Heavenward reminds me oddly of the first time I heard Deafheaven many a year ago and was enamored with how something so vicious and intense could maintain a subdued calm even at the height of its bombast. 01.01.25 | santa left me a banger in my stocking! very fun stuff, a little long and a touch samey is my only complaint. really cool stuff tho kinda like knapsack meets nirvana with some 90s alt rock hooks? did not expect it to be grungey at all, surprisingly mixes well with the emo and huge choruses. awesome vocal performance, really standout. love a good strained and passionate singer, good variety too. did not know he was in gorilla biscuits or quicksand haha. and some killer heavy fuzzy riffs with some acoustics, just well layered and well done stuff.
a few options but gonna go with mr tim as some may call him. sweet rec! i need more of this good stuff that's hiding, this was never on my radar. merry christmas and happy new years fellas. |
