Death Angel The Ultra-ViolenceIt's hard to believe that an album this awesome was made by a bunch of fucking kids. I mean, the drummer was 15. Is that not badass? This album is everything that thrash is about. Speed, agression, but it's got plenty of melody too, and the guitarwork is excellent. Exodus Fabulous DisasterWhile many disagree, I think this is the best thing Exodus ever did. While every other thrash band at the time was trying to be political and shit, Exodus were still singing about moshing and headbanging. Steve Souza is an amazing vocalist, and Gary Holt is definitely in the top five thrash guitarists ever. Hinder Welcome to the FreakshowKate Bush Hounds of LoveMotorhead Ace of SpadesAce of Spades isn't just a classic heavy metal album, it's just a great rock n' roll album. There's a few albums that truly capture the spirit of rock n' roll, the sleaziness, the dirtiness, the raw power that is rock n' roll, and Ace of Spades is one of those albums. This is just great shit for everyone. Thrashers, punks, any rock n' roll fan should get something from this.Rush Clockwork Angels4.5 superbAC/DC Highway To HellAtheist Piece of TimeCeltic Frost To Mega TherionD.R.I. 4 of a KindD.R.I. Sounds like a bad idea, but it fucking worked for Deep Purple. While the long, indulgent solos prove that Richie Blackmore is a self-centered prick, it makes some great rock music. Diamond Head Lightning to the NationsOne of the best metal albums ever made, Lightning to the Nations was an influence on everyone at the time. Just listen to Metallica's Kill 'Em All and you can hear Diamond Head influence in every song. Lee, this would be good. But instead, this album is just another hair band's attempt at becoming the next Led Zeppelin.Def Leppard PyromaniaDef Leppard's first two records sound pretty lame and dated now, but back in the day, it was badass. Def Leppard were apart of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal for a reason. But then they released this over-polished, pop metal album, and I haven't bought a Def Leppard record since. I still payed cash to see them on this tour, and they still put on a good show, but I didn't even buy a shirt at the show.Celtic Frost Cold LakeA sad attempt to achieve mainstream popularity. But think about it, how could a band named CELTIC FROST ever become popular anyway? Unless they changed their name to Celtic Snake or Celtic Lion, or Frost Snake, they'd never be popular.Whitesnake WhitesnakeI was so stupid in 1987. I heard that this was actually a good album. But it fucking wasn't! Just more hair rock bullshit trying to sound like Led Zeppelin. 1.0 awfulMetro Zu HashPipe JazzWhitesnake Slide It InIn 1984, I hadn't yet moved on to much extreme metal. I had a few Venom records, and I owned Kill 'em All and Show No Mercy. But I still loved the lighter bands like Iron Maiden and Ozzy and Dio. I read about a "metal" band called Whitesnake in a magazine and read that they had a good blues rock thing going (like Led Zeppelin, a band that I was just starting to love at the time). So I picked this up. And I fucking hated it.
