This is not better than Neighborhoods.
Even if She Falls alone makes that release better than this.

I should really give that one a proper chance again. Absolutely hated it on release and never went back to it

It's really grown on me over the years, Ghost on the Dance Floor and Even if She Falls are up there with some of blink's best material in my eyes, and that record seemed to somewhat build on their self titled record, where as this and California have seemed to take steps backwards. Tom's riffs really propped up so much of their music, and with him gone the hole that's left really can't be ignored.

Definitely check out neighborhoods again. I hated it on release as well, mostly due to hype and comparing it to their incredible self-titled. There are some fantastic songs on it tho like Kaleidoscope and after midnight.

The outrageously formulaic song structures are really starting to pull me out of this.

The outrageously formulaic song structures are really starting to pull me out of this. Similar to California the: Opening stanza and then chorus by Mark followed by second stanza and chorus by Matt, is really beaten into the ground.
that describes... like four songs here

I heard that new single on that atrocious Monday Night Football halftime show. It truly sucks.

All the best songs here do not sound like Blink-182. Go figure.

My favorites on this. Album can get a bit samey, but is a fun listen through and through. This is what I wanted California to be. Good review. May be able to bump to 3.5 if it sticks enough.
4. Darkside
6. Generational Divide
8. Black Rain
13. On Some Emo Shit
15. Remember to Forget Me

Neighborhoods - flawed but awesome record.
This? Not so much. I'm still struggling my way through it. Made it through the first half, can't stand more than one or two songs at a time.

Not really sure about the Nine being better than Neighborhoods part, chief.
