02.29.20 | "Amelia" by The Cocteau Twins (from Treasure)
I know that this song isn't about winter in a literal sense, but the entire album of Treasure makes me think of snow, in fact I wrote an entire review based around this (https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/70475/Cocteau-Twins-Treasure/) and "Amelia" feels like one of the most obvious examples:

03.03.20 | 1. Winter Creatures - Being asked to rate something rec'd by JustJoe feels a little u n c o o l. Okay, here we go. A quiet start, nice. I like the accenting piano notes, they feel well-placed. This is quaint and enjoyable but idk if I'm down for second helpings. 3.4
2. Amelia - If I did a tier list for Treasure off the top of my head, this'd probably have been A-, but listening to it on its own this seems a bit harsh; maybe it always gets overshadowed by Pandora just before it? Wonderful track, this brings back a lot of memories. Might have to jam the album soon. 4.2
3. Storm - That opening riff is some pantomime pillage ur village silliness. And it goes on. I want a keg of beer to throw around to this. It's kinda fun, bit simplistic but ok. Lol just read the lyric translation. Not sure whether to add or subtract points. 3.0 |

Ihsahn - Celestial Violence
https://youtu.be/kjS8SR6OcXg
Much of the references on Arktis are to Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen, who was the first to attempt to reach the North Pole in the late 1800s. He documented his journey through photography and Ihsahn was given permission by the Norwegian National Library to use the images.
The Scandinavian explorer was famous for embarking on the first journey to the North Pole by skiing, with minimal equipment. Ihsahn likened his own exploration on the record to Nansen’s urge to explore unknown vistas. |

03.03.20 | 3. "Oppi fjelett"
the riff is great, but i don't like anything else. it's pretty cheesy and i don't care a lot for the vocals. the repeating of what i assume is 'oppi fjelett' gets pretty annoying too

03.03.20 | 1. Winter Creatures - 4.0 - Completely agree with anatelier. Great song
2. Amelia - 3.0 - Completely get the winter vibes from this. The mix is very cold. Some parts were really atmospheric, but the vocals keep it from being better for me.

Gross vocals. The riff is actually a little engaging? I guess. The bass is mixed so low though. Why does black metal hate bass? +.2 for okay riff
2.2/5
"Stone's Ode"
This is very wintery. Though it makes me think of a wintery rain, which makes sense. This winter in New York hasn't been very cold. It rained so much this February, but no snow. This is a pleasant song though.
3.3/5
"Hazy Shade of Winter"
A live version? Bold decision. This is catchy, it reminds me of Donovan's "Sunshine Superman," but honestly not as cool. Simon and Garfunkel were always like "this is good" music for me, but I was never like "wowed" by them. I'm gonna listen to "Sunshine Superman," after I finish these Songs of the Day.
3/5
"Lost and Found"
Boring indie in a tunnel with a staticy beat? The staticy beat is good, but the rest of this is just drudgery. This "guitar solo" is very boring. I assume it's a guitar solo because the rest of the song took a back seat to it, but it's so meh I kinda can't tell?

03.09.20 | "Stone's Ode" - This pushed my blood pressure dangerously low, a nice song. 3.0
"Hazy Shade of Winter" - Ah, the nostalgia. I can't give less than a 5.0 to Simon & Garfunkel.
"Lost and Found" - 'How do you like your reverb? - Yes.' Okayish. 2.6
"Frost" - The piano should have been much louder in the mix, imo. In the beginning I really didn't like the vocals, but in the end, I have to admit this was a pretty good song. 3.2
"Dry and Dusty" - The synths are fantastic, nice winter synth vibes. The beats are interesting, but alltogether this isn't my type. But because of this atom sweet synths, I'll give a 3.3.

Invent Animate - White Wolf
This song isn't necessarily about winter, but it has a lot of wintery imagery and symbolism in the lyrics. Not expecting a high rating from this one since it is in fact "core", but it's one of my favorite songs so here we are.

03.10.20 | Okay i'm in, my rec is "Winter" by Bayside. The song was written at the time for their drummer John "Beatz" Holohan who passed away at 31 while on tour with the band. Their van hit a patch of ice causing several of the members and crew to be hospitalized and sadly claim the life of their drummer. The backstory of all of this makes the lyrics a lot heavier, but the song by itself is still wonderful:

03.10.20 | Winter Creatures - A pleasant song, nice and intimate. Nicely mixed, I give it a 3.5 at the very least
Amelia - I don't know, I don't really get a winter vibe at all from this personally. Song is kinda noisy in a cacophonous way, I don't know, maybe not for me. 2.5
Oppi Fjellet - Sweet, some black metal? Or more folky I guess, kinda had an old school Vintersorg vibe in the beginning which I was digging, but those vocals are very over the top, but not in a good way like Vintersorg. Eh dont really dig it, 2.5
Stone's Ode - Depending on my mood I might consider myself a Mount Eerie fan. But will today be the day? Far from his best IMO, fine song is kinda boring. But if I was in the woods, and I was listening to this, and it was snowing I don't know maybe that opinion would change. Y'all got any ketchup cause I feel like all i'm serving this morning are harshbrowns. 3
A Hazy Shade of Winter - Man Simon and Garfunkel always rip it up, how could you not like them? 4 |
DungeonBoy
03.10.20 | Lost And Found - Video Unavailable?! okay, found one that wasn't. Percussion sounds like a leaky faucet. Atmospheric I guess, but eh.. IDK guys.. low 3
Frost - Happy Birthday Divadude! A very interesting song if you get through it, kinda starts off like yeah, this is pleasant *piano goes avantgarde AF* then it really picks up. I can say this is something a little different, 4 for holding my interest especially given it's just a piano and a vocal.
Dry and Dusty - "The Theme is Winter" Lordpot, "Not Winter Themed but it was winter once and I was in a car"... okay. It's like the song with the leaky faucet percussion but this time it sounds like someone flicking a thin piece of metal. That pinging sound is absolutely grating. 2.5
Milch - Very tribal, very meditative, very 3
Sculpted - Hmm, not getting the winter vibe, but it's pretty engaging I'll give it that. Lots going on in the track but it all works really well together, idk feeling generous 3.5 |

2. Amelia - this sounds so much like the Cocteau Twins amirite...they are a one trick pony band, but one of the all time greats of all the many one trick pony bands. But they're still a one trick pony [3.5/5]
3. Oppi fellatio - I have a friend named Jonny, he's a drum teacher, he is in a lot of different bands...if he's ever allowed near a microphone in any band this is how he sings, just in english and about something nonsensical like carpet stains or aggressive water fowl or whatnot [1.5/5] |

03.11.20 | 4. Sonte's Choad - I have reached a bit of personal saturation with Phil Elvrum's style but please, if you haven't, read this rating as a 4 as it's probably deserving...but right now, despite this instrumentally being rather lovely, his vocals are causing me to rate this a [3.5/5]
5. A Hazy Shade of MUNTER - anyone who's anyone here knows despite being a folk pie chart sort of fella I 100% cannot stand these two wholesome berks, did nowt for me. (9 out of 10 cats would rather listen to Donovan) [1.5/5]
6. Lost & Found - recently discovered this band and they are leading proponents of the ol' atsmospheric dreamy indie, very liquid vibes to this, like cosying up from the cold in a bubbly spa-temperature womb [4.5/5] |
DoofDoof
03.11.20 | 7. Frost - bit of a jazz bar disaster, like when the snobby dude goes go to the jazz night, wrinkles his nose as this starts, suffers it, then is offered 50% off his tab. [1.5/5]
8. Dry and Dusty - this is one of my favourites by Fever Ray actually, one of the songs on the album to make me picture Africa without being too obvious about it, some 'world music' vibes [4.5/5]
9. Mulch - another one heavy on the atmospherics and they do a pretty good job of mixing the ethereal with the harsh. Might try out the whole album [4/5] |

11. Uisce - well this is pretty different, so I had a flick through what the style is like on the other songs on the album...I much prefer the style of the track you chose. Warrants a re-listen, might even do the album even though it's more classic 90s alt rock and sounds maybe 2nd or 3rd tier quality on first impression, but the vocals are unique enough for a novelty listen whatever happens [3/5]
12. California Dreamin - well known song, we've all heard it, solid [4/5] |
DoofDoof
03.11.20 | 13. fire, ice, whatever - I just knew this would be 10+ minutes long and include some epic intro (a lot of sput auto equates that to meaning it must be classic tier) - this is like ambient for the metal community I feel, it wanders, it never upsets, but...it wanders, I enjoyed it enough [3.5/5]
14. Nano - nanu nanu! Sadly this is pure warm toned blandness...but I like warm tones so it gets a 3 rather than a 2.5...but you've picked something that sounds the opposite to the theme me feels :/ [3/5]
15. Celestial Violence - here it is! The sputcore eurovision metal entry. Is it 6+ minutes long? check. Does it start all diva-like unadorned emoting? check. A lot of holding notes? check. The weird thing is the metal section sounds quite authentically metal, the vocals aren't as cheesy as the soft vocals. This only makes it sound even more ill-judged though. Who wants vocals that sound more puss than Bon Jovi mixed with typico orc vox? I don't get it. Ugh. Sputcore. [1.5/5] |
DoofDoof
03.11.20 | 16. Famous Blue Raincoat - laughing Len's best song, a classic [5/5]
17. -
18. Rocky Racoon - one of the weaker ones on the white album tbh [3/5]
19. Nordwaerts - nordwaerts? you can get a cream for that. I like this, this would be great soundtrack music for some fantasy nostalgia-fest...Golden Axe gets a TV Show or something. Or maybe Gauntlet. 'Valkyrie needs synth badly' [3.5/5] |
DoofDoof

21. White Wolf - I preferred the Sach rec [0.5/5]
22. Winter - that emo voice, how have 1000+ lead singers all perfected having the EXACT same vocal tone, a feat of humanity, this dude better be American - "an angel got her wings...friends stay side by side..." disgusting, the worst [0.5/5] |
DungeonBoy
03.11.20 | lol my rec getting torn to shreds, not the target audience I suppose. But I do love that all of us can come together from various backgrounds to discuss our tastes and why we may or may not love a certain song or style |
DoofDoof
03.11.20 | 23. Ground Glass - I could listen to an album of this, with a sound palette like this you can't go too wrong, mesmeric, almost like an acoustic MBV with some Fennesz in there too [4/5]
24. Pagan Poetry - my favourite Bjork album, so if a sputter is going to put up a Bjork rec (and someone always does) then this is the way to do it. A rare Doof Bjork 4 out of 5 no less [4/5]
25. Blood Bank - absolute classic B-Side, the man's best of those [5/5]
26. A Little Death - similar to those emo vocals, this is another style where approx 267,653 lead singers have managed to perfect this exact same style to the point they're totally interchangeable. Unlike the emo vocals these goth-y/post punk-y dead pan tones don't upset me, they just don't surprise me...and tbh the musical backing is also a surprise-free zone. It's what we call 'serviceable' and nowt more. [2.5/5] |

Divaman
03.11.20 | OK. I'll try to keep it brief. I met Hollohan when he was with his band prior to Bayside. I used to manage my wife's band and a few others, and sometimes put together shows, too.
I put together a charity benefit for an abused women charity at Stony Brook University, which is way out on Long Island, about two hours from NYC. I booked like 11 bands on the night his band was playing, put I was pretty inexperienced. I SHOULD have worked from the assumption that everything would go wrong so the schedule wouldn't go off the way I booked it, but I was young and stupidly optimistic.
I booked Hollohan's band for next to last, with a band from NYC in front of them. Then the last band lost their drummer, and asked if they could go first (because they felt silly going on acoustic after a bunch of full bands), and offered to start the show an hour earlier. I stupidly agreed. Then we got to the room that night, and somebody had trashed it, so instead of going on an hour earlier, the show started an hour later than we were originally scheduled.
When Hollohan and his band found out that they were now going on last, they pitched a fit, and asked me to fuck over the band from NYC and move them to last. I apologized for accidentally screwing them, but told them I couldn't in good conscience DELIBERATELY fuck over the NYC band. For the rest of the night, every fifteen minutes, Beatz and the girl who was the lead singer would pull me aside and try some different angle to convince me why I should move the NYC band behind them. All of this was going on as one of the other bands was pulling a hissy fit over the show having started late.
At one point, I remember telling my wife and her band (who had played the night before), "Do me a favor - if I ever come to you and tell you I'm going to try to put a show like this together again, I want you to FUCKING SHOOT ME!"
So that was the last time I ever saw Beatz Hollohan. I didn't even know he was the drummer for Bayside until I read that he was killed in that van accident. |

I could rave to this if it were a really dark room with flashing lights. Not sure it's as enjoyable hearing this sitting at a table though. Trif, DJ a dance party for the casual convo crew.

This sounds like the beginning of a YouTube video where a guy rants about some movie. This gives it a "stock music" quality that I don't like AT ALL. The wub sounds make me like it even less than stock music though. This was a chore to get through actually.

Think Gollum is the back-up singer, though. Just had a slight bridge, and now we're back to regular song. I like the basic chords - they're true. Oops another bridge? 03.13.20 | Lost And Found: Nice, but slightly boring. Love the quiet vibes though, so annoying that bands think you always need to get extremely loud at least at some moment. The whooshy-sounds towards the end are nice, the flow is great throughout. Love this way more towards the end. 3.8
Frost: Interesting voice. Cool how she switches between the talking-style and the very singy-style. Don't really like that sharp quality in her voice especially when it gets louder. 2.9
Dry And Dusty: Cold yes. Love the sound quality here. Stuff sounds really frozen. That analog sounding synth is cool. Also like how he keeps interest throughout, he has a knack of knowing exactly when to introduce something new thus keeping it from becoming stale. 3.6
Sculpted: Parts of this are nice, parts of this are a bit too synthetic-farty for me. 3.2
Uisce: That cover is nice. This is brooding and dark. Also it's 8 minutes long. Is that justifiable by the quality of the music? I'm not sure. Oh wait, I think I am. 2.5, beginning and quieter parts were cool, the louder bits (especially the vox) not so much.

"Fire Above, Ice Below"
Another black metal song, oh goodie, my favorite! Wow, his vocals sound so serious. The acoustic guitar is kinda like background noise. In fact, most of the music is somehow. God this is so boring my brain checked out and now that it's back it sounds almost exactly the same. Wait, there's growling now. Fuck. How can a song be so long, not be ambient, yet throw so few punches? +.2 because I assume this is just the kind of music that "I don't gettttt." Or at least it sounds like it's probably complex? What do I know, I like colorful, timbre-diverse, goofcore. And this is just a monochromatic, ultra-serious, dirge.

03.14.20 | 26. A Little Death To Laugh: I'm a bit of a sucker for all the various 'synth' and 'wave' amalgamation sub-genres. They tend to give me more dystopian or even halloweeny vibes than winter vibes tho. Either way, 3.5/5
27. The Sound of Winter: What the fuck dude. 1/5
28. The Cold Part: very appropriate. 5/5
29. Morning Bell: Kid A in general is a super icy album. Something from this would have been on the shortlist of recs if I hadn't chosen that Fever Ray song. Very much associate everything from this with getting fried on snowy winter nights when i was a kid and just walking around feeling angsty. 5/5 |

I mean it literally sounds like frozen trees snapping and falling in a blizzard. When I was young me and some friends did acid and walked around the forest in the dead of winter and this was basically the soundtrack. One friend couldn't handle the song because it sounded to him like someone horking and spitting, so i'll always secondarily hear the trees falling as some grotesque phlegm action. |

03.17.20 | Celestial Violence – It’s a good song, but honestly one of the least interesting Ihsahn songs I’ve heard. Has it’s moments for sure, I give it a 4
Famous Blue Raincoat – I’m a big fan of Leonard Cohen like a lot of people ‘round these parts. Song is great, love how is stuff kinda rides that somber but also haunting line. I think what attracts me the most to his stuff is his unexpected chord changes. Like you think you know what they are gonna do and then boom, they don’t. 4.5
Invisible – I do like that beat, I thought it was gonna be garbage based on the album cover. The male vocals are dumb. 3

Intense strings, emotional vocals, okay so far. That pick up is okay as well. Wait no, screaming, ugh. The screaming ruins what was a pretty decent buildup.

"Famous Blue Raincoat"
I don't think it was Metalrain who rec'd this then, but this was a Song of the Day in the past. In fact, Cohen seems pretty popular with this group. Cohen's voice is simple, but warm. This is simple and I like the strings A LOT. I'm gonna give it a good score since I know the song and I even like it. Though it's not my favorite by any stretch.

Great song. I love artists who can tell goofy stories. The honky-tonk piano and McCartney's "do dooo" are genius. I love The Beatles weird vocalizations. Like Lady Madonna's "pa pa pa pa's." If I were a tyrannical dictator, this kinda music would be the first to go. Growling, lame riffs, drum abuse.
1/5
"Winter"
The guitar tone is pretty, and the vocals are fine enough. Lame in an emo-ey way though.
2.6/5
"Ground Glass"
It's an atmospheric peace with drowned out vocals. This causes it to feel so much just like bland background music. It's good for background music.

03.23.20 | Foxes in Fiction + Benoit Pioulard - Alright, they're off to a bad start already because I HATE it when songs stick audio film clips in them. Just play the fucking song! OK, song itself is kind of dreamy, which is good, but also kind of boring, which isn't. The vocals themselves are OK, but I don't like that whole washed out aspect to the sound. 2.8. |
Divaman
03.24.20 | Bjork - This weird-ass chick, huh? OK, I like some of her stuff. I'm pretty sure she wasn't born on this planet, though. Anyway...A little twinkly synth opening, I'm good with that. A minute and a half in, and it feels a little formless. It hasn't totally gotten away, though. I bet she was wearing a swan outfit when she was singing this. Just saying. About 3 minutes in, and it's OK, but it hasn't really grabbed me. Ohh, now she's really getting into it. Oops, the song just came to a sudden stop. Now she's saying she loves him. Repeatedly. Apparently her girlfriends agree, because they're backing her up on that claim. Now she's using their steady refrain so she can vocally wander off in weird directions. And that's about it. Hmm. I'll give it a 3, that's my best offer. |

03.24.20 | Pagan Poetry - I used to really dig this album, but I haven't listened to it in years. This is a really good song though, from what I would consider the most essential ba-jork album. Paganism is cool, so is poetry, so I guess this is a 4.5 for ol DB. |

03.25.20 | Bon Iver - OK, I usually hate these pretentious bastards. They should have been bludgeoned to death for the song titles of that "22, A Million" LP, and I skipped their last album entirely. (I did like the song they had on that one Twilight soundtrack, though). So let's give this a listen. A little strummy guitar and some high pitched vocals. OK. Hmm. Very repetitive, though. Not much variation at all. Nope, can't give it more than a 2.5. |

03.25.20 | 25. Blood Bank - Been a long time since I last jammed this, still feels so good. 4.0 |

03.26.20 | Cold Cave - nice synth start. Vocalist is like Iggy Pop overdosing on Nyquil. I've heard worse. Song doesn't move much, but I like the basic sound. I'll go with a 3.3.
Now I get a day off, while you bastards throttle my song. |

03.27.20 | "Blood Bank" - I dated a girl once who loved Bon Iver, but i still don't know how to say their name. Bahn ee-ver, eye-vir, eye-ver.. wtf knows. "chewing on a candy bar" "i'm in love with your cheese" good song, the drums sound like they were recorded through a wall. I listening to some new stuff from this dude recently that sounded like commercial pop music and it was.. turble, but this I can get into, does the whole album sound like this? 4/5
"A Little Death to Laugh" - lol, isn't this Wes from American Nightmare's post-punk synth stuff. I'm always kinda turned off by this sound, mainly the vocals. I liked the Faint back in the day, but this is just, idk. The music is interesting enough. It's fine, I see why people might like it. 3/5
"The Sound of Winter" - lol, what? when I was in elementary school I absolutely loved Bush. Sixteen Stone and the other album with Greedy Fly got me through life as a kid. Dude has a great voice for this type of music. Man this is pretty great radio rock honestly. I'm a 3.5 it, it's Friday baby! |

03.28.20 | Modest Mouse - This is another one of those bands that I've never really been able to get into. (I think I even have this album.) But maybe I will here. Let's go. Country fiddle and deliberately offkey something or other. I can hear what you mean about the wintry feel, Pangea. Some tasteful electric acoustic guitar. Same lyric line repeated over and over. I'll give it a 3.0 for the atmosphere, but it feels like the kind of thing that Brand New did better on Daisy. |

03.29.20 | Radiohead - I've gotten more fond of these guys since they released the last album, but they're not one of my favorites. I own this LP, but I don't go back to it a lot. Yorke's voice often annoys me. As for this song - I like the understated keys. Percussion is too much in the forefront, though. It's a little cool, but also kind of repetitive. I'll give it a 3.1. |
Divaman
03.30.20 | An Pierle and White Velvet - Kind of quiet and maybe vaguely ominous. I'll bet these folks are Kate Bush fans. 3.2 |

30. Cold Winter - Soft and quiet. 3.3 |
DungeonBoy
03.30.20 | The Cold Part - This is almost a good song. Interesting melody choices, and then random stuff mixed in throughout to fill the repetitive monotony. This track feels twice as long as it actually is. 2.5
Morning Bell - I don't like most Radiohead, but i'm gonna try really hard to be open minded here. Welp there you go Thom York had to go and ruin it with his god awful voice and "deep" lyrics. Some of the tonal shifts in this are really cool actually, though, there was a part about halfway through that kinda reminded me of Opeth, and I actually dug it. 3 for that shift around the halfway mark.
Cold Winter - Should have saved my interesting melody choices comment for this song. Everything feels totally unexpected on first listen, like where is this track even going. The music boxish synth is pretty cool, diggin that tone. Mix is excellent. Gotta give this track a little bonus points for how different it is but how it all kinda comes together. Never really grabs me per se, but an enjoyable one time listen - 3.5 |

Rocky Racoon: Like many others said before, not one of my fave Beatles tunes but it still rules, especially the ending. 4.0
Nordwaerts: I'm sorry garas, I'm not that big of a dungeon synth guy it turns out. Don't hate it, don't love it either. 2.5

White Wolf: Don't like the vox and production. 2.0 |

03.30.20 | Winter: This sounds like a good bar-song, singing along with your friends and being sentimental. I think I would have liked this a lot 10 years ago possibly. 3.0
Ground Glass: Yeah I like this. It's dreamy and nicely distorted. I totally get the winter vibes too by the way. 3.6
Pagan Poetry: My Björk adventure has just begun a week ago, but I already love her. That voice is incredible, production is amazing, music is nicely diverse. 4.0
Blood Bank: Bon Iver just isn't for me I guess. I think they're a little too sappy and something about them annoys me. Sorry! 2.3
A Little Death To Laugh: Ha, these guys have listened to Sisters Of Mercy! I kind of dig! Nicely dark and synthy. 3.2 |
Trifolium
03.30.20 | The Sound Of Winter: I like this in a Chris Cornell You Know My Name kind of way. Some of these more poppy rock groups just have a certain spark. These guys are one of them. They don't come around often, but when they do I can do nothing but enjoy. 3.7
The Cold Part: Don't know if I really like that violin, but the rickety drums and lazy vox are nice, and the instrumentation is nicely weird. 3.2
Morning Bell: Oh Radiohead. Lovely bunch. I like this of course, although I never really feel the need to revisit anymore. Perhaps this is a nice reminder... 4.0
You Could Feel The Sky: Never really been into BoC, as you know Pots. A bit too glitchy for me, and too much mellotron-like sounds, although I like these stretched vocal samples (?) in the background. 3.3 |

03.30.20 | "Pagan Poetry"
Pretty strings and the electronic pulses are cool. Bjork's voice is as pretty as ever. I remember years ago when I told someone that the music video for "Hunter" was super freaky and he was like "that's nothing watch this one" and it was the one for "Pagan Poetry." The needles and other piercings she wore were disturbing, and I was less interested in Bjork because now I was like "great, this lady makes shock value videos." That was years ago, and now I love her work. Lyrically, it's pretty simple. She's in love. Fantastic song that evokes a lot of emotion and sounds cool musically.
4.8/5
"Blood Bank"
Not into those vocals at all. Wow, this is musically super dull too. Only 3 minutes in and I feel like it's been 10.
2.5/5
"A Little Death to Laugh"
Is this from 1982? No, 2012? Ah, very dated sounding. Nothing about this is memorable, though I guess the synths remind me of Gary Numan a bit, so that's cool.

03.30.20 | "The Sound of Winter"
Ew Bush. I heard their debut in full and gave it a 2 (and that one's supposed to be their best one.) Holy generic butt rock! Rolled my eyes at "Judas lips." God this song is just a treasure trove of generic rock cliche lyrics. "Hang onto yourself" wow original. The English shouldn't have been allowed to make grunge.
2.1/5
"The Cold Part"
Nice violin. This is pretty chill, but I can't say it's really grabbing me. I do like the spacey atmosphere though.
3.3/5
"Cold Winter"
Simple so far. The twinkling is actually fairly engaging as are the drums. This is really intense actually, in a good way. This weirdly reminds me of Radiohead, actually. I could easily see Thom Yorke singing this.
4.2/5
"You Could Feel The Sky"
How the fuck does this sound like spitting to anyone? I can hear it as trees snapping, but honestly, it sounds more like someone scrapping a zipper. This sounds like it's meant to capture a single moment rather than progress through an entire song, making me think "ambient music." Which is fine, but I'm not one for ambient music. It's pleasant for what it is though.

03.30.20 | White Wolf - Invent, Animate - Wow, I was not expecting metalcore in a sput song of the day at all. I actually quite dug this. Metalcore is usually a miss for me, but I like the vocals and the fast energy in this song. The breakdowns could be done without though. 3.4
Winter - Bayside - Hey! I love Bayside, another rather unexpected band to find in this crowd. I don't think I've ever actually heard this track, but it's nice. 3.3
Ground Glass - Foxes in Fiction & Benoit Pioulard - This is lovely, very winter-y. 3.6
Pagan Poetry - Bjork - I could never find myself invested in Bjork, not yet anyhow. This is a nice song though, I like it. I'll spin it more as time goes on in hopes that it connects with me more. 3.5
Blood Bank - Bon Iver - This is pretty bare bones. It's alright, It isn't terribly interesting to me. 3.1
A Little Death To Laugh - Cold Cave - Hmm, I don't like the uhh beeps of the electronics? I don't know the technical terms. I enjoy the "bass" in the song though, and some of the other electronic sounds, sounds kinda 8-bit. I think I enjoy the vocals, not crazy about them, but I enjoy them. 3
The Sound of Winter - Bush - lol alright then. This is kind of weird. It feels like there should be a huge anthemic feel to this, but there's something with the production that lacks any kind of oomph. Maybe it's the drums. This is okay though, it's not anything that I'd listen to again, but It's not bad. 2.9
The Cold Part - Modest Mouse - I really enjoy the bleakness of this song, it aptly captures the cold dreary feeling of winter and isolation nicely.
Morning Bell - Radiohead - Dunno how this relates to winter, personally, but it's obviously a great song. I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites off of Kid A, but still a great listen. 3.9
Cold Winter - An Pierle - this is lovely. 3.3
You Could Feel The Sky - Boards of Canada- pleasant and bare. I enjoyed this and may look further. 3.5
