I love the rawness of the album, and it sounds quite summery and upbeat, but behind the music are thought provoking lyrics, some sad. Favourite track may be ticklish or star slight. It is just a wonderful record.
Between the Buried and Me Colors
This band is a perfect example of why patience is so important
they make extremely long songs, but thoseÿ willing to sit down and listen to an entire song will be satisfied to the maximum. Songs like White Walls don't exist outside the realms of BTBAM,its the perfect album closer. It's an epic album, but you've really got to like them to sit through the whole of a song like Sun of Nothing, which is probably the least best song IMO.

Fear Before The Always Open Mouth
An album that i truly am proud to have in my cd player constantly, and after so long.
I love this album to bits, i love how all the tracks float into each other. I dont mind the change in sound to their other album. It is just amazing, and the vocals are really cool. They totally fit in, you can hear so much emotion in it. The lyrics are as wonderful as ever, and i love the way the whole atmosphere of a song can change instantly.

Listening to it more, and then comparing it to their older stuff, just shows their progression from their more deathcore influenced akeldama. this album is amazing. Xenochrist is just like wow. I really like this band a hell of a lot, i like how they seem to blend elements of all the things i like into this album.
The Fall of Troy Doppelganger
The Human Abstract Nocturne
The Mars Volta Frances the Mute
The Mars Volta Octahedron
To be quite honest i don't love the last two songs of this, but the other songs are just so brilliant it makes up for it. The first 3 songs just blew me away mostly. Many people have complained about this album but i really think its wonderful, Cedric's voice is as beautiful as ever especially on With Twilight As My Guide, and its nice not to have so much of the guitar wankery. I like the more mellowness of this, but they haven't completely calmed themselves down, the songs are still quite energetic, which is good.

I actually quite like this album now, considering their age, the music is very good. Songs like 'fear and loathing..' and 'reds stars..', are my favourites. I didnt like this for quite a while, it was quite a punk record, and i'm not a huge fan of it as i find it boring sometimes. But i soon realised it was quite interesting to listen to sometimes. The main thing that puts me off listening to this album regularly is the vocals, as rody's werent very mature at this time, and can be quite cringeworthy.

I think this album is great. It was a good listen, i think that ex-creations is probably IMO the best song off the album. They have changed without changing their whole sound, if someone put this record on, you'd know it was the fall of troy. People tend to dismiss a bands more recent releases, but this is a pretty solid record.

I was quite excited for this album, hearing lexington and the undertakers thirst for revenge encouraged me to buy it. I have to say i wasn't too dissapointed, but the ballads they put into the album wasn't what i was expecting, for example 'a letter from janelle'. I think this whole album was far too slow, and much less fun than AWTEW, it seemed they were trying to be too serious.
Also they are decent musicians, but craigs voice is quite an aquired taste, you either love or hate it, i suppose. They experimented with strings a bit too much. But i think this album is quite good;

I could say i was very dissapointed with this album but that would be lying.
I enjoyed this album, it is fun and still explicit as ever. But they have lost some of the edge they once had. There is less hip-hop influences and more disco fuelled songs, which is one thing that did dissapoint me. Their riduculous and pointless lyrics are still evident throughout this record, and that makes it fun.
I think that one of the songs i thought that was particularly cringeworthy was 'never wanted to dance', the starting lyrics made me feel shame towards mr urine..
Overall i would say its a good album, obviously not their best, but i'm sure new fans will enjoy it especially

This was quite bad.
HIM is known for being quite dark and boringly depressing but i did used to like this band at one point. Just something about their songs. I though i might as well buy this, but this was one of the worst albums i own. Every song sounds exactly the same, the lyrics the guitars, the drums. The thing is HIM are my guilty pleasure i love the songs, i just wish the lyrics weren't so repetitive.
Bleed Well is a pretty good song
And i wish Song or Suicide was longer because its really calm,
My favourite song on the album was dead lovers lane, its catchy.
To be honest i do like the songs on this album, but they get old pretty fast.
Its the album you listen to for a week and then realise that it was a waste of hard earned cash.
