Terrible. World Star is the worst track of 2013 IMO, and this album is all over the place. The second a minute-or-longer segment of a track catches your attention it's dominated by poorly placed samples, and BS. I've liked his previous work, but this is trash.

Gambino steps up his game and provides plenty of interesting melodies, and instrumentation to back up his improved rapping/ singing skills.

There's absolutely nothing memorable about this poorly-executed mess. The only highlights come in the form of the beats on "Crawl," "Sweatpants," and "3005," but a few nice instrumentals can't hide the fact that Gambino's lyrics aren't clever and this album is nothing more than an awful attempt at being artsy.

I personally love the sampling and the tracks individually, but this album is all over the place. Maybe I was a bit poo-brain when listening to this. Still solid.

take off the rose tinted glasses of shitty high school sex, shitty high school parties, and shitty high school weed. this album has a few high points but is pretty subpar and Gambino leans on dick jokes and shock humor way more than his actual musicianship and talent which is a bit sad to see.

It took me a lot of time to get this album, but I think I finally do. The variety of songs and kind of inconsistency works well considering the concept of the album. Sure it has a lot of flaws, but the different strengths demonstrate by Gambino are enough to keep you coming back to it a lot.

It gathered the same reactions as Some Rap Songs, but it's more experimental and much less lofi. This is just a dude experimenting, and it does not sound like a total mess, which is a huge quality on its own.

"Because the Internet" is much of Childish Gambino and little of Donald Glover. This is the big problem, since the alter ego takes on a work that should have the influences that Glover put in "Awaken My Love". The potential is lost with the passing of the songs, which are tiring and very normal to the standards of a musician with many qualities. The joy is to see that this sonority was in his past, and that now we can expect beautiful fruits from this great man.

I was really enjoying the songs Crawl and Sweatpants before taking a serious listen to this album. Listening to the whole thing a couple times actually made me enjoy those songs less, though. The rest of the songs on here made me realize Glover can do so much better than those. This is a great record, but it is still bogged down by some awful puns, especially on songs like 3005.
