AsleepInTheBack 10.05.16	Interesting topic. These days I'm always in jeans and plain t-shirts, often gaming related ones, and I don't think how I dress at all reflects my tastes. Certain genres I think certainly produce a community of those that engross themselves in that genre and dedicate their look to it. I guess you get the benefit of feeling a part of a community, but I feel that lends itself to needlessly narrowing your music taste and developing into an unwillingness to try stuff outside your comfort zone. Also looks quite insecure to me, taking trying to fit in to extremes, like 'look at me, I dress like a metalhead therefore I must be really into metal and know what Im talking about'. Of course this is generalising quite a bit; I'm sure there are people that dress like metalhead with super eclectic tastes and people that dress boring that have no musical knowledge, and, indeed, dressing to fit a genre's dress style doesn't necessarily mean that you're doing it out of some insecurity, could just be that you like the style.
