Heavy Metal Soldiers
Not a bad release that recalls early Def Leppard, with an ever present bass guitar, possibly
the highest in the mix I've head from the era. Vocalist is a bit of a weak point here, the
songs also come across slightly generic, but at the same time carry a upbeat energy. Guitar
production / mixing can feel a little wafer thin at times, but they do have a nice crunchy
bottom heavy tone to them. Fighting Backwards is the best track here.

As everyone would realize immediately, massive Dissection worship / ripoff here. Still reasonable, but nothing too incredible. Some of their "chug" sections use the most overused types of triplets and melodic black metal styled rhythms. They take most of Dissections idea's down a notch, without enough aggression to match Dissection.

Mr Bungle like experimentation, with some over the top "party" like vibes. Very much silly music, interesting but at times irritating. I'd say But Satan is Dead is probably the best on here. Vocals remind me a slightly more accomplished version of the Rev in Pinkly Smooth.

Each album since Blood of the Nations has been worse than it's predecessor. This is just so
blase, sounds like a set of B-sides that were cut from Blind Rage's recording sessions.
Unfortunately the production here seems to be very thin, as if both the upper and lower end
have been pass filtered to hell. There are still some riffs on this that make the cut, but
the corny hard rock type choruses just don't cut it. You want to have a good laugh, listen to
Overnight Sensation without trying to cringe during the chorus.

Band who appeared on the old Metal Massacre releases. Literally a proto version of Mercyful Fate on the opening track, just that the vocals are only on the higher end here. Some catchy riffs brings bring a upon a cool groove. Very interesting to hear something so akin at times to the Danish masters while sometimes trending far too closely to hippy type vocal delivery. Terrible lyrics that is to be said. After this we end up with a very weak watered down sound akin to a D rate Diamond Head.
Dethklok The Dethalbum
Can't understand this sitting at 3.7 - this is really some uninspired basic stuff. It's clear that they improved dramatically as they went on - most of this is local battle of the bands level material.

Geez this is some dull generic stuff. Not only are the vocals very blase and highly strained, but the guitar tone is stale and overly clipped. Terribly muddy production, the drums are very indistinct even using a Hifiman HE6.
First to Eleven Dead To Me
This comes across as rather generic, they do show some promise with a handful surprising
arrangements, especially the aggression shown on the opening track. However by the end of the
EP the songs trend into a "rock" equivalent to a Katy Perry track, with all the "oh-ohh-
ohhhh-ohhhhhs" that such writing entails. I've always felt their production to be almost
pillow like, very flat with it's energy completely sucked out. Audra has a lovely voice,
however it doesn't carry much weight to it. Overall not bad, but one can see why they stick
primarily to covers.

his style exists on this. I'd recommend All My Life as the best track here.
Mondo Rock Why Fight It?
Mondo Rock The Complete Anthology
A best of with 30 songs, from a band with only around 75 to their name. As such a lot of filler crap gets into this one. It is also nearly identical to their last 2 greatest hits collections, begging the question of why it was even needed.

An improvement on the last album that is certain, but the mainstream pop like influences are
just too much for me - beyond the severe brickwalling, lack of variation. Most
influences Reggae, Ska, Hip Hop are melted down to their most base cliche level. Within 4
songs I wanted to turn this off and found myself struggling to finish listening. Doesn't
matter what the band name is, Sublime had to move on anyway - however this could have been
made by simply anyone, that is how generic this is.

Vanilla Fudge The Beat Goes On
Vendetta Hate
Guitar tones reminiscent of modern Annihilator, poor vocals, lame lyrics, repeated chant choruses, brick walled mastering, poorly mixed production, weak lead tone. A few cool riffs here and there save this from total shit, but this is a very very boring C rate "thrash" album.
