I like the accenting piano notes, they feel well-placed. This is quaint and enjoyable but idk if I'm down for second helpings. 3.4 2. Amelia - If I did a tier list for Treasure off the top of my head, this'd probably have been A-, but listening to it on its own this seems a bit harsh; maybe it always gets overshadowed by Pandora just before it? Wonderful track, this brings back a lot of memories. Might have to jam the album soon. 4.2 3. Storm - That opening riff is some pantomime pillage ur village silliness. And it goes on. Divaman 03.03.20	Yeah, I wanted to educate myself a little on the subject of black metal, and I was halfway through the book before I started seeing stuff that indicated that the book doesn't actually have a great reputation within the black metal community itself.

Why does black metal hate bass? +.2 for okay riff 2.2/5 "Stone's Ode" This is very wintery. Though it makes me think of a wintery rain, which makes sense. This winter in New York hasn't been very cold. It rained so much this February, but no snow. This is a pleasant song though. 3.3/5 "Hazy Shade of Winter" A live version? Bold decision. This is catchy, it reminds me of Donovan's "Sunshine Superman," but honestly not as cool. Simon and Garfunkel were always like "this is good" music for me, but I was never like "wowed" by them. I'm gonna listen to "Sunshine Superman," after I finish these Songs of the Day. 3/5 "Lost and Found" Boring indie in a tunnel with a staticy beat? The staticy beat is good, but the rest of this is just drudgery. This "guitar solo" is very boring. I assume it's a guitar solo because the rest of the song took a back seat to it, but it's so meh I kinda can't tell? 2.6/5

"Lost and Found" - 'How do you like your reverb? - Yes.' Okayish. 2.6 "Frost" - The piano should have been much louder in the mix, imo. In the beginning I really didn't like the vocals, but in the end, I have to admit this was a pretty good song. 3.2 "Dry and Dusty" - The synths are fantastic, nice winter synth vibes. The beats are interesting, but alltogether this isn't my type. But because of this atom sweet synths, I'll give a 3.3. "Milch" - Sadly it was just a hit'n'miss for me. 2.5

It's like the song with the leaky faucet percussion but this time it sounds like someone flicking a thin piece of metal. A Hazy Shade of MUNTER - anyone who's anyone here knows despite being a folk pie chart sort of fella I 100% cannot stand these two wholesome berks, did nowt for me. (9 out of 10 cats would rather listen to Donovan) [1.5/5] 6. Lost & Found - recently discovered this band and they are leading proponents of the ol' atsmospheric dreamy indie, very liquid vibes to this, like cosying up from the cold in a bubbly spa-temperature womb [4.5/5]

Mulch - another one heavy on the atmospherics and they do a pretty good job of mixing the ethereal with the harsh. Might try out the whole album [4/5]

Nano - nanu nanu! Sadly this is pure warm toned blandness...but I like warm tones so it gets a 3 rather than a 2.5...but you've picked something that sounds the opposite to the theme me feels :/ [3/5] 15. Celestial Violence - here it is! The sputcore eurovision metal entry. Is it 6+ minutes long? check. Does it start all diva-like unadorned emoting? check. A lot of holding notes? check. The weird thing is the metal section sounds quite authentically metal, the vocals aren't as cheesy as the soft vocals. This only makes it sound even more ill-judged though. Who wants vocals that sound more puss than Bon Jovi mixed with typico orc vox? I don't get it. Ugh. Sputcore. [1.5/5]

Ground Glass - I could listen to an album of this, with a sound palette like this you can't go too wrong, mesmeric, almost like an acoustic MBV with some Fennesz in there too [4/5] 24. Pagan Poetry - my favourite Bjork album, so if a sputter is going to put up a Bjork rec (and someone always does) then this is the way to do it. A rare Doof Bjork 4 out of 5 no less [4/5] 25. Blood Bank - absolute classic B-Side, the man's best of those [5/5] 26. A Little Death - similar to those emo vocals, this is another style where approx 267,653 lead singers have managed to perfect this exact same style to the point they're totally interchangeable. Unlike the emo vocals these goth-y/post punk-y dead pan tones don't upset me, they just don't surprise me...and tbh the musical backing is also a surprise-free zone. It's what we call 'serviceable' and nowt more. [2.5/5]

Divaman 03.11.20	OK. I'll try to keep it brief. I met Hollohan when he was with his band prior to Bayside. I used to manage my wife's band and a few others, and sometimes put together shows, too. I put together a charity benefit for an abused women charity at Stony Brook University, which is way out on Long Island, about two hours from NYC. I booked like 11 bands on the night his band was playing, put I was pretty inexperienced. I SHOULD have worked from the assumption that everything would go wrong so the schedule wouldn't go off the way I booked it, but I was young and stupidly optimistic. I booked Hollohan's band for next to last, with a band from NYC in front of them. Then the last band lost their drummer, and asked if they could go first (because they felt silly going on acoustic after a bunch of full bands), and offered to start the show an hour earlier. I stupidly agreed. Then we got to the room that night, and somebody had trashed it, so instead of going on an hour earlier, the show started an hour later than we were originally scheduled. When Hollohan and his band found out that they were now going on last, they pitched a fit, and asked me to fuck over the band from NYC and move them to last. I apologized for accidentally screwing them, but told them I couldn't in good conscience DELIBERATELY fuck over the NYC band. For the rest of the night, every fifteen minutes, Beatz and the girl who was the lead singer would pull me aside and try some different angle to convince me why I should move the NYC band behind them. All of this was going on as one of the other bands was pulling a hissy fit over the show having started late. At one point, I remember telling my wife and her band (who had played the night before), "Do me a favor - if I ever come to you and tell you I'm going to try to put a show like this together again, I want you to FUCKING SHOOT ME!" So that was the last time I ever saw Beatz Hollohan. I didn't even know he was the drummer for Bayside until I read that he was killed in that van accident.

This gives it a "stock music" quality that I don't like AT ALL. The wub sounds make me like it even less than stock music though. Divaman 03.13.20	Agalloch - Ugh, 10-minute song. Bummed before it even starts. Ok, bring it. Dramatic beginning, that's good. Kind of a slow build-up, nice. First vocals - hmm. Could be better, but could be worse. Whispering guy now. Can't decide if it's too silly or not.Three and a half minutes in, and I think I'm kind of digging it. Think Gollum is the back-up singer, though. Just had a slight bridge, and now we're back to regular song. I like the basic chords - they're true. Oops another bridge? Or is this the beginning of the closing? Pretty decent overall. I'm gonna 3.5 that sucka.
Trifolium 03.13.20	Lost And Found: Nice, but slightly boring. Love the quiet vibes though, so annoying that bands think you always need to get extremely loud at least at some moment. The whooshy-sounds towards the end are nice, the flow is great throughout. Love this way more towards the end. 3.8 Frost: Interesting voice. Cool how she switches between the talking-style and the very singy-style. Don't really like that sharp quality in her voice especially when it gets louder. 2.9 Dry And Dusty: Cold yes. Love the sound quality here. Stuff sounds really frozen. That analog sounding synth is cool. Also like how he keeps interest throughout, he has a knack of knowing exactly when to introduce something new thus keeping it from becoming stale. 3.6 Sculpted: Parts of this are nice, parts of this are a bit too synthetic-farty for me. 3.2 Uisce: That cover is nice. This is brooding and dark. Also it's 8 minutes long. Is that justifiable by the quality of the music? I'm not sure. Oh wait, I think I am. 2.5, beginning and quieter parts were cool, the louder bits (especially the vox) not so much.

In fact, Cohen seems pretty popular with this group. Cohen's voice is simple, but warm. This is simple and I like the strings A LOT. I'm gonna give it a good score since I know the song and I even like it. Though it's not my favorite by any stretch. 3.7/5

They should have been bludgeoned to death for the song titles of that "22, A Million" LP, and I skipped their last album entirely. (I did like the song they had on that one Twilight soundtrack, though). So let's give this a listen. A little strummy guitar and some high pitched vocals. OK. Hmm. Very repetitive, though. Not much variation at all. Nope, can't give it more than a 2.5.

I listening to some new stuff from this dude recently that sounded like commercial pop music and it was.. turble, but this I can get into, does the whole album sound like this? 4/5 "A Little Death to Laugh" - lol, isn't this Wes from American Nightmare's post-punk synth stuff. I'm always kinda turned off by this sound, mainly the vocals. I liked the Faint back in the day, but this is just, idk. The music is interesting enough. It's fine, I see why people might like it. 3/5 "The Sound of Winter" - lol, what? when I was in elementary school I absolutely loved Bush. Sixteen Stone and the other album with Greedy Fly got me through life as a kid. Dude has a great voice for this type of music. Man this is pretty great radio rock honestly. I'm a 3.5 it, it's Friday baby!

Divaman 03.28.20	Modest Mouse - This is another one of those bands that I've never really been able to get into. (I think I even have this album.) But maybe I will here. Let's go. Country fiddle and deliberately offkey something or other. I can hear what you mean about the wintry feel, Pangea. Some tasteful electric acoustic guitar. Same lyric line repeated over and over. I'll give it a 3.0 for the atmosphere, but it feels like the kind of thing that Brand New did better on Daisy.

Divaman 03.29.20	Radiohead - I've gotten more fond of these guys since they released the last album, but they're not one of my favorites. I own this LP, but I don't go back to it a lot. Yorke's voice often annoys me. As for this song - I like the understated keys. Percussion is too much in the forefront, though. It's a little cool, but also kind of repetitive. I'll give it a 3.1.

DungeonBoy 03.30.20	The Cold Part - This is almost a good song. Interesting melody choices, and then random stuff mixed in throughout to fill the repetitive monotony. This track feels twice as long as it actually is. 2.5 Morning Bell - I don't like most Radiohead, but i'm gonna try really hard to be open minded here. Welp there you go Thom York had to go and ruin it with his god awful voice and "deep" lyrics. Some of the tonal shifts in this are really cool actually, though, there was a part about halfway through that kinda reminded me of Opeth, and I actually dug it. 3 for that shift around the halfway mark. Cold Winter - Should have saved my interesting melody choices comment for this song. Everything feels totally unexpected on first listen, like where is this track even going. The music boxish synth is pretty cool, diggin that tone. Mix is excellent. Gotta give this track a little bonus points for how different it is but how it all kinda comes together. Never really grabs me per se, but an enjoyable one time listen - 3.5

They don't come around often, but when they do I can do nothing but enjoy. 3.7 The Cold Part: Don't know if I really like that violin, but the rickety drums and lazy vox are nice, and the instrumentation is nicely weird. 3.2 Morning Bell: Oh Radiohead. Lovely bunch. I like this of course, although I never really feel the need to revisit anymore. Perhaps this is a nice reminder... 4.0 You Could Feel The Sky: Never really been into BoC, as you know Pots. A bit too glitchy for me, and too much mellotron-like sounds, although I like these stretched vocal samples (?) in the background. 3.3
ArsMoriendi 03.30.20	"Pagan Poetry" Pretty strings and the electronic pulses are cool. Bjork's voice is as pretty as ever. I remember years ago when I told someone that the music video for "Hunter" was super freaky and he was like "that's nothing watch this one" and it was the one for "Pagan Poetry." The needles and other piercings she wore were disturbing, and I was less interested in Bjork because now I was like "great, this lady makes shock value videos." That was years ago, and now I love her work. Lyrically, it's pretty simple. She's in love. Fantastic song that evokes a lot of emotion and sounds cool musically. 4.8/5 "Blood Bank" Not into those vocals at all. Wow, this is musically super dull too. Only 3 minutes in and I feel like it's been 10. 2.5/5 "A Little Death to Laugh" Is this from 1982? No, 2012? Ah, very dated sounding. Nothing about this is memorable, though I guess the synths remind me of Gary Numan a bit, so that's cool. 2.8/5

God this song is just a treasure trove of generic rock cliche lyrics. "Hang onto yourself" wow original. The English shouldn't have been allowed to make grunge. 2.1/5 "The Cold Part" Nice violin. This is pretty chill, but I can't say it's really grabbing me. I do like the spacey atmosphere though. 3.3/5 "Cold Winter" Simple so far. The twinkling is actually fairly engaging as are the drums. This is really intense actually, in a good way. This weirdly reminds me of Radiohead, actually. I could easily see Thom Yorke singing this. 4.2/5 "You Could Feel The Sky" How the fuck does this sound like spitting to anyone? I can hear it as trees snapping, but honestly, it sounds more like someone scrapping a zipper. This sounds like it's meant to capture a single moment rather than progress through an entire song, making me think "ambient music." Which is fine, but I'm not one for ambient music. It's pleasant for what it is though. 3.1/5

Metalcore is usually a miss for me, but I like the vocals and the fast energy in this song. The breakdowns could be done without though. 3.4 Winter - Bayside - Hey! I love Bayside, another rather unexpected band to find in this crowd. I don't think I've ever actually heard this track, but it's nice. 3.3 Ground Glass - Foxes in Fiction & Benoit Pioulard - This is lovely, very winter-y. 3.6 Pagan Poetry - Bjork - I could never find myself invested in Bjork, not yet anyhow. This is a nice song though, I like it. I'll spin it more as time goes on in hopes that it connects with me more. 3.5 Blood Bank - Bon Iver - This is pretty bare bones. It's alright, It isn't terribly interesting to me. 3.1 A Little Death To Laugh - Cold Cave - Hmm, I don't like the uhh beeps of the electronics? I don't know the technical terms. I enjoy the "bass" in the song though, and some of the other electronic sounds, sounds kinda 8-bit. I think I enjoy the vocals, not crazy about them, but I enjoy them. 3 The Sound of Winter - Bush - lol alright then. This is kind of weird. It feels like there should be a huge anthemic feel to this, but there's something with the production that lacks any kind of oomph. Maybe it's the drums. This is okay though, it's not anything that I'd listen to again, but It's not bad. 2.9 The Cold Part - Modest Mouse - I really enjoy the bleakness of this song, it aptly captures the cold dreary feeling of winter and isolation nicely. Morning Bell - Radiohead - Dunno how this relates to winter, personally, but it's obviously a great song. I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites off of Kid A, but still a great listen. 3.9 Cold Winter - An Pierle - this is lovely. 3.3 You Could Feel The Sky - Boards of Canada- pleasant and bare. I enjoyed this and may look further. 3.5

The percussion reminds of something I might hear in "Stomp!" Sounds appropriate for the times, sort of post-apocalyptic. Not bad. I'll give it a 3.1.
