Lukes List (vs Maces)
Okay So this is my fav albums of 90s. Sorry but metal/post hardcore is rlargely absent. |
1 | | My Bloody Valentine Loveless
So unique, so catchy, so diverse. An album that could never be replicated.
Timeless. |
2 | | Radiohead OK Computer
One of the landmark albums of the 90s. Great lyrics, music and vibe. Amazing. |
3 | | Pavement Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
The ultimate 'indie' album. More polished than Slanted, and has arguably the
best finishing song ever. |
4 | | Weezer The Blue Album
Geek Rock. A great album full of funny lyrics, power chord bliss and hard rocking
fun. |
5 | | Elliott Smith Either/Or
My favourite acoustic album. So consistent but does require a certain mood as
this is not exactly music to dance too. |
6 | | The Dismemberment Plan Emergency & I
Another very unique album. Math Rock combined with dance beats makes for a
great listen. |
7 | | Radiohead The Bends
Their sophomore album, is their best example of great hard rock with elements
of britpop. |
8 | | Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane over the sea
Great imagery, Great guitar and also the best folk albums of the 90s. |
9 | | Pavement Slanted and Enchanted
Their debut is messy, random and crazy, but thats whats makes this album so
great. Lacks the polish of their sophomore effort, but many prefer 'Slanted's'
rawness. |
10 | | Built to Spill There's Nothing Wrong with Love
Just a great collection of indie rock songs, undeniably catchy. |
11 | | Weezer Pinkerton
So now this is thought to be the landmark emo album of the 90s. Pity Rivers,
thought it was a pile of crap and spent the rest of his career sounding as
contrasting to this as humanly possible. |
12 | | Slint Spiderland
This album has grown on me so much. It requires patience but is very
rewarding once accustomed to their sound. |
13 | | The Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
This album is basically 'Nevermind' meets 'Loveless' and topped off with Corgans
whiny but mostly withstandable vocals. Great consistant album. |
