Giving this piece any other rating simply wouldn't do it justice. This piece changed music. It's undeniable. I'd write a paragraph yammering about how amazing this piece is, but one listen is proof enough.
Meshuggah Nothing (Re-Release)

INFLUENTIAL. Expressive, beautiful. It's amusing to listen to the studio track "outtakes", with the smallest mistake, they drop everything. I'm no jazz expert, but this is evocative as all hell.

Protest the Hero Fortress
Fortress is a love or hate album. If you hate it, you'll hate the guitar-centric songs, and the high pitched vocals. If you love it, you recognize the technical difficulty and love it all the more for it. I fall into the latter category. Fortress is a phenomenal follow-up to Kezia. It's a 4.75, not quite a classic

ben monder is great, that's how i found this album. if you like twin peaks soundtrack, listen to this. many of the saxophone motifs are incredibly catchy. "stygian pools" reminds me of metal such as animals as leaders, meshuggah, or cloudkicker with the 2-2-2-3 rhythm and the unison, fast arpeggiating sax/guitar lines. this is a technical and listenable album.

it's an impressive album. Beautiful guitar tones, phenominal atmosphere. The biggest flaw in the album however; the drums. Understandably, it's a one-man project, but the dtums lack greatly. Besides that, it's a wonderful album.

Fun. Really, that's the one word to sum up this album. I tend to be harsh toward anything resembling pop, so this rating is a little bias. I don't care for auto-tune, I don't care for electronic music. Of course, for every rule, there's an exception. Daft Punk is that exception.

It's a decent album. A bit awkward flowing between songs, and the middle section of the album's pretty slow. Enjoyable background music, I'm sure some songs will circulate on the playlist for a bit.

Come All You Weary is just as wonderful as always, The Whaler's acoustic rendition is quite beautiful, with Dustin's vocals as touching as always. The third track however... wait. What am I talking about? There's no third track right? They certainly didn't do an awful remix of a previously wonderful track, did they? No, they couldn't have...

The kids certainly have their chops. The vocalist is spot-on throughout this entire piece, as short as it may be. The guitars are detuned to the point of being repulsive at times. The doom atmosphere is ALMOST unbroken throughout the entire album. Unfortunately, the vocals and overall performance leave something to be desired. While a decent album, there's much better in this same vein.

Throughly disappointing. Poor lighting, poor setlist, poor performance from Rody. (Along with some extremely awkward stage banter) Shame, this could've been a lot better.

Technicality? What technicality? BOO's debut album leaves the listener expecting more. "Brutal" riffs drive the album, with the quintessential chug-chug of any metalcore release. Their over-use of keyboards is the cause of their comparison to The Faceless. However, their use is distracting and unnecessary. The lack of technicality throughout the record is disappointing for a band labeled as "brutal". Poor overall.

With BFMV's second full length release, we have a collection of great guitar-centric, accessible songs with simply abyssal lyrics. it's a solid album, and a great listen from beginning to end. unfortunately, the lyrics stop this album from reaching the heights it could've otherwise. hopefully with their next release, BFMV will improve their lyrics...
