03.18.12 | "I have such severe anxiety issues."
I have anxiety but not as much social anxiety as it is everything in general. I still go out and hang
around people but I'm always on edge and overthinking EVERYTHING. Which is why drinking works so well.
but yea my little brother has autism too. It's sad because I don't really think he has any friends. If
it were up to me I'd go up with him to his school and make him friends somehow. |

03.18.12 | So do you and autism split the rent? How does it work living with him? |

03.18.12 | Autism is such a sad case to have and to work with. My mother has worked with children with autism in the past. Very unfortunate. |
Trebor.
03.18.12 | It's not really sad, that's just who they are

03.18.12 | I feel bad for my brother but I don't at the same time because although he has it pretty bad, he will probably never be able to live on his own he also straight up doesn't give a fuck about anything. He can stay at home play video games for the rest of his life and you won't hear him complain once about it. He doesn't care what anyone thinks of him, so maybe he is the lucky one. |

03.18.12 | "Unless they have it so bad that they can't function"
Those are the type of children my mother worked with. My cousin, however, is autistic, though his case isn't nearly as serious. |

03.18.12 | Yeah I have Asperger's, a high-functioning form of autism. I can be pretty shy and am not quite as social as I probably should be. I wouldn't say I'm antisocial though. I also sometimes struggle in social situations and don't always understand things the way other people do. Not to mention the occasional anxiety problem, which sometimes can be pretty severe. But again, I live a good life and have a very supportive family. I dont want to think about where I would be without them. My younger (who is younger than me) also has autism. His is more severe, but still pretty high functioning. |
Divine
03.18.12 | Asperger's runs in my family too
The main thing that bugs me about it though is the whole eye contact thing |
Divine
03.18.12 | I also notice it runs more so in males than females |
wabbit
03.18.12 | Asperger is kinda a non issue in most cases (once you get pasted 18) but once you get old if you have any sort of memory loss you completely lose your aptitude for acceptable social behaviour as it is a learned skill not innate (which it is for most people).
But when I work with special needs kids autistic kids are my favourite cause they are normally pretty smart/ so much fun to tease. |

07.05.13 | apparently there was this degrassi episode where a mentally handicapped character attempts to start a school shooting, and they got a lot of criticism for that because it was really unrepresentative of how such people actually act and etc. |

07.05.13 | I've had this problem for all of my life. for so many reasons to. I could barely speak english during kindergarten through like 2nd grade. my mom would always get mad at me for saying something wrong or when I didn't understand something (it would usually escalate into scolding, or pinched sides/ears), back then I assumed everyone would do the same. |

07.05.13 | You could be like the dude in Hannibal with mild autism. He's awesome. I also have anxiety, but it's caused by having Epilepsy, not autism |
Mister Twister
07.05.13 | I'm have OCD and horrific anxiety issues. Not autistic, but it's still hard to talk to people. The only time I'm not feeling horrible about something I've said is when I'm saying something horrible, because I'm hating the person that I'm talking to. I don't try to start confrontations, others just find "trolling" (a.k.a. bullying) fun.
Seriously though, apparently when I get angry at people throwing things at me and taking my belongings, I'm in the wrong because "I got trolled" and that makes them in the right. Getting to the point where I've decided to try and bottle it up as well as I can, and not show them any reaction. Not sure if it'll make it worse since I will be a pushover, or make it better since they aren't seeing me get angry any more. |
tommygun
07.05.13 | they just lookin for a reaction, if you give em nothing they'll get bored and move on |
