Shayley Bourget?s 4th album, PEGASUS, is certainly, some of his best material that has some great production in the mixing/mastering and great hooks matched along side his unique vocal style. Even with a few missteps, like on the poppier, acoustic ballads (?Play the Beast?, ?Miss You So?) just sound like watered down sugar with tackier written lyrics. But, the sheer enjoyment that comes from this record is still Shayley?s vocals, that drive home and grab your attention instantly and the incredible production show the versatile, power of the instrumentals, especially on the heavier tracks. After the hugely, embarrassing misstep of the last record (MR. PAIN), it?s great to see a more focused Dayshell, giving exactly what?s wanted from them, but improving further.

"Pegasus" features easily the catchiest tunes yet from what was once a 4-piece band and now just a solo project of Dayshell. From the get-go, 'You Wish', 'Not Welcome', and 'Give it to Me' all hit hard and will have hooks that are doubtful to leave your head after even just one listen. The production here is solid as well, save for the clearly programmed drums. There's evidential proof that actual drums probably could've been tracked for the record, but the cymbal hits lack an organic feel that most tracked drums have. It's something that once you hear, you can't un-hear, and drags down what would probably be the best record to date from this (now) solo act.

Vocals are seriously overproduced for my taste, which is a big shame, I enjoy Shayley's delivery, it's most certainly the main selling point of this. Otherwise, the production is solid, probably the best among all previous releases, music is varied for album to not become stale too fast on repeated listens, lyric-wise it's pretty shallow.
