Emery are the kings of harmony. Plus, their screamer never overdoes it which is refreshing. Undoubtedly, the best part of this record are the lyrics. They deal with the crumbling of a relationship, from the initial disintegration to the unavoidable begging. This is one of the only records where I literally love every song, and I mean that. Kimbra The Golden EchoThe National High Violet4.5 superbAFI Sing the SorrowSing the Sorrow is the stuff of legend. You will be hard pressed to find a higher-minded combination of well devised lyrics, guitar work that makes each song an individual, and a vocal delivery which ranges from punk screaming to harmonious singing. The group vocals assisted by the Despair Faction only help. Plus, this record has Death of Seasons. Sick.Dangers Messy, Isn't It?Defeater Lost GroundGallows (UK) Grey BritainThe concept behind Grey Britain is interesting enough, but for that concept to be the backdrop of a hardcore/punk record is legitimately cool. The record deals with the band's emotions toward their motherland, Britain, and more specifically what they believe is the slow decay of their home. The record is angry and vibrant being set off with classical instrumentation at its end. Pissed off lyrics, squealing pigs, and perfect production make this record what it is - a modern 99 thesis, a disgruntled youth threatening the establishment which has threatened their heritage. Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a ButterflyMy Chemical Romance The Black ParadeThis is a definitive record for me. I know every line and strum. It was so impactful on my life that when I listen to it today, I sometimes get chills. Norma Jean Bless the Martyr and Kiss the ChildThe endless claims that this record is a Botch ripoff and that it tries too hard will never change my mind. This record introduced me to heavy music and for that I am forever grateful. Jacob Bannon sounds evil, even demonic, as he hails the end of a relationship; a mind-altering experience. Daft Punk Human After AllThis is a 4. Not one part of the record is boring. The very idea of some fucked up robots trying to become human is such an interesting concept and Daft Punk made a sick record with that concept.Daft Punk Alive 2007Dance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle MountainDangers DangersEmery We Do What We WantForgive Durden Razia's Shadow: A MusicalJohann Sebastian Bach The Musical Offering, BWV 1079Justice †Killing The Dream FracturesKilling The Dream Lucky MeLa Dispute VancouverLa Dispute Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair Modern Life Is War WitnessModern Life Is War My Love. If metalcore could be compared to movements in art, Define the Great Line would be a vital part of the impressionist movement. There is not an emotional excess, but instead a theme of suggestiveness. It suggests change as a result of personal demise. It suggests anger in response to indifference. From Spencer's ridiculous opening of the record to Gillepsie's exceptional singing and drumming throughout, Define the Great Line cannot be missed. I appreciate that. However the monotony and the long length of the record make it a bit unlikeable for me. Before Their Eyes had a solid debut when they released their self-titled. I appreciated the simplicity of the guitar work and the honesty in the lyrics. What I dislike about this record is that it is the opposite of their self titled. The guitar work sucks because it is contrived and it tries to be every other post hardcore band. The lyrics are even worse. This band is dead to me.Emarosa Relativity1.0 awfulBlack Veil Brides Set the World on FireDesign the Skyline NevaehFalling in Reverse Fashionably Late
