It's strange how low the overall rating for this album is. Perhaps it is because of the image that the band sports? Regardless, the album is filled with neat hooks that make it really stand-out!

Chosen Resolution
There's no doubt in my mind that the instrumentation and the vocals are great, and so too is
the recording quality. By all means I would normally give music like this a higher rating.
But Resolution just does not form within me any emotional attachment. Which is why I
am not going to obtain the album, and maintain the rating I've given it here entirely out of
respect for the hard work that was put into creating it.

I'm a big fan of the albums Twilight of the Idols, and Incipit Satan, but I
believe they could have done a better job mixing this release after it was recorded. It's a
solid live album but it still leaves a lot to be desired.
Gojira L'Enfant Sauvage
Neat album but it isn't as great as their last couple of releases. The band focused way too much on utilizing those nifty hooks that they have been using since Terra Incognita and some songs like 'The Fall' are really boring. The best track on the album is 'Pain is a Master'. If the second half of the album didn't pick up the way it had then I would have given this a 3/5.

Icarus the Owl Love Always, Leviathan
Okay so this album is pretty good but the instrumentation isn't as fantastic as everyone here says. Bands like Children of Nova, Terminal, Carousel Kings, InMe, and Letlive have all released albums recently that are equal or better than 'Love Always, Leviathan'. So unless everyone here is listening to absolute garbage, Icarus The Owl have achieved the current standard for pop punk/post-hardcore music.

A lot of the hooks used on this album are very neat and technical. I was actually surprised as to the skill displayed with some of the riffs. The lyrics are refreshing and have some insight to them. However, the album is still a conventional post-hardcore release and really hasn't done much to change the quality or standard of the genre's output. Albeit that may be the case and independent of that caveat, this is still a great album and is really enjoyable.
Kangding Ray Stabil
Katatonia Dethroned & Uncrowned
What these alternative versions of the tracks from Dead End Kings show, with the drums "dethroned" and the guitars "uncrowned" (according to the band), is that a handful of these tracks are actually very boring without really heavy instrumentation used for their composition. The ambiance and acoustic guitars are a nice change though. They bring out a side of the music that definitely wasn't as prominent--though definitely present on Dead End Kings.

Though this album is more similar in style to Tyrant of Death's album 'Connect' than to albums like 'Generation Bliss' and 'Macrocosmic Lunacy', it just doesn't match its predecessor in intensity or memorability.

Falkenbach Heralding - The Fireblade
Fear Factory The Industrialist
Maybe it is because I have been alive for a while and still recall anticipating the release of 7 of their albums but I found this to be absolutely nothing special. This album is just Fear Factory playing the same recycled material that they have been playing for years.
God Is an Astronaut Origins
The album is alright but it's kind of getting annoying that their music is no longer an innovation of the subgenre but is now a fairly predictable nich? form of it.
Gorguts Colored Sands
Gramatik Expedition 44
Grendel (NL) Timewave Zero
The album had a lot of potential. The synths are strong and some moments are really neat but overall there are just too many parts that fail to deliver the same soulful impact that Harsh Generation yielded so strongly.

Yeesh! At least If Only You Were Lonely never ceases to impress.

Kalmah Seventh Swamphony
So Kalmah are back to making music that's composed like songs from Swamplord, They Will
Return and Swampsong. The problem is that the music sounds recycled, as if I have heard it
all before a hundred times over on my iPod already. That's because I have. I've heard it on
all of their aforementioned past releases. The difference now is that the music isn't new;
I've had a long time to digest it. As a result, "Seventh Swamphony" is boring to me.

Korn Take a Look in the Mirror
Krizz Kaliko Shock Treatment
Lanu Her 12 Faces
Lone Galaxy Garden
Luck-One King Of The Northwest
Luck-One True Theory Outtakes
Lydia Devil
M83 Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Madchild Lawn Mower Man
This guy needs to innovate his style. He's incredibly consistent and it's causing his music to become predictable to the point in which it leaves the listener uninterested in his music.
Manilla Road Mysterium
Mares Of Thrace The Pilgrimage
Meyhem Lauren Mandatory Brunch Meetings
Misfits The Devil's Rain
Moka Only Vermilion
netra Mélancolie Urbaine
This had the potential to be really good. I dug the atmosphere, the transitions, the rants
and blackened guitar riffs. But I didn't like the noticeable virtual part of the
instrumentation and excessive repetition. There were too many parts of the album that drew
out for too long and became really boring and as a result, diminished my interest in the
music and the attention that I gave each track. The style needs refinement regarding the
two problems that I've identified so Nestra's music sounds less like an experiment
and more like a serious composition.
None More Black File Under Black
None More Black This Is Satire
Okera A Beautiful Dystopia
On Sierra On Sierra
The music didn't sound as though playing it felt natural to the band. The variety of riffs was also really lacking as there were too many bars of the same stuff.
Pity Sex Pity Sex
This EP really reminds me of 'When Broken is Easily Fixed' by Silverstein.
Real Estate Reality
Red (USA) Release the Panic
RED prove that they are getting incrementally more generic and boring and the Guillotine dubstep remixes particularly accentuate this point.
Reproacher Reproacher
Rhapsody of Fire The Frozen Tears of Angels
Rise To Remain City of Vultures
Goddamnit this is one of those albums that I already regret downloading so I am going to listen to it to death until I am so sick of it that I can join all of the other death/doom metal elitists in trashing it
Rush Hold Your Fire
SAM Destruction Unit
Satan Life Sentence
There are some pretty great tracks on this album but a lot of them fail to deliver and have consequently offset the overall quality of the record.
Saul Williams Volcanic Sunlight
Savoir Adore Our Nature
I just wasn't feelin' it with this album. In order for me to enjoy it as much as I have releases by other indie duets like Of Monsters and Men, Armistice & The Civil Wars I would have to fill in the gaps of disappointment with delusional satisfactions based on my own expectations prior to actually listening to the album.
Shining (SWE) VII: Fodd Forlorare
Sleigh Bells Reign of Terror
Statuette Losing Roots
Suede Bloodsports
too much brit-pop in one album I can't listen to the whole release through-and-through it gets too annoying so I have to hear it by song every now and then on shuffle
Suicide Commando When Evil Speaks
Sulphur Aeon Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide
Swarms Low Sun
Tawny Peaks Tawny Peaks
A lot of the clean guitar bits are really beautiful and have a great tone similar to that of Suis La Lune's 'Riala'. Unfortunately the album falls short when it comes to energy and I found my interest fading throughout various tracks. Cool release but these guys need to step it up a bit.
The Answer Revival
The Black Dahlia Murder Ritual
The Boxer Rebellion Promises
There are some really catchy songs on this album but it's too generic and spacey. I really wish that these guys didn't break so deeply into indie pop.
The Bright Road Norway
The Casualties Resistance
The Decline Are You Gonna Eat That?
The Doppelgangaz Dopic Of Discussion
The Flatliners Dead Language
Decent album but I would still like for The Flatliners to go back to playing ska plz and
thx.
The Men Campfire Songs
The Milk Carton Kids The Ash & Clay
The Mood Swings No Limit
The Mountain Goats Devil In the Shortwave
The lyrics are neat but the guitar bits are just a little too simple.
The Real McKenzies Off the Leash
The Real McKenzies Clash of the Tartans
The Real McKenzies Real McKenzies
The Reign of Kindo Play With Fire
Yea they use a variety of instruments on this album and it's a well-defined cross between
funk, jazz and alternative rock, but there isn't a whole lot going on during each verse.
They are actually quite repetitive. Some tracks aren't, but the majority are. There's also a
lot of overly glossed pop influence on this album and it makes it difficult to take the
music seriously at all. What I've heard on this album sounds like their style is just
becoming a gimmick now.
The Saddest Landscape Exit Wounded
The Stereo State Crossing Canyons
The Sun and the Ocean Distant Light/New Darkness
Thirty Seconds to Mars This Is War
Thirty Seconds to Mars Love Lust Faith + Dreams
The album is hollow and mundane--albeit compositionally pleasant--futuristic pop. The
potential of 30 Seconds to Mars is not represented by this piece. EDIT: also, lol wtf is up
with the track Convergence?

Marduk Iron Dawn
Nebraska Displacement
One Way Mirror Destructive by Nature
I like 3 tracks off of this album and not a single one of them was anything more than decent. lol what a giant turd this album is!
Rotten Sound Species At War
Spoken Illusion
The instrumentation is generic and the lyrics are naively emotional. So what's good about this album? Well, everyone is tooting the fact that it is well produced but LOL okay, that has little to do with the actual band. If they released the demo version of this album I doubt it would be this well dressed up.
The Comsat Angels 7 Day Weekend
Compared to their first three albums this one was horribly disappointing! They should have never broken into the New Wave/Pop scene out from the underground Post-Punk scene.
Visions Home

2.0 poor
Deadlock The Arsonist
They are successfully getting progressively worse.
Diamond Rings Special Affections
Though I grew up being a fan of the music scene in Toronto - without much choice since I grew up in the GTA and surrounding area, Diamond Rings is probably the artist that I show the least amount of love and support to. This is because his music is a contrived form of synth pop that contributes nothing more than a questionable fashion-sense to the genre and scathes the output of the city's scene by adding yet another generic release to the regions reputation.
El Puchero Del Hortelano El Tiempo De Manuel
The Comsat Angels Chasing Shadows

1.0 awful
