sounds like someone went back in time and kidnapped a garage band from the early seventies and set them down in a pro studio . its doom metal but more subtle and nuanced..the vocals are really melodic and clean and its still really heavy but in a obscure sevenities era metal band kind of way..but yeah really super solid riffing..i have been listening to this not stop since i got it and i never get bored listening to it. very layered melodies too and a lot of serious prog moments which i love..kind of hints of king crimson or ELP...

I enjoyed it, but there was one glaring issue I had with it. I couldn't shake the feeling that these guys sounded like a satanic Greta Van Fleet.

These guys' debut EP revealed their potential and Woodland Rites is an even stronger affair of doom/heavy metal a la Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General. The songwriting here is more varied and engaging than their EP (they even go into a semi-prog mode on "May Queen"), and the occult elements are very well-done.

Incredible album. Adding lots of new ideas to the doom metal formula with almost gospel sounding harmonies and feel. Well crafted songs that are inventive and super catchy. Awesome guitar.
