"The new single continues the musical direction of recent Wilson release To The Bone"
well fucc lmao
| |
This dude's off the fucking deep end. That fucking bridge
| |
His solo albums have all bored the shit out of me. Honestly, though, Fear of a Blank Planet is the only PT album I can listen to from start to finish, so maybe his style just isn't for me. I'll still check this out, though.
| |
Stunning prouction, great atmosphere, lackluster composition
| |
I've been more into electronic music these days. This one fits my mood.
| |
Not my cup of tea tbh, even if it doesn't sound that bad (it has some good dark vibes here and there) I don't like this kinda "into the face" lyrics and the poppy vibe ruins it for me. Im wanna listen to the whole thing anyways.
| |
Not sure about this, lyrics are awkward as fuck though
| |
Absolute drivel
| |
This is going to be boring again, isn't it?
| |
Steven Wilson goes techno
| |
could have sworn he said he was going in another direction, doesn't seem so, though. I still think his debut solo album Insurgentes is his best. I also like some stuff from Grace for Drowning.
| |
Insurgentes is amazing, but I think HCE is his best solo release.
| |
he has moved very far from his roots
| |
tbh i miss his guitar driven stuff like deadwing and FOABP
| |
wtf elton john is one of the guys talking in the song
| |
vegetarians make the worst music
| |
PT always had electronic music in it, though, really for quite a while. Look at albums like Voyage 34
| |
It's the sanctimonious bullshit that makes this so terrible
| |
80s worship
| |
I actually like Steven Wilson experimenting outside of prog rock, even if only a few songs off of To the Bone really grabbed me.
Grace, Raven and HCE were all good to great records. Will need to listen a few more times but I'm glad he's trying different styles. Will definitely check out the new album.
| |
As much as I've loved the guy over the years, not much of Wilson's newer material has captivated me since Hand Cannot Erase and this seems to unfortunately be no exception. The track's not bad but it's not one I see coming back to by choice. Though I will say that it's kinda impressive that he can make such a dated concept for a song sound at least somewhat modern and nostalgic at the same time.
| |
Liked this
| |
Naw this is pretty good. Ya'll are just afraid or something.
| |
Love it
| |
Absolutely fucking love it
| |
Rules hard
Just hope it's an eclectic record
| |
i have to say i don't even dislike his music half as much as I used to (always liked no-man and a couple of PT albums)
this is fine, its just not very interesting
| |
Lyrics are written for you sin pal
| |
uhh is the youtube link broken for anyone else?
| |
Here's Elton John to read a list of 'things people buy' like he doesn't live in a fuck-off mansion
Pre-order the album here:
| |
Yep, I’ve streamed it from i-tunes like a cunt
| |
heres a link that works if anyone wants it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_H0NO-Cyew
| |
Regarding Elton. It’s clearly a massive piss take. Fucking quality.
| |
Gravy For Dousing is pretty good but HCE is still his best. This is... alright.
| |
tune was a lot more interesting than i was expecting tbh
| |
Did he make any gainz since the last album
| |
The irony of country fans hating on Steven Wilson burns strong
| |
very predictablr
| |
Horrible track.
| |
Elton is awful, never liked his music, almost as bad as Phil Collins, maybe worse
| |
Likewise. Elton is an absolute pig of a bloke. Fucking massive diva who hasn’t got the first fucking clue.
| |
God, the music is really nice but his "old man yells at cloud" lyrics are so fucking dumb.
Also, bitching about box sets in your lyrics while selling a $100 limited edition box set of your album is just...come on dude. https://store.thefuturebites.com/cart/product.php?id=61825
| |
inb4 someone defends the box set as iRoNiC cOmMeNtArY
| |
You guys seem to forget albums like Up the Downstair and Voyage 34, and even The Sky Moves Sideways.
| |
Link is fixed.
| |
You can’t release a song like this then release a $300 in Absentia deluxe box set at the same time you twat.
Production is fantastic as usual though.
| |
i liked the premise of the track but why the fuck was it 10 minutes without doing much of anything in that time and putting things in the lyrics to present day technology just guarantees that it'll sound really dated in 5 years time
| |
damn and I was just looking for more reasons to not take Steven Wilson seriously too, right on time
| |
This is garbage, haha
| |
rocks
| |
@TheMoonchild Those albums were psychedelic and even "kraut-y" , didn't have this pop sensibility. Not everything electronic is the same. This is new for SW
| |
Really can't get into this guy's solo stuff. Maybe it needs more attention I reckon. Otherwise PT still has a certain place and time on my playlist.
| |
Lol oh no this sucks
| |
what are steven wilson haters even doing with their lifes
I really do not understand lmao
| |
After flushing disco pop out of his system, really looking forward to SW conquering the outlaw country genre and really pissing off his fans.
| |
Having depeche mode with Steven Wilson would have sounded interesting if the track wasn't like 5 minutes too long
| |
I... think I like the song well enough, but agree it doesn’t have quite enough substance to justify going on for nearly 10 minutes. Apparently all the other songs on the album are like less than 5 minutes long.
| |
Apparently the deluxe edition has the 19 min version of the song
| |
Shiiiiit this is the first thing from steven in a while that I am really not looking forward too. And I’ve been such a huge advocate for his solo stuff for a while. Album will probably be decent but still
| |
lyrics are /r/im14andthisisdeep
| |
Prog disco
| |
I love this even if it's a bit bloated
tbh SW has always had awkward lyrics so why are people complaining about this now?
| |
Yeah Wilson’s lyrics have always been the weakest aspect of his music, I remember basically saying how obvious and occasionally cringy To the Bone got in that department. Still masterful instrumentally though, hoping The Future Bites lives up to that standard, but the short track lengths and this song sounding like the synth-pop side of No-Man has me unsure.
| |
Steven Wilson when writing personal lyrics can be generic but also gentle, or even brilliant (I Drive the Hearse is a nice idea to write about, for example). When he tries to talk about social issues, his boomer is showing.
| |
track is honestly hot fucking garbage
| |
I can sing falsetto better than he can. It's time he hired someone to take over vocals for him, his voice is far too unremarkable to carry his compositions.
| |
Agreed Mythodea. I actually like a lot of the lyrics from ‘90s PT and especially the ballads on the 2000s albums like My Ashes and I Drive the Hearse, and some of his solo albums like Raven and HCE.
His voice is ok as long as he doesn’t sing over the metal parts; his thin reedy voice just doesn’t go with it. I like that he keeps evolving in multiple ways but yea the falsetto is a bit much. Not every new experiment works.
| |
"his voice is far too unremarkable to carry his compositions."
this has literally never stopped anyone tbh
| |
Yeah Wilson’s lyrics have always been the weakest aspect of his music [2]
and yea vox on this track arent the best but the track itself is a lot more interesting than a good chunk of his "rock" output
| |
"tbh SW has always had awkward lyrics so why are people complaining about this now?"
Toondude with another big fuckin brain moment. I know you were like, 8, so the last time Wilson dropped a record you were just starting school, but basically I'll catch you up a bit here:
PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS
| |
haha toondude btfo
| |
track rules
| |
It really does.
| |
Rating distribution is going to be interesting for this one.
| |
it's fun!
| |
Can't say I'm feeling this particular track. Definitely doesn't need to be 9 minutes. But I'll remain optimistic.
| |
"Toondude with another big fuckin brain moment. I know you were like, 8, so the last time Wilson dropped a record you were just starting school, but basically I'll catch you up a bit here:
PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS"
lmao okay dude
| |
bro i like wilton but its true af and people did indeed rightfully complain
| |
haha ok
| |
>rightfully
>complain
choose one when it comes to music
| |
diggin the "lmao ok dude" as if I'm the goober here
| |
"choose one when it comes to music"
cringe
| |

https://youtu.be/Hu8ffw5LtzQ
| |
oh im sorry i must have missed the well thought out argument you provided that deserved more than a cringe
| |
ok aiwaz 2.0
| |
I'm not 100% sure what you mean Flugmorh. That one has no right to complain when it comes to others' artistic expression?
| |
the words "rightfully complain" rub me very much the wrong way. like complaining about a service that wasn't delivered or a deadline that wasn't met.
| |
changed my mind, this is kind of bad
| |
@Flugmorph Yeah, I think I sympathize with your frustration
@Tunaboy, It's mediocre, and that hurts the most
| |
I'm more concerned with the fact that he's releasing limited edition future bites-themed toilet paper.
| |
Album gonna have a 3.4 average, called it
| |
3.3
| |
This probably gonna be the first SW album I'll dislike.
| |
Dislike or be indifferent to?
| |
lol yay? is he sampling disco, seriously??? fvck. i dig the techno parts a tad, but christ almighty that bridge is laughable
| |
BUY FOR ENGLAND
BUY IT ALL
SELL IT ON THEN BUY IT BACK
BUY THE SHIT YOU NEVER KNEW YOU LACKED
| |
so d33p
| |
ok snark factory
| |
Gave this another spin and now I think it's pretty great.
| |
He's one of my favorite artists of all time, but this feels like he's sucking his own dick
| |
I'm enjoying the new tracks quite a lot ngl
| |
That's a fair assessment tbh
| |
Just when I thought 2020 couldnt get any worse
| |
It's gonna drop in 2021 tho
| |
I updated the article to include the new release date. Hopefully the album won't be delayed again, since coronavirus will still be around in January.
| |
King Ghost and Eminent Sleaze are both great songs. I can see myself digging them in the future.
| |
Hopefully permanent delay
| |
Don't be sour
| |
These new songs aren't doing a lot for me, but trying to keep an open mind. There are definitely elements I like about them. King Ghost is my favorite of the 3.
| |
Digging 3 out of 4 songs from the new album, so far. Obv none of these sound exceptionally flawless, but they are fun for what they are. Although, i'd cut out a good 2 minutes from the album version of 'Personal Shopper'.
| |
The new single "12 Things I Forgot" is the best one yet, sounds like classic Blackfield.
| |
It’s a bit iffy if not borderline shit. Album is a potential stinker. I do like Kings Ghost though.
| |
I dig 3 out of the 4 songs as well, and I kinda like the other one.
| |
