| Talons Turns 21 Years Old
Today's my 21st birthday and it's already been a very fun day, looking forward to some kind of surprise event happening in Boston my gf and friend are taking me to later (edit: TD Garden Comics Come home). Also already got two 6 packs of hard lemonade and hard cider as presents, and room is full of balloons and candy. Have a feeling this is gonna be a fantastic day. List is jams I've been enjoying recently. Comment any fun 21st b-day stories! | 1 | | Panopticon Autumn Eternal
Was not expecting this to happen, but this ended up as my favorite metal album since 2010. Everything about it is perfect to me, and evokes such an incredible, evocative atmosphere including themes of my favorite season. AOTY along with Foals - What Went Down | 2 | | Ulver Kveldssanger
My favorite dark folk album, working on a review for it atm that will hopefully do it justice. | 3 | | Gazpacho Molok
Very quirky and diverse, even for them, takes time to digest and certainly gets better and better with each listen. | 4 | | Alcest Ecailles De Lune
One of my all time favorites, and an amazing example of how beautiful metal can be. | 5 | | Puscifer Money Shot
Was surprised with how good this ended up being, second half in particular has some choice cuts. | 6 | | Electric Wizard Dopethrone
Can't believe it took me so long to give this band a shot, album is such an absorbing experience and has fantastic passion, one of the heaviest, grittiest, albums I've ever heard with a sick album cover to top it all off. | 7 | | Have a Nice Life Deathconsciousness
Just gave this a listen for the first time as well, love how diverse it is while holding to a stylistically thick and droning atmosphere. | 8 | | Cradle of Filth Hammer of the Witches
Their best since Midian and one of the best metal albums of the year m/ | 9 | | Rush Hemispheres
Been on a Rush craze, having only heard Moving Pictures and part of Permanent Waves before, I jammed their entire discography up 'til Grace Under Pressure over the past two weeks and will continue on at some point. This is their best. | 10 | | Rishloo Eidolon
This was a very interesting find, very versatile singing and fantastic musicianship all around. Not just another Tool clone as some call them. | 11 | | Oceansize Self Preserved While The Bodies Float Up
Haven't listened in a while but very underrated, band is one of the most consistent of post-rock/progressive rock. | 12 | | Pain of Salvation Remedy Lane
Another fantastic prog band, reminds me of a less cheesy Dream Theater at times. | 13 | | Talk Talk Laughing Stock
Best album ever? probs. | 14 | | Morbus Chron Sweven
Infectious, psychedelic dm that always does it for me. Their debut is cool too, not really anything like this but some great throwback dm material worth hearing. | 15 | | Neurosis A Sun That Never Sets
Have been jamming this and Times of Grace a lot lately, this has their best lyrics imo, and almost as good as Eye of Every Storm. | 16 | | Intronaut The Direction of Last Things
Better than the last one, which I liked more than most, with more energy and passion than any of their others probably, even if I prefer a few of the older ones. | 17 | | Dream Theater When Dream and Day Unite
Finally gave this a full listen, not even that bad and the singing grows on you, seriously. Of course doesn't touch the albums they did right afterwards, but pretty underrated. By far the worst thing about this is the production and mixing. | 18 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication
Another band besides Rush that I jammed a ton of albums from for the first time. This and By The Way are tied for my favorite, such great musicianship and guitar textures. Will have to check out Josh's solo stuff asap | 19 | | maudlin of the Well Part the Second
First song is among their very best, one of the most unique and creative albums I've heard recently. Had to post the free download on FB (the band made it available, no illegal shit) check it out you won't regret it: http://www.maudlinofthewell.net/ | 20 | | Swallow the Sun Emerald Forest and the Blackbird
Finally heard this, used to be my favorite band in high school and was afraid this would disappoint given what people said about it. Of course they were wrong, and this is just as fantastic as everything else they've ever done. Am planning on making my next review (my 50th) on their new triple album, which sounds incredible from the info they released so far. | |

11.08.15 | "Hard cider and lemonade >>>> any "real" shit like beer or whisky or anything. If you're gonna drink, drink something that tastes good"
Well I happen to think beer and whisky taste delicious and that coolers taste like shit | Flugmorph
11.08.15 | Dont you mean sugar? | TalonsOfFire
11.08.15 | I only had about 3-4 drinks throughout the day and had to drive a lot so couldn't get drunk even if I wanted to. I would never do the 21 shots shit anyway though. I like hard liquor sometimes, but mostly prefer whatever tastes good, which is mainly fruit drinks and "girl drinks" as guys have called them haha.
The show was fantastic: Louis CK, Ray Romano, and Chris Distefano were my favorites. Steven Wright, Denis Leary (host), and Lenny Clarke were great too. Jimmy Fallon was off his ass, I guess he's been having a really hard time but Denis helped him out and it was all good. | ScuroFantasma
11.09.15 | "Hard cider and lemonade >>>> any "real" shit like beer or whisky or anything. If you're gonna drink, drink something that tastes good"
Agreed but how come all the girly drinks taste the best and I feel slightly weird for ordering them occasionaly | Flugmorph
11.09.15 | Also it's healthy | Mystletainn
11.09.15 | "Hard cider and lemonade >>>> any "real" shit like beer or whisky or anything. If you're gonna drink, drink something that tastes good"
Agreed beer is trash, it takes like 3 to even get a buzz, makes me feel bloated, tastes like crap and makes people gain weight, oh and I have to take a piss all the time. | Flugmorph
11.09.15 | Beer rules btw | Mystletainn
11.09.15 | wine, liquor >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> beer
these are facts | Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.09.15 | "already got two 6 packs of hard lemonade and hard cider as presents, and room is full of balloons and candy"

11.09.15 | who would have thought that weaker alcohol would give u less of a buzz than stronger alcohol | Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.09.15 | thats just so counter-intuitive | Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.09.15 | i dont think we are even remotely on the same page right now tbh | Flugmorph
11.09.15 | I know that beer is not exactly great in the us at least not the big brands. | Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.09.15 | the big brands arent good anywhere bud, us has tonnes of great microbreweries | Flugmorph
11.09.15 | I know those are quite famous. I still would argue that the well known beers in europe have a better rep than the US brands. | TalonsOfFire
11.16.15 | I definitely prefer just drinking what tastes best to me, but I like most kinds of alcohol overall. I got more during another birthday celebration, including one bottle called "Your father smelt of Elderberries" from Holy Grail haha | brainmelter
11.16.15 | happy birthday mang | Spacesh1p
11.16.15 | Fuck yeah for the love of Autumn Eternal. That record is amazing. I might move it to 5.
Also happy birthday, I remember when I turned 21 about 18 months ago, pretty uneventful. | Spacesh1p
11.16.15 | 7 also rules hard. Great fall/winter album. | TalonsOfFire
