| Help Toad Edit His Poetry (4th Sputversary)
Hi everyone! I'm finishing a draft of my first chapbook (read: poetry book, but like, a lil smaller) and i'm looking for some feedback from discerning artsy people like yourselves. If you'd like a copy, shoutbox me and i'll send you the manuscript. You don't have to be an expert or even a consistent poetry reader; all feedback is helpful in some way or another. Thanks for the help team! List is albums i'm loving lots rn | 1 | | Kacey Musgraves Golden Hour
Slow burn SOTY easy so far. Verse melody lifts my soul | 2 | | Machine Girl ...BECAUSE I'M YOUNG ARROGANT AND HATE EVERYTHING

Summer's coming back and it's time to break out White Sadboy Anime Drake | 4 | | The Go! Team The Scene Between
Summer's coming back and it's time to break out Beachy Indie Pop Avalanches | 5 | | Laurel Halo Quarantine
Yeah this only gets better | 6 | | Sun Kil Moon Ghosts of the Great Highway
Took a hilariously long time getting around to what is (not easily) the best record in Koz's discog | 7 | | Radiohead The King of Limbs
Damn it feels nice to get back to Radiohead after overplaying them all the way back in high school | 8 | | Caramell Supergott
Speedymix, obv, which has the highest pop-melody concentration in the game for when you need that teen girl energy straight to the eardrum | 9 | | Death Grips The Money Store
Another record i overplayed the hell out of and now it's coming back better than ever | 10 | | John Coltrane Ascension

04.19.18 | Are these for real Toad? Holy shit. First of all, I know fuck-all about poetry though I've written a bunch in the past, so just take this comment with a grain of salt. First of all, why did you choose to format them that way? It's really obnoxious just aesthetically. Also, are you using a lot of free-association techniques in these? I've been messing with those as well (they are pretty fun and wild) and these reek of that. I only read a few so far and they seem very fucking weird though that's not really a bad thing. | Toad
04.19.18 | yeah i went crazy with the format. most of the poems in here appeared in very normal forms before this (left indent, stanzas, standard or absent capitalization) but i really wanted to emphasize the blaring, stream-of-info television feel of the poetry. i'll probably end up submitting that more standard version for publication, but i wanted to try something crazy and visceral first | Toad
04.19.18 | hence the "maniac edition" in the title of the document | polyrhythm
04.22.18 | I for one am a fan of the presentation Toad, but I imagine that will be a love/hate thing depending on the reader. I think your free associations and Ginsberg-style juxtapositions really work sometimes, and other times not so much. I think if you are going to slap an unusual adjective beside a noun, it needs to paint a striking image or at least have a "cellar door" quality. Sometimes I couldn't work out what you were trying to evoke or say. I can give you some specific examples if you like
Regardless, best of luck with this project |
