Yes A Mastodon Guitar Solo

Went and saw Mastodon, TDEP, and Red Fang yesterday.
1Red Fang
Red Fang

Can't find their setlist, but they closed with their most famous song - can't remember the name.
2The Dillinger Escape Plan
Calculating Infinity

Setlist: Farewell, Mona Lisa, Room Full of Eyes, Milk Lizard, Panasonic Youth, Gold Teeth on a Bum, (whoever made this says this song is unknown, I'm pretty sure it was 43% Burnt), Sunshine the Werewolf
3Mastodon
Remission

Setlist: Dry Bone Valley, Black Tongue, Crystal Skull, I Am Ahab, Capillarian Crest, Colony of Birchmen, Megalodon, Blasteroid, Sleeping Giant, Ghost of Karelia, All the Heavy Lifting, Curl of the Burl, Spectrelight, Bedazzled Fingernails,Circle of Cysquatch, Aqua Dementia, Crack the Skye, Where Strides the Behemoth, Iron Tusk, March of the Fire Ants, Blood and Thunder

These guys put on a great show. They seemed genuinely appreciative of everyone coming out to see them. Their performance was a little stale (drummer was pretty awesome) and they kept putting the spotlight on the guitarist who didn't do anything interesting. Overall though, they seemed like the most down to earth of all the bands there.
5The Dillinger Escape Plan
Option Paralysis

Let me just say that Greg Puciato and Jeff Tuttle are fucking INSANE. None of the band members stopped moving for a second; they were building towers out of stuff they had onstage and then running and jumping off them. Greg kept climbing the PA towers on either side of the stage and jumping off, and when he wasn't doing that he was jumping into the crowd. They most definitely interacted with the audience the most. For their last song, Jeff jumped off stage and ran across the bar and all the way around the floor while Greg grabbed an extra pair of sticks and helped play the last bit of the song. Absolutely insane set.
6Mastodon
Call of the Mastodon

+1 for the most disappointing showing of the night. Yes, Mr. Brann, we get that you can do double bass and tom rolls...that doesn't mean that those should be the ONLY thing you do. It got to the point where I couldn't even tell the songs apart. They still sounded pretty great, but they didn't interact with the audience like at all and they hardly moved around. What should have been their most epic moment (bridge in Blood and Thunder) was weak and lazy. Plus, they're kind of douches....but more on that in a second.
7Red Fang
Red Fang

Best moments: their drummer constantly breaking stuff and having the technicians rush out mid-show to fix it. Prehistoric Dog (finally remembered the name) was a great closer.
8The Dillinger Escape Plan
Miss Machine

Best moments: the bass player eating it when he tried to jump over a box onstage. Greg getting picked up and thrown back onstage by a bouncer trying to get out of the pit and subsequently saying "you motherfuckers" at the crowd. Oh yeah, and the entirety of their set.
9Mastodon
Blood Mountain

Best moments: the guy that looked like James Hetfield that stood next to me at the bar. Yelling YES A MASTODON GUITAR SOLO and having no one but myself understand the reference. Meeting them at a signing (got an edited cd from wal mart signed, lol), even if they were all dicks that didn't make eye contact or interact with the people that had been waiting in the sun for 3 1/2 hours. Brent Hinds was a cool guy though. The rest of them can suck it. Best moment honestly was when they ended their set, because my feet hurt like hell and they played 21 frigging songs.
