Some might dismiss this as pure thrash metal after the first two tracks but as you progress through you notice all different experimental songs that just catch fire. What I'm trying to say is that this is one amazing album with great vocals, great thrash and acoustic guitar playing. It saddens me that nobody has reviewed this. Just try the song Discontinued and you will know why this is one of metals greatest gifts.Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a MemoryExtreme Extreme II: PornograffittiExtreme Waiting for the PunchlineExtreme III Sides to Every StoryExtreme ExtremeExtreme Saudades de RockIn Flames The Jester RaceIn Flames WhoracleMachine Head The BlackeningMastodon The HunterMegadeth Rust in PeaceMetallica Ride the LightningMorbid Angel Altars of MadnessMorbid Angel CovenantRush Clockwork AngelsT.R.A.M. With new drummer Brandon Trahan behind the kit makes this band even more tight throughout. The 10 tracks fly by quickly and give a short but enjoyable listen. The best track on the record is The Great Fear featuring guest vocals from Vincent Bennet. (The Acacia Strain) The band are really going to struggle on the follow up to this album. Hot off the heels of their breakthrough 2008 album, which reached #1 on the Billboard heatseakers chart, All Shall Perish look to push higher into the charts and into the top 20 WITHOUT shifting their trademark sound. instead, they aim to do this with the same brutality, mixed with some tastey songwriting tricks. All That Remains The Fall of IdealsAll That Remains For We Are ManyAnthrax Spreading the DiseaseAnthrax Sound of White NoiseAnthrax Worship MusicThis is the album I have been waiting for years. This album boasts some of the greatest breakdowns I've ever came across eg. More Than Conquerors. The vocals have had a drastic change for the band with Brook Reeves now turning to a low death growl instead of youthful pig squeals. This album is enjoyable if you appreciate deathcore. I'll say that it takes a couple full listens to really get behind it. It's nothing like Shogun though, and I like that. The songs all have the raw power of Ascendency, and the clean sections are very nice. The 30 second samples that came out a month ago really didn't do any of the songs justice. Really the only song without any screaming is A Grey So Dark. All of the others are heavy and have their own flair to them. The only criticism I have is that I felt unfulfilled at the end of each listen to the album. Of All These Yesterdays gets me ready to explode right at the end and its the perfect place to have a balls to the wall explosion of screaming and drums with a mindblowing riff. But it just ends there really.2.5 averageAnthrax Stomp 442Anthrax Volume 8: The Threat Is RealChelsea Grin My DamnationChelsea Grin are back only a year later with nothing new to offer but bland generic songs. If you enjoyed last years Desolation Of Eden then you will have no problems listening to this one. There are a couple of differences but nothing to get excited over. Firstly in the vocal department I found Alex Koehler has changed up his style. The group have decided to toss away the youthful pig squeals in exchange for more high pitch shrieking, which sound strangely different this time around. The addition of guitar solos is a welcome one, giving the listener a few moments to breath. Apart from that Chelsea Grin luckly have chosen the best song off the record as there single. My Damnation sums up the whole album in 4 minutes. It's fast, full of screaming and has plenty of breakdowns to offer. It's a real shame that the band lossed focus on this record. After hearing this 5 times over 3 days it has only grown on me a little bit. Nothing too special but still enjoyable at times.
