08.31.06 | Rap is generally faster paced and melodic. Take for example that their are a lot of female hip-hop artists. How many of them could you actually call rappers? Very few. Rap also seem to involve less actual singing. In hip-hop somtimes the verse will be kind of like wrap, but the chorus will be a series of powerful elonged notes. While rap is generally all rap. For me saying hip-hop and rap are the same thing is like saying that "Unfaithful" is a rap song. Which it's not, atleast IMO. The two genres are similar, no doubt, but not the same. I'm not sure how much of that makes sense. Anyways, i could be wrong that's just my take on the issue. |

08.31.06 | yeah i guess old school stuff like slick rick or afrika bambatta is "rap" while the new pussycat dolls single is in a more "hip hop" region |

08.31.06 | Hiphop is more of a culture than rap. Rap is mostly just a vocal style. Hiphop music is typically an embodiment of it's culture. I can't spell today. |

Yeah, I was bored, so I started to talk out of my arse a little bit. The point I was trying to get a across was similar to yours, actually. Unfortunately I don't word things well and use lots of stupid examples. My bad. |
