Hyperion1001 02.03.25	nah the production on from wisdom is amazing it’s so organic and wide open. the drum kit sounds amazing and the mix is extremely well balanced and uncompressed. Colin marston’s entire production career is trying to make a metal album sound as good as that one.

What considerations are being given as to what constitutes "amazing production" and how are arriving at contradictions? If Dead Heart represents the "best produced metal album ever", if that's your basis of comparison, then that Gorguts album shouldn't even be sniffing this list.

Probably wouldn't highlight it as an exemplary prod job, but it's also far from 'sounding like shit'. Agree that Colored Sands wasn't Marston's finest hour. One of the worst ever, though? Tougher Than Nails have set the bar way too high.

NexCeleris 02.03.25	Don't think this was about dm, which is all I know. Never heard Nevermore. Appreciate the kind words, although Park would chase me off for my vanilla taste if he were around. Maintain that, of all the extreme metal releases I've heard, Ad Nauseam's III is the one that comes closest to perfection.

budgie 02.05.25	if you look at a parametric EQ with the middle frequencies zeroed out it looks "scooped" crunchy tone is with lots of mids (think kill em all), scooped tone is no mids (think master of puppets)
