Foo Fighters Wasting Light
The fact that they made this album in Dave Grohl's garage and recorded using analog tools just shows how much effort was put into this. Personally, I do enjoy albums made in the traditional style with tapes and all. Music wise, it took me awhile to be awed. Did not took to it on the 1st listen, felt disappointed on the 2nd and by the 3rd, i was confused. Was I suppose to like this? Gone are the hooks that I (or the millions out there) so enjoyed in earlier records with 'All my life', 'Everlong', 'My Hero' etc.

Try as I might, since it was the Foo Fighters, I could never give up on anything they'd put out. Not surprisingly, I started to be drawn to it, how wonderful it all felt. Like pieces of a puzzle falling into place.

When they said back then that it was their heaviest record, they weren't lying. Track by track it all flowed without a single filler in my opinion. As it turned out, each number had its own great melodies about it, making you want to scream along to the words as Dave belts them out in a way that only he does best. Not to mention the frantic strumming coming from all 3 guitars (Pat Smear included this time) just gives you the urge to break into an air guitar motion. Rhythm section, tight as usual, always the framework for any Foo Fighters song. Would easily make a great soundtrack for the summer.

This perhaps could be their Magnum Opus from the catalogue as it just keeps begging for more listens. Although We're only in April, it could easily be my favourite record of 2011.
