04.05.16 | I haven't really gotten any blisters since I first started playing, but if I were you I wouldn't play again until your upcoming gig. If I really wanted to keep practicing though, I would wrap the bottom of my sticks (like where you hold them) with electrical tape or put on snow gloves. I remember the tape thing really worked for me, but I was also a very new player when I used to do it so I can't remember how much that affected my playing. | tempest--
04.06.16 | tape the sticks or wear gloves | 50iL
04.06.16 | Some band aids in the really bad spots should help, but I haven't gotten any major blisters in years, so I don't know if I'm the best to consult here. I would recommend you listen to Alex; don't play until your gig. Otherwise, your hands are just gonna be real messed up.
Anyway, what are you guys gonna play? I hope you do well! On that note, I also have a small, easy gig next month which I have to attend to… | Spec
04.06.16 | I stick band-aids on and keep practising then when gig time comes, take 'em off and let the blood flow. | theNateman
04.06.16 | Thanks guys! And 50il, we're gonna play my guitarists' brother's wedding, and he wants us to play a bunch of classic upbeat emo/pop punk songs, and their drumming is surprisingly complex | MO
04.06.16 | it's all in the grip dude I've jammed 3 hours + and not gotten blisters. just gotta find that sweet spot | 50iL
04.06.16 | Cool! I wish you luck, as punk is actually a very hard genre to play. It's one of the few in which I have a lot of trouble with. Anyway, I'm sure you'll do great! | someguest
04.06.16 | You guys are grasping your wood far too hard. | AlexKzillion

04.06.16 | pop the blisters and put bandaids on them Whiplash style
practice constantly to let them form calluses over time | theNateman
04.06.16 | @zippa- in too deep -sum 41, sweetness - Jimmy eat world, el scorcho-Weezer, until the day I die by Story of the Year, Trasatlanticism -death cab, Da Vinci-Weezer, after midnight- blink 182, there is- box car racer, Buried A Lie- Senses Fail, Voices- Saosin, Helena- My Chemical romance.
It's a wierd set list for a wedding, but they're the kind of people who buy black wedding dresses so it fits? | Spec
04.06.16 | Playing "There Is" is such a pain in the ass. | theNateman
04.06.16 | @spec- yeah it is. I fucking hate that drumroll that's fucking endless | GooGooGajoob
04.17.16 | Pop the blisters ASAP! When they form, get rid off them and if you're hand is used to making calluses, you'll be right. Keep the blister and the skin underneath will get tender and it'll hurt more instead of getting that gruff surface.
Blisters are a drummers best friend in disguise as painful uglies. |
