Not many people can claim to create an entirely new genre with their music. Unless, of course, you are John Fahey. One of the greatest guitarists of all time, as well as the creator and prime musician within the American Primitivism movement, Fahey's fingerstyle guitar style has been countlessly imitated ever since Fahey began recording what would become a prolific library of work in 1959. He recorded many albums from then all the way up to his death in 2001.Fahey himself borrowed from the folk and blues traditions in American music but also incorporated classical, Brazilian, Indian and abstract music intohis eclectic Ĺ“uvre. In 2003, he was ranked 35th in Rolling Stone's "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".-Source: wikipedia.com
