My 2nd favourite MDB album, right after TLtS.

My favorite is definitely Turn Loose the Swans, but I don't know if this or The Light at the End of the World would be my number 2.

Turn Loose the Swans had a fantastic dark atmosphere, the violin on some parts (title track for example) it's just shivering.
The light at the end... has my favourite MDB song, She is the Dark, but on the other hand, it has some really boring tracks imo.
I'd say
1º Turn Loose the Swans
2º The Dreadful Hours
3º The Light at the end...
4º The Angel and the dark river
5º 34.788%... Complete (no kidding)

Damn, really... I can't stand 34.788%.
Anyway, I'd say:
1. Turn Loose the Swans
2. The Light at the end...
3. The Dreadful Hours
4. A Line Of Deathless Kings
5. Like Gods of the Sun

Yeah I understand, its really weired sometimes, even for MDB standards.
However The Whore, the Cook and the Mother is such an amazing song, also Heroic Chin and Under your wings. Its a very heterogenic album really, the good moments are really awsome and the bad really awful.
Its pretty much the opposite of their recent albums imo, every track is enjoyable, but none of them really stands out.

What are you listening to these days? Any rec's?
|
| |
a lot of stuff, really, but generally speaking -
a fair few alt rock and indie rock bands (Low, Magnetic Fields, Gaslight Anthem etc), drone and ambient (though I've been sort of listening less as winter ended, same with black metal), but most of all i've been listening to a lot of death metal
i've been working on this for a little while now (with some help from charlesfishowitz):
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Rasputin2/journey_at_the_speed_of_death
don't listen to too much doom anymore, other than my usual favs (worship, skepticism) and the promo packages i get from solitude productions
i definitely have recs, just depends what you're after trey :D

ha ha, you know what I'm after. I still listen to the same kind of shit I did three years ago (maybe a little more indie stuff, but not much).

The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound
The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
The Magnetic Fields - Holiday

Immolation - Close to a World Below
