Review Summary: Gather 'round children, it's story time!
Ladies and gentlemen, Acid Witch is back with a vengeance! These sick freaks from Detroit know how to make music as fun as it can possibly be. Their gimmick is all things horror. Ghosts, goblins, werewolves and, of course, WITCHES!
Rot Among Us is the 4th full length album from these guys and it may very well be their best. This album (and band in general) is fueled by their gimmick, nobody can deny that. But they also make some damn good music too.
Rot Among Us is drenched in psychedelic backdrops and horror movie samples as you're being knocked over the head with a broomstick by massively filthy, sludgey riffs. The riffage here is just unstoppable and relentless, but also very catchy and rhythmic and will easily get you to banging your head. Vocals are what you'd expect from a band like this. They're more rooted on the higher pitched black metal side 99% of the time and executed very well.
Acid Witch is a band that just likes to have a good time. They do not take themselves seriously and if you're looking for a really deep, emotional listen, this band/album isn't going to be for you. On the other hand, if you love riffs, getting stoned and all things spooky,
Rot Among Us may be just the album you're looking for!
