Anthrax Among The Living |
Black Sabbath Paranoid |
Ladies and gentlemen, the first true heavy metal album. Okay, that's not entirely true. It wasn't the first heavy metal album (that would be Sabbath's s/t debut), but it is the one that really got the genre noticed. From the apocalyptic doom of "War Pigs", trippiness of "Planet Caravan", catchiness of the title track, to the bands' greatest song EVER, the almighty "Iron Man". Tony Iommi is the single most important person in the genre and is at his peak on this album. If you don't have it then you cannot truly call yourself a metalhead. |

Machine Head Unto The Locust |
Mastodon Leviathan |
Mastodon Blood Mountain |
Mastodon Crack the Skye |
An absolute masterpiece. Call me crazy, but I personally think this is one of the best metal albums ever released. I really do. Why? Because it puts you right there, you really feel like you are experiencing everything that is going on in the album. It is mind-blowingly, earth-shatteringly epic in ways that would make Opeth bow to their knees. Sometimes you feel likeyou are being chased by a wrathful god, sometimes you feel like you're in the middle of the storm of the century, sometimes you feel like you're traveling through a wormhole or space, sometimes it feels like a sorceror is conjuring a massive spell, sometimes it feels like the entire Russian Army is marching after you...Oh, what the hell! Just buy the fuckin' thing already! |
Megadeth Rust in Peace |
Megadeth's magnum opus. Dave's chemistry with Mary Friedman is just mindblowing. I doubt the band will ever be able to top this. |

A masterpiece in every sense of the word. This, along with "Still Life", is widely considered by the people on this site (myself included) to be one of the best albums in the history of music. It's not difficult to see why. |

This is Testaments' best album. Period. Alex Skolnick's guitar solos are absolutely incredible. Eric Peterson's riffs are kick-ass, and Chuck Billy's vocals are probably the best the genre have ever seen. It's a shame these guys are not part of the Big Four. |
Testament Brotherhood of the Snake |
Tool Ænima |
