01.22.21 | Radiohead - The King of Limbs
everything went downhill with this shit fest. the grating "sounds" of Feral are enough to make this one of the worst albums not only in Radiohead's discography but for all music. and all their albums since then have followed suit in the worst possible way. make radiohead great again. loved A Moon Shaped Pool though |
Hyperion1001
01.22.21 | the first band to disappoint me was honestly system of a down. back around the 5th and 6th grade (10/11 years old) SOAD was my absolute favorite band. self-titled, toxicity, and steal this album, i had a little blue and green CD walkman and i must have played those albums hundreds of times. i had tab books so i could learn all the songs, tshirts from hot topic, everything. i was an SOAD megafan.
then they announced they were coming out with a new album, called mesmerize. i was more excited than i had been for just about anything up to that point. i even went as far as to preorder it from walmart (small town so it was legit the only place to buy music). i had already heard BYOB a thousand times on the radio because it got massive airplay on my local rock station, and i wasnt super into it but even then i knew the radio tunes were usually the lamer ones, so i was still stoked.
i remember the day it came out vividly. i got home, put it in my walkman, laid in bed with headphones in and hit play.
and i hated it.
i was so beyond disappointed. i hated the guitarists vocals, which were everywhere on that record. i hated the way it sounded. the songs sounded like someone doing bad covers of better SOAD tunes. serj sucked, the riffs sucked, everything sucked. god, i was so bummed. i tried for a few weeks to force myself to like it but i just couldnt. i hated that record and i still do (probably because i have such negative emotions associated with it). it was so bad that i didnt even bother listening to hypnotize, and still to this day havent listened to it.
that was the first album i ever heard that taught me that even your favorite things have the potential to massively disappoint you in ways you couldnt even predict. |

Y'all didn't deserve it.

Think I was about 14 or 15 when the single came out with him and Dre goofing around as Batman and Robin and I thought ‘ok it’s dumb but it’s fun which is the same as My Name Is and Real Slim Shady’ so I thought it would still be a good raw album with a few dumb cuts.
