Better than Mantra, but the clean production kind of takes away from their character. After
several more listens its apparent In Vain focuses on progressive song structures, ambiance
and melody. It follows in the direction of Mantra, where sporadic song writing, standout
riffs, and general experimentation are diluted. Unlike the two previous releases, Aenigma is
much more fluid and consistent. The lack of experimentation, and the overly pristine
production prevent it from surpassing The Latter Rain.

Excessive breakdowns, excessive chugging, and little variety. Everything I usually hate in
an album. Some how The Acacia Strain pull you in and don't let go until the final brutal
chug in Tactical Nuke. This is one fucking heavy album. Also, I love the lyrics, don't take
them seriously.
P.S Tactical Nuke is an outro people, barely a song. When have you ever heard a band end an
album that way? Props to them for trying something different, and it was a very effective
way to end the album IMO. |

reminiscent of KSE. You're going to notice a lot of "haven't I heard this before" moments.
Still a good album filled with lots of emotion, beautiful melodies and angst. Regardless,
this is better than anything KSE has put out since AOJB. |

And his flow reminds rme of listening to someone type on a keyboard. Area 54 is easily the best, because Keith actually rfocuses on his phrasing and the beat, rather than fitting as many words as possible into his rversesrDan, and adding Del and 3030 into the concept makes this. rrisodo dan the automator makes the beats and hes a legend, and really beats aren't the problem rhere, actually fuck that theres some dope beats here |

| The album really surprised me. The first two tracks released are among the worst on the album in my opinion. The harmonies are top notch, and the guitar solos are gorgeous. If you are a long time fan of these guys, this album will not disappoint. I would say its on par with Riders, but not as good as From Your Grave. My only complaint is the harmonized melodies start to get a bit recycled near the end. Regardless, the guitar work is worth getting this alone. |
