The opener might have the catchiest post-metal riffs ever made. I like the atmosphere of part II but this is such an easy jam, it's consistently enjoyable for the whole duration.
How would you guys place their influences, i.e. what other projects does this have the most in common with? (I guess the answer is different depending on whether we're talking disc 1 or 2). Curious mainly because I've only heard the classic ISIS records (Panopticon/Oceanic) which I really like, but am more enamoured with a few other acts & don't consider them close to the pinnacle of the genre based on those releases.

Hey Pika! It has a welcoming Hardcore vibe to the dark atmosphere. Very good.
I'm trying not to forget checking Hacride. Cheers

All that shouting at the end just devolves into laughter. I can definitely picture them in the studio doing that.

They feel kind of less cohesive as individual albums, and i don't love the production

idk if cohesive is a word I’d use for this band’s albums from front to back - the individual tracks within the noise hold the true strength, but I can see what you mean. Maybe the noise segues are a bit more noisier and longer, maybe the production doesn’t sound as beefy with the bass trackings, I’ve heard these before. To me, they’re about the same as everything they’ve done in spirit, yet with more ‘emotion’ behind it considering who they had in mind while making it.
check the two tracks they released this month, b-sides in a way. more steve brodsky on vocals!

I can't pretend I haven't lost a bit of patience with stuff since this one came out, maybe it's a fault of me not having the nuts for the noisey sections when I think I listen to OMG records for the drive and energy yeah
Oh shit absolutely will
