| A (Belated) Boney 2017
So I kind of dropped the ball on posting my 2017 list. Back in December I told myself I’d do in-depth write-ups of every album like I did for my 2016 list, but it just didn’t happen. About a month ago now I had my list filled out with some brief descriptions written on the spot, and I hit submit...and the site ate it. All my hard work gone. After that I never got around to re-posting it, so here it is. The ranking is kind of approximate, a lot of these albums I honestly didn’t revisit a lot of times if at all throughout the year so I just went with my gut feeling of how good they were and of course the ratings I had left for them. Take it as you will but these were the top 50 albums out of the 120 or so I checked out. | 50 | | Ryan Adams Prisoner

02.28.18 | Yep haha
Tbh looking back at this list 2017 was a pretty weak year, despite the ratings I was honestly rather ambivalent to a lot of these albums. Hoping 2018 brings better things. | neekafat
02.28.18 | "[Piano rock, indie folk, chamber pop, sarcasm (?)]"
yup | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | RIP | DoofusWainwright

02.28.18 | Jens Lekman. lol. | DoofusWainwright
02.28.18 | Foxygen a 3.7 though, damn, wasn’t a big fan of that one | Papa Universe
02.28.18 | Oh cool. I wanted to do in-depth write-ups too, but bailed mid way. Now a random half is done and the other's not.
Y'arite... | AsleepInTheBack
02.28.18 | shame the site ate all the write-ups, but cool list. one day I'll eventually get around to checking 2. | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | Yeah zak, if I’m being honest I’ve probably overrated Jens, I just had one very impactful listen at one point that had me bump it to a 4.5 and I’m not sure I ever listened to it since but I just decided to rank it based on where the ratings stood. Probably if I relistened to it it would move down closer to the 20th position but I figured I would keep the ranking as a snapshot of how I felt at the time I *should* have had this posted. | Papa Universe
02.28.18 | But that Protomartyr rating tho. *judgingly shakes his head* | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | Haha, yup Doof, ya didn’t miss a thing. Foxygen I revisited later in the year and that improved my opinion of it, not enough to bump but it went from a low 3.5 to a high 3.5, it’s a lot of fun, you just have to embrace the cheese. | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | Yeah Asleep I was livid when that happened. They weren’t high quality writeups or anything, I had just improvised them on the spot which was why I hadn’t saved them in another document, but it was still incredibly frustrating. | DoofusWainwright
02.28.18 | How much would I enjoy 5? | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | You’d give it at least a 3.5 and maybe a 4 is my guess. John Moreland is one of the best active Americana artists, he’s got a way with a melody and a heart wrenching lyric and his singing ain’t half bad either. The new one’s not his best but it was a steady grower for me throughout the year and featured several of my most listened tracks of the year. | cold
02.28.18 | Awesome that you have Deafcult on here, and so high at that. I think that was my number two or three of the year. | DoofusWainwright
02.28.18 | I shall check it and prepare the 3.5-4 rating | butcherboy
02.28.18 | list is so patently Boney, you could make soup out of it.. some great stuff here! | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | Coldheaven, I believe it was you who recommended Deafcult to me! Did you see my review of it?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts Doof.
Thanks butch! | Frippertronics
02.28.18 | Best Foxygen agreeeeeeed | theBoneyKing
02.28.18 | indeed 'tis | theBoneyKing

02.28.18 | Ye | TwigTW
02.28.18 | I was shocked by your #1, until I realized the list was upside down . . . I liked that Offa Rex too. Totally missed 31 and 5, I'll have to check them out--great list! | Frippertronics
02.28.18 | Oh btw grats on forgetting Ken despite it having a higher rating than the bottom third of this. | Atari
02.28.18 | Nice list man! | rabidfish
02.28.18 | New Mac Demarco ruled, yes!
