Review Summary: >Progressive house needed here
Well, it seems as though EDM is really at the peak of it's prime, with upcoming and brand new EDM artists making their way up to the top, it was nice to see that with an absence of any deadmau5 material in 2011, or ANY progressive house material for that matter, he is back on top with his latest 6th studio album and 4th mainstream studio album, >Album Title Goes Here<.
But >Album Title Goes Here< isn't really all what is expected to be from deadmau5 listeners. This album is made up of tracks produced from 2009 - 2012, that remained unreleased, until now. So really, there is no actual "new" deadmau5 material. Saying that, no material that is familiar to many of his productions at all. All of these tracks(except maybe 2 or 3) were unreleased, but have been heard by probably every deadmau5 fan, because they have all been leaked onto the internet before and many assumed, "fake", because people didn't think that they sounded like his usual progressive house sound at all. All this album really is now, is a bunch of unreleased(now released) tracks, that have been leaked onto the internet a thousand times before, that COMPLETELY depart from his usual progressive house sound. Most have heard them before and not too fond of them either.
But what do these tracks really sound like? This isn't the first time, he has produced any electro stuff, in fact, his debut album, "Get Scraped" was an electro album. But these songs really have no appealing content whatsoever and completely turn away from what deadmau5 listeners usually expect, which would be progressive house. Probably, the only progressive tracks on here are October and Closer, which sounds like the track, "Slip", from random album title. But yes, this IS mainly an electro album, songs that give an example of this would be songs like "Maths", "Pro Griefers" and "Channel 42". Not to mention, some of the songs on this album are VERY poorly placed, like "Fn Pig" and Pro Griefers and to be honest, don't even fit on the album.
In a conclusion, I think that this album might have done better as a compilation album than a legit studio album, something like, "deadmau5:Unreleased Tracks(2009 - 2012)", but as a studio album, this entirely lacks creativity or any of his usual sound for that matter. Hey, maybe these tracks were better left unreleased.
