5.0 classic
Bon Iver Bon Iver, Bon Iver
Explosively gripping and fiercely gripping, Justin Vernon's second album under the moniker Bon Iver is an epic masterpiece.
Wilco The Whole Love
"The Whole Love" begins with the fiery rampage "Art of Almost", works its way through matured pop tunes and quiet laments and eventually sneaks directly into your heart. Ever since the critically acclaimed "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" we've been waiting for Wilco to deliver another classic; here it is.

4.5 superb
Arctic Monkeys Suck It and See
"Suck It and See" is the Arctic Monkeys' best album since their universally acclaimed hit debut, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not". The sporadic adolescent punks who smashed into the Brit-Rock scene at just 19 have done a lot of growing up and it shows in every word and note of Alex Turner's prophetic prose.
Fleet Foxes Helplessness Blues
Fleet Foxes fascinating (if slightly unfocused) new album is a rarety of mystic emotion and towering maturity.
The Dodos No Color
A powerhouse of an achievement; the band has matured to an unbelievable extent and delivers an album that is quietly magnificent. One of the year's best.

4.0 excellent
Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX We're New Here
"We're New Here" is not your average remix album; it's fascinating reimagining of Scott-Heron's previous work that feels like its own production.
James Blake James Blake
James Blake's debut is an unfocused yet fascinating and magical record of pop amoeba.
Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne
The kings of hip hop collaborate with unmatchable chemistry on a funny, enjoyable, and totally kickass anthem of anthemic rap.
Panda Bear Tomboy
While "Tomboy" is as experimental and interesting as Panda Bear's previous work, it's slightly more accessible.

3.5 great
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Belong
A fun and heartwarming (if inconsequential) soundtrack to the teenage life.

3.0 good
Explosions in the Sky Take Care, Take Care, Take Care
It's more of the same, but when the same is as pretty and effective as Explosions In the Sky, why wouldn't we want more of it?
Radiohead The King of Limbs
"The King of Limbs" has a haunting minimalism that is both its strength and its weakness. It is absolutely mystifying, but it's also entirely forgettable.
The Strokes Angles
While this is not the big comeback fans were hoping for, make no mistake: there is growth here. For every conflicting mess like "Metabolism", there is a glimmer of hope like "Taken For A Fool". The Strokes may not be "back" yet, but nothing about "Angles" certifies that they aren't on their way.

2.5 average
Lil Wayne Tha Carter IV
Lil Wayne's latest entry in the famed hip hop series is an efortless and tiring exercise in self-indulgent mediocrity. The rap master has repeatedly mentioned potential retirement; "Tha Carter IV" feels like his resignation.

2.0 poor
Lupe Fiasco Lasers
Dumber and lazier than this artist has any right to be.

1.5 very poor
Wiz Khalifa Rolling Papers
A tone-def, emotionless piece of pop garbage for high schoolers to play at their prom that comes from someone who should know way better.
