1Unwound
Leaves Turn Inside You

Oh wow, this is classic noisy post-hardcore heaven.

Pony Express Record

Crazy album full of creative ideas.
4Fugazi
The Argument
5NoMeansNo
One
6At the Drive-In
Relationship of Command

7...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
Source Tags and Codes
8Morphine
The Night
9The Microphones
The Glow Pt. 2

This album is a joyful lesson about how lo-fi indie is done right. Epic and very touching record.
10Radiohead
OK Computer
11Duster
Stratosphere

Slowly becoming the best slowcore album ever? Stratosphere: Yes.
12The Life and Times
Tragic Boogie

Alt-rock indie masterpiece which in the end beats my Shiner favorite The Egg.
13The Strokes
Is This It

Why not listing one of the first two Strokes albums here? No rock record ever reaches the level of music-played-lazy-and-cool like this one.
14My Bloody Valentine
Loveless

m b v could be listed here as well but Loveless is the mother of all shoegaze and reverb indie music.
15Women
Public Strain

Just ice cold love for this record. It is all about riffs and maybe the best sound ever recorded.
16Deerhunter
Halcyon Digest

Simply amazing indie.
17Beach House
Depression Cherry

This is the soundtrack of your nicest dream. Album grows and grows and is suddenly one of your most well rounded piece of music in your collection ever.
18The Horrors
Primary Colours

My favorite post-punk record ever because it is so varied and...ehm...good.
19Ween
Quebec

Ween did their best with Quebec: laid back rocking and dark. This is THE varied alternative rock allrounder.
20Modest Mouse
The Moon & Antarctica

An album like a bridge from Indie to Alternative and Emo. Dislike the cover art...
21Neutral Milk Hotel
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
22Motorpsycho
Phanerothyme

Strange masterpiece which combines indie with jazz and kind of a 60ies vibe. Never boring und great musicianship.
23The Afghan Whigs
Black Love
24Mr. Bungle
California

The most timeless and perfect experimental rock album.
25Logh
The Raging Sun
26Hum
Downward Is Heavenward

You can find peace in these wall of sound between Deftones and Smashing Pumpkins...and a lot of hidden details.
27Cave In
Jupiter

Progressive post-hardcore space rock which has to grow on you. But it did over the years.
28The Mars Volta
De-Loused in the Comatorium

This was ahead of its time and it was never copied. No more words needed.
29New End Original
Thriller

The one of a kind adult version of perfect solid emo rock music.
30Ten Grand
This Is The Way To Rule

So underrated. This should be as big as La Dispute, Hot Water Music or all other bands which are considered as emotional and punk and post hardcore. This album is the adult version of this genre.
31Breach
Kollapse

THE post hardcore or post metal album that never ever gets boring. It is a flight through highly interesting and creative songs. And in the end...kollapse.
32Queens of the Stone Age
Songs for the Deaf

One of the coolest rock records ever made. Sound is so tight.
33Cloud Nothings
Attack on Memory
34Rival Schools
United By Fate
35Idles
Joy as an Act of Resistance
36The Smashing Pumpkins

44Oxbow
The Narcotic Story
45Deftones
Koi No Yokan
46Weezer
Pinkerton
47Thursday
Full Collapse

I am not the youngest guy and it is ridiculous that i love this one more than ever. So much energy and emotion. A lot of bands tried to be as good as Thursday on this one but they all had failed.
48Swans
The Seer

My favorite record of Swans. Listen to it as loud as you can. So mighty.
49Boris
Flood

Best "rock" album when it comes to repetition and hypnotism. Could hear that endless forever and i would die happy.
50Magnolia Electric Co
Magnolia Electric Co
51Have a Nice Life
Deathconsciousness

The Album that is interesting and beautiful forever.
52Mastodon
Leviathan

Some might say this is overrated, but why? Leviathan is a totally relentless genre mix. Sludge, Hardcore, Metal, Prog...Big plus is, that it is not an epic album anyways. The songs are tight and sharp and the drums giving you permanent fire.
53Propagandhi
Supporting Caste

Punkrock becoming progressive.
54Bright Eyes
Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground
55Alex G
Trick
56Bad Brains
Rock For Light
57Sufjan Stevens
Illinois
58Elliott Smith
Either/Or
59Mount Eerie
A Crow Looked At Me

The most depressive piece of music? Maybe. But in the end it is beautiful.
60Joanna Newsom
Ys
61Weyes Blood
Titanic Rising

This albums is growing forever. Is it possible that pop music goes deep? Very difficult, but Titanic Rising does that.
62Anna von Hausswolff
Dead Magic

This album is THE best of modern drone heavy goth female singing music ever made.
63Grouper
A I A: Alien Observer

Possibly my favorite musical out-of-this-world experience. Transcendental.

Eerie organ music done right. Mystical and beautiful tones.
66Eluvium
Copia
67Holly Herndon
Platform

Electronic sounds as art which works if you listen carefully.
68Nick Drake
Pink Moon

Quintessential singer-songwriter folk.
69Talk Talk
Laughing Stock

The mother of all post rock records?
70Rush
Permanent Waves (40th Anniversary)

Addictive musicianship.
71Black Sabbath
Master of Reality

The heavy music allrounder.
72Boards of Canada
In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country
73Porcupine Tree
The Incident
74Fates Warning
Disconnected
75Cynic
Traced in Air
76Dream Theater
Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory

Think of the band what you want. This record is crazy.
77Akercocke
Words That Go Unspoken...
78Opeth
Still Life
79Be'lakor
Vessels

Strange production, strange song structures, strange version of progressive death metal. But therefore the most unique and addictive one. I will never ever be bored by Vessels.
80Converge
Jane Doe

Chaotic annoying music done perfectly.
81Melvins
A Senile Animal

This is how a hard rocking rock album should sound like.
82Today Is the Day
Sadness Will Prevail

Massive slap of anti-music. It is long and you probably won't reach its end but it is so much fun to get beaten up by this record.
83Shai Hulud
That Within Blood Ill-Tempered
84Gorguts
Obscura

An album that should not be forgotten just because it once had been ahead ot its time.
85Neurosis
A Sun That Never Sets

An album like lava you cannot fight.
86Gojira
From Mars to Sirius

This album was defining the post metal genre.
87Celtic Frost
Monotheist

Tom G. Warrior knows the formula which is not a secret. I am wondering why not many bands listen to this guy. Play your metal dark, simple and effective. Don't blow up your metal with lots of notes.
88Slayer
Reign in Blood

No words needed. This album is the king of metal.
89Megadeth
Rust in Peace
90Tool
Lateralus
91Vital Remains
Dechristianize

Totally slaying and carthatic death metal fest with songs without endings. Want a remaster of this one.
92Paysage d'Hiver
Paysage d'Hiver

These 3 songs are the ice coldest winter black metal i know. And it is not norwegian second wave. Treble is so high that it will hurt your ears and you have to listen closely to find all the things of the music.
93The Ruins of Beverast
Rain Upon the Impure

Band always delivered on a very high level. This album stood out as the bands uncut gem and for me it is their best. Production is raw, harsh and cold. A lot of details are hidden behind high treble and ambient noise. Music is genre best atmospheric black metal variety with a lot of doom in it.
94Lurker Of Chalice
Lurker Of Chalice

Unique sounding darkness. This is my perfect version of black metal. The cult of this album will never die.
95Kaospilot
Shadows

Timeless classic screamo classic. Maybe the genres best album ever? Not sure, but for sure it should be mentioned a way more often in the screamo classic lists.
96Suis La Lune
Riala

Ok...THIS is the best screamo record ever made. Every song is so emotional that you want to cry and shout your heart out loud.
97Gospel
The Moon Is a Dead World
98Saetia
Saetia
99Slint
Spiderland
100Melt-Banana
Fetch
101The Mountain Goats
The Sunset Tree
