I've always had mixed feelings about this band (and newer Sectioned stuff as well). I like the idea of super heavy hardcore/mathcore like this, but the production is just so thick and muddy that I can rarely tell what the guitars are actually doing unless they're doing the screechy, high-pitched parts. Could just be my ears though! If you like Frontierer, I would maybe recommend Weston Super Maim and maybe Owdwyr, although the latter is not quite the same style.
can only agree with your comment tbh. their production completely kills their music, and its really not like they dont have good ideas! some of their material off the first album and third album is fire, but besides southern hemorrhage i cant remember any of their songs lol
I would say on Unloved specifically the production makes the riffs harder to discern, but overall I just love this style of mathcore so much that I don't mind if it all kind of sounds the same. Weston Super Maim slaps, they are kind of doing this style but more technical. I checked out Owdwyr and they're cool, but they're more death metal than mathcore.
