  • DoofDoof Big Ange... just not sure now. Players dont seem convinced to me.
    May 6 12:29 PM
  • DoofDoof up the Spurs!
    May 5 06:30 PM
  • DoofDoof It harks back to Ten and Yield in a good way I think, little bit of Backspacer too which was half a good album and half dross but still more engaging than most of the other recent PJ albums. Took me about six full listens but it is no longer homework/a nostalgia listen - a solid rock album and there are few about.
    April 23 03:07 PM
  • DoofDoof I might check the new one...for now genuinely enjoying the new Pearl Jam, found myself listening to it for fun, whatever next. Playing it to death I am.
    April 23 11:19 AM
  • DoofDoof instantly one of their best...{intake of breath}huuuuuuuuuuuughhghhhhh
    April 22 02:21 PM
  • theBoneyKing As expected! :D
    April 15 05:32 PM
  • theBoneyKing Check out my latest reviewed album, John Moreland is a real-deal truth-speaker!
    April 14 12:16 PM
  • Futures your music stories are so great. you gotta make a list just reminiscing and telling stories about when you were listening to certain albums. but yeah stone cold classic wish i could wipe t/t and iron man from their cultural impact and listen for the first time. hand of doom might be my fav sabbath song.
    April 9 07:48 PM
  • Futures hell yeah, such a great album. what's your fav sabbath or does it switch up? mine is sabbath bloody sabbath atm.
    April 9 07:30 PM
  • Futures radiohead side projects have never really done it for me but now you've convinced me to give it a shot. i've been mainly jamming black sabbath for the first time, through sabotage now. hell of an experience. better late than never!
    April 9 07:15 PM
  • Futures haha compliment of course. what have you been jamming lately man?
    April 9 06:59 PM
  • Futures zak brother you look exactly like what i imagined in my head and that makes me happy lol
    April 9 06:07 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr Definitely. I will get around to them all soon and report back. Cheers again mate.
    April 5 11:32 AM
  • BitterJalapenoJr Alright mate? Made a start on those alt recs you gave me a few months back. Started with Sunhouse - Crazy on the Weekend. ****ing amazing on the first listen. One of those albums that genuinely affects you if you get me?
    April 5 09:31 AM
  • Deez well 3 and a half but still , absolutely ridiculous, came back with 75 quid hahah You only live once and all that ol bean x
    March 20 07:21 PM
  • Deez Was absolutely wild as usual mate, bit of a blur tbh. Saw some old mates, Picked up every disease known to man and spent 14 grand in 3 months hahha, can guess I had a ball. Came back 3 weeks ago back to work and to scraping some coins to do it all over again in November : )
    March 20 06:40 PM
  • Colton what were the 90s like
    March 18 11:08 PM
  • DoofDoof haha, yeah that covers 90% of it - there might be one good song on that album, need to double check, but the rest is the most forced and affected sounding music I have encountered in ages.
    March 1 05:49 PM
  • DoofDoof I liked the other recent one but that previous one in Zak speak = twaddle
    February 28 07:51 AM
  • Futures hell yeah man. ****ing top tier oasis track. best b-side band ever? feels like a precursor to high flying birds. gotta check the new one bet it rips.
    February 28 04:13 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell interesting interesting - quite similar to my exp tbh, though i was late to the game with the debut. nothing else i've heard comes close to that one's magic, but i'm not in a hurry to revisit it either. asking partially bc the new single was the closest i've come in a hot minute to going full zak and decrying vapid pish across the board and i wondered if your experience had been the same
    February 23 11:12 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell what are your thoughts on Alcest
    February 23 08:51 PM
  • bighubbabuddha exploded buttcheeks
    February 18 03:52 PM
  • DoofDoof I had never listened to full Shuttleworth albums before, some classics on there
    February 1 03:33 PM
  • DoofDoof Every year I find a new Tindersticks song to obsess over - last year was "(you take) this heart of mine" from Simple Pleasures, absolute beauty
    February 1 12:52 PM
  • DoofDoof I never stop listening to some Tindersticks really, as close to a constant as there is, they are right up there, as deep a discography as you can get - all time top five band.
    February 1 12:50 PM
  • DoofDoof Haha, yeah one avalanche hits?who?s still alive??another avalanche hits :D
    January 28 09:25 PM
  • DoofDoof Society of the Snow was bloody amazing, just watched it this weekend, seems underrated everywhere
    January 28 09:04 PM
  • Muzz79 Good man
    January 28 07:26 AM
  • DoofDoof Can't believe Shaun Ryder managed to release a new album - could have been worse tbh. 'In the Ground' has something about it.
    January 20 09:01 AM
  • DoofDoof it goes high priority then - Open Up Your Door came up on shuffle yesterday and near brought a tear to the eye, classic
    January 11 01:59 PM
  • DoofDoof Is that one Richard Hawleys best? 5 is a strong rating
    January 11 01:33 PM
  • theBoneyKing Dropped my 2023 list. Its only the good stuff ;-D
    January 7 11:34 AM
  • mryrtmrnfoxxxy what'd you think of feedtime?
    December 26 03:16 PM
  • Tunaboy45 Televised Mind, Lucid Dream, No, Sunny (my favourite), all class. Been a poor run for the boro lately but got a nice win today, cheers! good day for you too
    December 23 05:36 PM
  • Tunaboy45 very well thanks Zak! how are you getting on? good choice for the Hero's Death 4.5 there, big fan of that album.
    December 10 08:41 PM
  • DoofDoof 2023 just got better...just realised Evil Blizzard dropped a new one last month!
    December 8 09:34 AM
  • DoofDoof If the King Creosote was all as good as the best four songs then prob AOTY - Ides is the song grower of the year for me, that is outstanding. The second tune is almost up there too, that chorus hits hard for me with my domestic life of a girl household lol
    December 6 03:25 PM
  • DoofDoof It has a couple of moments I am not so into but yeah, overall one of my most played this year and pretty much as incredible as anything else he has done
    December 6 10:11 AM
  • DoofDoof I think so, will put up my end of year 'most listened' list in a few weeks time ;)
    December 4 08:34 PM
  • DoofDoof Put up the most annoying review of the year for the Harp album - yeah, did give Pete's new one a go, some of it sounded incredible first go.
    December 2 08:34 AM
  • DoofDoof The solo album from the Midlake singer is a late 2023 winner, apparently got divorced and listened to The Cures Faith album for three years and bingo, reverby yet ye olde misery tinged meisterwerk
    December 1 06:05 PM
  • DoofDoof I will revisit that chemical brothers again, a 3 is probably too harsh?especially when I gave the new Chase and Status a 4! The funny one you should try in the new The Streets album, I am trying to work out if it is actually as bad as it initially comes across or if there is some hidden depth there lol. It sounds laughable in places, funny.
    November 16 02:07 PM
  • DoofDoof definitely the usual soppy bollocks, The Bathers at number one and Sufjan at number two.
    November 16 01:31 PM
  • DoofDoof I am not familiar with prog stuff like that so I had no idea if it was meant to be (wholly or partly) a piss take. Three hours was never going to happen but I thought I would take a sample.
    November 16 01:23 PM
  • DoofDoof I got two songs into Gandalf's...bloody hell lol, probably very good at what it does and i am glad people are making this stuff for people who like it, but I am struggling to imagine something less for me
    November 16 11:59 AM
  • DoofDoof I used to love those books where you make the choices, think my mate still has some
    November 15 05:38 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, probably a 5 while I was still painting citadel miniatures...now that description and a three hour runtime, anything above a 1 would be classed a win :D
    November 15 11:29 AM
  • DoofDoof Gandalf's Fist meet...Frodo's Ring?
    November 14 08:52 PM
  • Dewinged Given the state of Lords of the Fallen right now (bugs, crashes, frame rate drops), I would say Lies of P is the safest bet! LoP is really polished, the atmosphere is great, amazing weapon system, classy soundtrack, engaging story. Lords of the Fallen is brutal, raw, gritty. Enemy density is ridiculous and everything hits really hard, the lamp system and world phasing stuff is interesting though.
    November 2 12:06 AM
  • DoofDoof I am going to finish the deep dive list next week and then it is revisiting all the 2023 stuff so I will get back to PJ H and see if I can bump it up - I did give it a fair few goes but it could catch me differently now.
    November 1 12:32 PM
  • DoofDoof half way I was hovering over the 1.0 rating but then I actually started enjoying it too much, believe me I love nothing more than dismissing stuff but when I force myself to finish every album I ever start (near enough)...you find this happens
    November 1 11:33 AM
  • DoofDoof post rock innit, I thought it got rather good half way through!
    November 1 11:25 AM
  • Titan You know our future is ****ed when this has been out for a week, doesn?t have a review, with only 34 ratings
    October 27 11:02 PM
  • Titan all day brother....get em while we still can....and gotta get you to bump up that rating for Exile
    October 27 08:37 PM
  • mryrtmrnfoxxxy cool that's a cover album but it's just as good as the rest of em. im doing okay. spending most of my time listening to old noisy rock bands. haven't been this into music since i was a teenager. you ever jam dino jr anymore?
    October 26 01:38 PM
  • mryrtmrnfoxxxy hey buddy have you ever listened to feedtime? punk blues from oz. Suction is my fav of the first 4 but they're all great. haven't heard the last 2 yet. hope you're doing good
    October 26 12:38 PM
  • DoofDoof It is close to miraculous - I will give it a few more goes
    October 21 06:40 PM
  • DoofDoof you should review it though, need a new zak review and that has to be the obvious choice for 2023 discounting the Sleaford Mods album as you have reviewed them before ;)
    October 21 02:48 PM
  • DoofDoof I would definitely say you cant have Exile at a 2.5 and the new one at a 4.5! I dont like qualified - they are 80 years old - reasoning, it is genuinely a good album whatever their ages but I wont add a .5 to the score because their bus free passes are starting to fray around the edges.
    October 21 01:52 PM
  • DoofDoof not quite as blown away but it is solid - been getting into their older stuff a lot more, upped Beggars Banquet to a 5, that one is class. Let it Bleed is the one I knew from my youth and thats up to a 4.5, and Exile is getting close to a 4.5 too. If you are rating the new one as high as those I would say that might be a bit of recency talking, new one is a 3-3.5 I would say on first impressions
    October 21 01:46 PM
  • BitterJalapenoJr Brilliant album, a recent discovery for me but a couple of tracks were very familiar. I should have put that on the list. I can imagine it being life changing if you were a certain age at the time it was released. I estimate I am about 8 or 9 years behind you, the life changing albums for me were at the turn of the millenium. I'll be checking out the recs you put on my list. Cheers mate.
    October 20 09:39 AM
  • DoofDoof underrated song that no one seems to like on that album is Living in America
    October 3 04:25 PM
  • DoofDoof maturity suits them yeah, the debut didnt have the impact for me the following two albums have had
    October 3 01:22 PM
  • DoofDoof this is the blurb I put up for that one: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/doofy/album/238991-a-heros-death/and the new one:https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/doofy/album/456966-skinty-fia/
    October 3 01:07 PM
  • DoofDoof yeah, the vocals feel a little sarcastic and poisonous, a conscious step away from how immediate they were on the debut, and that reminds me of Cobain on In Utero sometimes - defeated but also confrontational towards the listener
    October 3 01:04 PM
  • DoofDoof I always think that is their In Utero, the newer one is good too but a little bit more of The Cure mixed in
    October 3 12:47 PM
  • DoofDoof At the height of their popularity the label said "do what you want" they just snorted heroin and released one of the least comprehensible and s***test concept albums ever lol
    September 24 05:21 PM
  • DoofDoof Been listening to The Stranglers non stop the last three days and reading a few interviews - the least genuinely punk of the punk bands in terms of music?maybe the most punk in attitude and behaviour. Cornwell in jail in the UK, they go to France and all end up in jail again. Ultimate pub rock band - finally gave the debut a 5 rating
    September 24 05:20 PM
  • DoofDoof In music news I bumped The Clash debut and Nick Cave - The Boatman... up to 5s...I balanced all that out by also putting Appetite for Destruction up to a 4.5. Here are the 5s in all their 134 entries glory: https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Doofy/r5.0
    September 24 04:09 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah I called this one wrong on the manager - not the only one, Paul Merson said we'd be taken to the cleaners by Arsenal today...but we got a couple of tough breaks and bounced back with style. Maddison is a genius signing for us, marriage made in heaven. Richarlison is a right plonker though.
    September 24 04:07 PM
  • DoofDoof I feel this was your equivalent to when I went to watch Tindersticks at the Barbican and they had arty films playing in the background. There was even an intermission lol :D
    September 22 07:33 AM
  • Trifolium I'm very glad and it's very unsurprising to hear you enjoy this zak! I don't use the word ****ing a lot on here but this is a ****ing good album. These dudes were so in-sync, just lovely stuff.
    September 15 11:26 AM
  • Trifolium Sniped it, nobody could have seen THAT with how fast we were!!! A message is coming your way!
    September 13 07:53 AM
  • DoofDoof My favourite misheard lyric at the moment is this: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=81422
    September 12 09:20 PM
  • DoofDoof Will try it again and could be eating my words?but I have the first two albums on 3.5s so I am probably just a misery when it comes to them ;)
    September 12 09:18 PM
  • DoofDoof The Feel Like I Am Dreaming I kept hearing I Feel Like Orangina - that confused me for a bit
    September 12 08:36 PM
  • DoofDoof Never a massive fan but that new one sounds like literally anyone could have recorded it - Daft Punk or some s***esters
    September 12 08:34 PM
  • DoofDoof Half the James Blake is top notch, listened to it for a second time today, less unadorned balladry and more beats thank ****. Great week for releases - Sparklehorse, the Jonathan Wilson was quality, enjoyed the Matthew Halsall, the Handsome Family (goth country) was a return to form, quite liked the Roisin Murphy this time too.
    September 11 06:09 PM
  • anat Didn?t even know about it, cheers dad
    September 1 02:53 PM
  • bighubbabuddha Get whacked by giant ballz
    September 1 11:24 AM
  • chemicalmarriage "Absolute shower of s***e"This is ****ing hilarious
    August 30 04:02 AM
  • DoofDoof Great rec, have you given the Jonny Nash album a go from this year - Point of Entry? Sorry if I recommended it before, I lose track, I know Boney loved it
    August 21 01:43 PM
  • DoofDoof We are losing the older users mate, very sad about Diva
    August 16 08:14 AM
  • DoofDoof I added it to the DB of course ;D The Limpid is a Boney ambient rec of all things, its class
    August 1 09:59 PM
  • DoofDoof I did head to the Robert Miles after...that techno style is tougher to take in across that long a set. After three track I thought I would prefer it, but after seven I wasnt as sure. I ordered a CD copy for two quid off amazon, see what state that arrives in, but I agree it is a 90s classic
    August 1 04:24 PM
  • DoofDoof appreciate the secret recommendation - just finishing the David Semen mix, no idea he went straight from goalkeeping to this
    August 1 01:19 PM
  • Sowing Thank you for the rec! It's been kind of a slow week musically other than that Clientele album, so I'll definitely check it out soon!
    July 30 01:51 PM
  • Tunaboy45 I'll go chronologically in that case, cheers! Looking forward to it. Hope you're doing alright mate.
    July 24 07:48 PM
  • Tunaboy45 Ey up, I was going to start reading Culture soon (working my way through Crow Road now). Is Consider Phlebas a good starting point?
    July 23 07:44 AM
  • DoofDoof The 'not good' Witch?
    July 20 09:32 AM
  • DoofDoof Its a minefield but luckily not a lot to do with me in my line of work, the wife teaching is a whole other thing though - loads of identity stuff with your 16 year old kids in schools.
    July 11 01:11 PM
  • DoofDoof I can't think of anything I'd want to avoid more than any sort of 'trans debate' here lol, if people can change their name by deed poll then I am totally happy 'referring' to Arthur as Martha if that is how they want it. Whether fundamentally I see it that clearly is another matter, I probably see it as 'Martha used to be Arthur' but whatever, more a politeness thing at this stage :/
    July 11 01:03 PM
  • MyMentality Haha bloody hell mate xD bet it cost you a fortune! £27.50 for 4 Cans of Budweiser, they're having a laugh
    July 10 06:54 PM
  • MyMentality Ahoy there! Managed to catch Blur at Wembley last night, and I must say! Under The Westway hit those feels for sure. Did you go in the end? And what was your highlight?
    July 10 01:35 PM
  • DoofDoof The Grian Chatten solo is solid, Fairlies sounds like Tindersticks near enough - and I like his more subdued singing as much as the usual intense delivery
    July 1 09:00 AM
  • DoofDoof Housefly and Driving Through Heaven are absolute quality too
    June 23 01:00 PM
  • DoofDoof The new Cory Hanson album is a beast...shame it is called Western Cum but so be it lol
    June 23 11:05 AM
  • bighubbabuddha balls
    June 18 10:13 AM
  • Pheromone we are in London tonight for veils if ur around
    June 9 01:18 PM
  • Jethro42 The Yearning is awesome, zak. Made of different paces, reminds me of Supertramp and A.C.T. and it's a good thing.
    June 2 09:25 PM
  • MyMentality Saw Blur last night and they were sublime! Wasn't expecting to come out with so many bruises though. Crowd surfed during This Is a Low and was rescued by Smoggy, top bloke! Set was great too, lots of MLIR tunes, Jubilee was played too which was a nice surprise! You're in for a treat.
    May 27 10:16 PM
  • MyMentality Nah, seeing them on Friday but the setlist slipped onto my Facebook feed... And it's banging!
    May 22 10:07 AM
  • DoofDoof Could America have survived Nic Cage being cast as Superman?
    May 21 07:10 PM
  • DoofDoof Spurs being widely acknowledged as a Jewish club is the only reason I dont think we will be sold to an arab consortium right now, club is being run like we have amateurs in charge - we are in the Deloitte top 10, very funny stuff, not a sniff of a winning mentality. Truly an anomaly, hard to watch this season
    May 21 05:44 PM
  • DoofDoof Endless Summer was one of the first twenty ambient type albums I ever listened to so I have probably always overrated it a bit but a big album for me back around 2006 sort of time.
    May 21 05:25 PM
  • DoofDoof That new Fennesz is great, didnt know it had been released
    May 21 08:20 AM
  • MyMentality Eyy! All I can say is that if Wembley has the same set as the warm-up shows, you'll be very happy!
    May 19 08:51 PM
  • Jethro42 Reminder to voting for Prog epic rd 1. Tomorrow is the last day.
    May 16 05:32 PM
  • Pheromone Hey Zak. I'm all good (and slightly embarrassed about the list though up it remains) I appreciate you getting in touch. Sobriety has been something I've strived for for a while considering just how ****ing bad my drinking when I drink is but keep failing - who knows maybe that list will be the sticking point for it. I'm still up for a catch up coke zero at the Beehive whenever you are bb. I'll even bring my gear.
    May 16 03:02 PM
  • Jethro42 zak, I feel you've chosen your candidate on the rush. If you want, you can take time to choose another one. What I'm saying is that you always have time to change your mind. Cheers.
    May 8 04:28 PM
  • Jethro42 Hi zak, we're right into the prog preliminaries. Check out my last list, if you will.
    May 6 10:10 PM
  • MyMentality Ah, that's amazing mate! Was gutted when the Wembley dates were announced because I'm away then. So as soon as the warm up shows popped up on my feed, I was straight on it haha! Buzzing! Hoping they play Oily Water because it's one of, if not, my favourite Blur song. Not sure the chances of it happening though, but one can dream!
    April 29 06:39 AM
  • MyMentality I can't wait! General sale is on Friday though, they're playing a few dates if you wanted to catch them. Can't believe I bet the scalpers in the pre-sale lol
    April 26 10:01 AM
  • MyMentality Hey Zak! Just managed to snab one ticket for Blur at Wolverhampton Civic. Stoked is an understatement! Just thought I'd message on the off chance you might be going too. My first ever Blur show and in a relatively small venue (compared to Wembley at least lol)
    April 26 09:30 AM
  • theBoneyKing They warrant the eternal Play It Loud
    April 8 12:22 PM
  • theBoneyKing Wednesday is the best band right now and you should listen to them!
    April 8 12:17 PM
  • Pheromone zak song of the day sex sex sex
    April 3 11:59 AM
  • People really trying to bury this Mods album but honestly it is my favourite since Divide and Exit
    March 17 07:32 AM
  • Pheromone hello zak u sexy sod - i no longer (thank ****) work at the smacke. enjoy yourself though, name drop me to the polish man there and you might get yourself a free drink or a smack. place is ****ed. i work in a law firm now and get paid exactly the same lol
    March 16 05:20 PM
  • DoofDoof Solid Spurs prediction though it took a penalty save to maintain that scoreline ;) Was an entertaining game...still a s*** season of course
    March 12 09:42 AM
  • DoofDoof Some absolute classics on the new mods album - Don gets me every time
    March 11 08:11 AM
  • DoofDoof Watching them this weekend vs the mighty Forest lol - just need to tear it all down and start again, theres nothing to Spurs right now, s***
    March 9 07:41 PM
  • Pheromone have you checked dogsbody
    March 5 05:35 PM
  • DoofDoof The new Shame took a few goes but is their best, prefer it to the Murder Capital now, getting a bit underrated everywhere
    March 1 12:50 PM
  • DoofDoof This is espionage and youre the self saboteur!
    February 22 10:15 AM
  • Pheromone :((( ****in legend
    February 21 08:42 AM
  • Pheromone i knew you used to email diva - have you heard from him lately?
    February 20 02:04 PM
  • DoofDoof New YLT is something else, theyve still got it
    February 11 08:16 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQGPije7caU
    January 31 01:32 AM
  • DoofDoof https://worldofhotspur.com/the-great-con-of-tottenham-hotspur/ This article sums it up, we are one of the most successful clubs in world football....off the pitch. By meticulous design.
    January 20 12:26 PM
  • DoofDoof That Deloitte league for club football - Spurs the ninth richest club in the world. Look at the rest of the top 12...they all have had periods of winning trophies. Spurs the anomaly, run by absolute crooks, our revenue is about to overtake Chelsea and they still run to a zero net spend model on player purchases. Absolute ****s, charge highest seat prices in the league, Spurs is effectively a scam ;)
    January 20 12:17 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell zak zak jam the Millennium - Begin! it is all the best bits of Sgt Pep and Pet Sounds in one package it is delightful
    January 19 07:39 PM
  • DoofDoof I cant even get angry watching Spurs this season - sweet cotton wool apathy, thanks Enic, thanks Levy
    January 15 05:30 PM
  • DoofDoof First go half of it sounded decent - not massively into his style but revisited In it for the Money and a few of those songs are quality
    January 13 06:54 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, since I joined here I have listened to 10,000 more albums! I would say the most mental bit of that profile is the 'Year Ranking' list. Saying that I probably only spend a couple of hours a week making changes to stuff on there, not too bad for a hobby...maybe. Yorkston can usually be relied on, anat recommended him to me a while back, a lot of his stuff I still need to get to. 'Concentrated Listen' means it will definitely get 5 proper listens through this week, Iggy Pop was last week.
    January 13 05:16 PM
  • DoofDoof I do rate that Elbow album, probably due a revisit - the Michael Head sort of did similar for me last year, did love that one

  • DoofDoof Happy new year! Amazed you still had the local record shop - I guess there is a Beggars Banquet in Kingston but dunno where another one is round here for about a 30 mile radius. Pubs biting the dust is the worst, you have a second choice local? It is a twelve minute walk to my closest local?and it isnt even a great boozer. This is England, 2023 edition
    January 8 09:01 AM
  • Pheromone ****in lmao
    December 16 07:03 PM
  • Pheromone me you anat doof gig where we going who we seeing
    December 16 05:09 PM
  • DoofDoof Just 5?d it - if it had come out the two previous years it would have been my album of the year for either quite easily?just a lot of good stuff came out in 2022. As close to a new Sunhouse as we are going to get, Freedom, American Kid and Fluke are unbelievable.
    December 15 12:37 PM
  • DoofDoof The last few days that Michael Head album has gone up another level for me, saw Mojo gave it AOTY and a few other of the 'older musos' mags put it top 10. It isnt Sunhouse but its something similar, maybe Bill Ryder-Jones worked some magic on it too, he was heavily involved in the recording
    December 15 10:21 AM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, somewhere between Fat of the Land and ?Setting Sun?. Got in the habit of choosing one album a week that gets a daily airing and Leftfield got this week, decent album. 2022 the year every old band came out the woodwork to release something - and most of them doing a good job. Will put up a year end list soon ;)

    December 3 05:07 PM
  • Log S. surprisingly they only did I think 2 or 3 off the new one - it was their first time in America for years (possibly decades?) so they kinda catered to that
    December 3 05:07 PM
  • Log S. even got to see them live a few weeks ago, miraculously, when they toured US
    December 2 06:02 PM
  • Log S. i love it
    December 2 03:58 AM

    November 30 10:53 AM
  • DoofDoof Who would you put your money on? Methodical Spain?
    November 29 07:54 AM
  • DoofDoof That Cameroon equalising goal today was ugly as hell but also a bit of a classic
    November 28 09:38 PM
  • beefshoes A T20 league will begin its first season in spring here in the states, and since the next world cup will have some fixtures here, really hoping that it helps raise the profile of the sport a bit, even if it never really grows beyond being niche. How popular is it in England these days? More or less than rugby?
    November 11 07:11 PM
  • beefshoes The T20 world cup has made me a cricket fan for life. hahaStill kinda new to it all, so I'm really excited to follow a first test. Watched several ODIs over the summer, and absolutely fell in love with it as I was learning the rules.
    November 11 04:52 AM
  • Pheromone Hahaha that's a quality tongue twister. I'll recognise you if you come down, only £6.10 for a Peroni (christ the world is expensive now)
    November 9 01:36 PM
  • Pheromone I am well enough mate. Working at a pub in Old Leigh (Ye Olde Smack) if you ever fancy coming down for a pint and wanna get away from the working class of the Beehive. Been ****ing broke and had no laptop but just replaced that yesterday so back on sput. Music listening has taken a back seat to full time work whic has nothing to do with my degree. Good fun. All this to say, I'm alright! How are you mate.
    November 9 10:52 AM
  • fogza Zak you need to rec on song of the day, it's best of British and I don't think it would be legit without a Zak rec
    November 4 07:30 AM
  • DoofDoof Only takeaway pizza, one of those vans that parks up with the mobile oven - sounds dodgy as **** now I describe it like that lol
    October 31 05:49 PM
  • DoofDoof Me and the wife both had food poisoning Wednesday night - missed the match :(
    October 30 04:12 PM
  • DoofDoof I am out of recs then?try the new Archers of Loaf for the masochism, makes this years Goo Goo Dolls sound like Pantera by comparison, proper comeback turd
    October 22 10:57 AM
  • DoofDoof Plus they are from Manchester so they have an authentic right to be angry
    October 22 10:17 AM
  • DoofDoof Need the guitars and beats
    October 21 10:56 AM
  • DoofDoof The Monkeys make no sense to me in their new guise, I dont really connect enough with Alex Turners singing to have them a vocal focused band :/
    October 21 10:55 AM
  • DoofDoof New Paddy Hanna is a bit special
    October 21 07:13 AM
  • DoofDoof Think Conte has told the players to rest in the big away fixtures this season
    October 20 11:38 AM
  • DoofDoof We never win at OT, always lucky against us at their place ;)
    October 18 07:50 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah it is a bit dry, not as much as the Dream River one he did - the band jam a bit and all that, I think it is one of his best after about six listens. Got tickets for the Sporting game next Wednesday now, parents can babysit, going to be a big game that one - it is result or bust for Sporting
    October 18 06:30 PM
  • DoofDoof Nice one, the wife and myself got offered tickets to buy from a season ticket holder her dad knows but busy tonight and cant fix childcare, only ever been to the new stadium once, bit gutted
    October 15 01:27 PM
  • DoofDoof New Callahan is a stunner, Naked Souls is one of his best ever
    October 15 07:43 AM
  • DoofDoof With a toddler in the house this could be the 'wife friendly' album required
    October 12 06:38 PM
  • DoofDoof Paolo Nutini? ?
    October 12 06:52 AM
  • DoofDoof Ovlov are a solid band, three good albums in a row
    October 2 06:47 PM
  • DoofDoof I will keep going with all the Suede albums, Blue Hour there was something there, maybe too much on a first listen.
    September 21 12:19 PM
  • DoofDoof Yeah, more expensive than I expected even with the rep the place has, expecting the four day trip to have cost me over two grand inc spending. Think it will Dublin next year as still never been and we decided against it due to cost before?it will be less expensive than this one ;)
    September 21 12:18 PM
  • DoofDoof Think my favourites are Still Leads, That Boy, Shadow Self and Turn Off
    September 21 07:00 AM
  • DoofDoof Off to Iceland tomorrow with the boys, get to have a four day break from the family routine - we planned to go on this trip before Covid so we?re one day from losing a few grand when everything closed down. Never thought Suede would be the soundtrack lol, new one up to a 4
    September 21 06:53 AM
  • DoofDoof Blue Hour is half good / half too histrionic flouncy - the new one has a bit of magic, easily their best album for me, not a bad song on it
    September 20 08:34 AM
  • DoofDoof Not tried The Blue Hour - did try the one before that and wasnt into it at the time. Gave Dog Man Star another go today and it has its moments but still not fully sold, might just be I prefer this later sound.
    September 19 05:42 PM
  • DoofDoof Will have to go back to their discog again and give the early albums another go...but something about the more punk feel, constant guitar assault and Anderson toning down the Bowie'isms makes this one great - if this was a new band I would love it, not that it doesnt sound like Suede at all. Solid.
    September 19 09:47 AM
  • DoofDoof Definitely his best vocals, he has dropped the gimmick ;)
    September 19 07:22 AM
  • DoofDoof Suede released their least grating album ;) Honestly its pretty good, might even 3.5 it
    September 18 03:42 PM
  • DoofDoof So is the SE the daytime Moon Safari for you? Slapped a 4 on it?also realised I had rated the previous one a 2. Listened to half of that to see if I was wrong but no, much prefer this direction, career saver. Hope they release another one in a similar style.
    September 15 06:48 AM
  • DoofDoof The SE is great, like a lost 90s tape, good chance I prefer this style to their other stuff
    September 14 06:33 AM
  • DoofDoof Only listened to some of the early stuff and liked it but not sure I fully bonded but will check. That Peter Gabriel is solid though, went back to Melt to see if I suddenly liked that a lot more but no, prefer Up a lot
    September 11 12:40 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell next one's ready to go mlove
    September 7 10:57 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell **** you vote lessgo https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200676
    September 7 01:15 PM
  • DoofDoof Stuff like Firestarter and Omen you could hear the crowd sing every word, atmosphere was class
    July 25 06:00 AM
  • DoofDoof No, they just did it short and instrumental with a laser projection of Keith dancing, I was too near the front to really see it but a friend in our group recorded that bit so I saw it later.
    July 25 05:56 AM
  • DoofDoof Went in the pit for the entire set of Prodigy at Brixton last night, was like an oven in the venue, somehow handled it though - going down the gym after dropping the kid at nursery every morning must be paying off. They were immense, Keef missed of course
    July 24 02:14 PM
  • Divaman You too, Zak.
    July 12 10:06 PM
  • DoofDoof Didnt see the message, yeah I was there - Pixies were really good, PJ half the set was incredible and then it would lose momentum a bit with the rest. The weight of the world is still on Eddie?s shoulders lol
    July 9 03:20 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Hey Zak, you heard the new Petrol Girls yet? It's as good as the last Amyl and the Sniffers album.
    June 28 04:05 PM
  • DoofDoof Sister in law gets free tickets for loads of stuff as she works in media, she was able to split her ticket - she had never heard of Pearl Jam, beyond hope, but I jumped at that
    June 28 12:01 PM
  • DoofDoof Got a free ticket to Pearl Jam/Pixies at Hyde Park, good to catch a couple of young upcoming bands ;)
    June 27 07:39 PM
  • Dylan620 Sweet, I'm glad you enjoyed!!
    June 25 04:43 PM
  • MyMentality Hi Zak, sorry just saw your recommendation about Homegrown by Dodgy. I'll definitely have to check that out! Been on a bit of a Blur hype again lately, regained my love for Modern Life, cracking album that! So anything on that particular spectrum, sign me up!
    June 24 11:30 PM
  • Tunaboy45 I don't know what to say, always been a fan of Worry but seeing him in Newc really sold me on him. Don't knock it till you've tried it
    June 24 12:53 PM
  • Dylan620 Hey Zak mate, you should check Phoenix Rising by Rovo, System 7, and Steve Hillage - I've been loving it lately and it seems like something you would dig too. Proggy electronic stuff but not wank, feels connected to Fish Rising somehow
    June 24 01:50 AM
  • anat really enjoying this tourist lp, it bridges the old and new school really nicely it does
    June 12 03:30 PM
  • DoofDoof New Michael Head isnt too shabby either - 2022 is a windfall after covid caused music releases to pretty much flatline for 18 months
    June 7 08:46 AM
  • DoofDoof Tempted to 4.5 it, a couple of less good songs but they have focused in on their best qualities from the debut so fair play
    June 6 04:39 PM
