After Free, Gil went on to do a lot of work with Brian Jackson, which is all pretty bloody brilliant. It seemed to give him some lifeblood for his solo work too, spurred on by the election of Reagan and focusing his love for political poetry. Reflections is, on the whole, a really solid, likeable piece of soul-jazz - B Movie however is a landmark treasure. "First thing I wanna say is, mandate my ass" is an iconic start to any song.
