Not Trve enough for the Kvlt kids and a little too extreme for the Trivium mainstream fans , I applaud Heafy making
something that’s all over the place yet cohesive at the same time.

It feels more Trivium lite than any epic black metal record. It has some grand ideas, and Ishan and Way's contributions do bring something, but on the whole it felt pretty unremarkable. It's still worth checking out if you're a Trivium fan, but don't expect the quality of black metal as you would have gotten with Emperor or Mayhem.

The riffs are still so Trivium-esque and it's Heafy's voice so it feels very Trivium but with ra lot more blasts and experimental sounds layered throughout. Pretty solid stuff but won't rexceed anyone's expectations i'm afraid. If Matt put together a live lineup for this I would rlove to see Ibaraki take the stage with Opeth.

I was a big fan of "In The Court Of The Dragon" last year, and this is essentially an even more ambitious and extreme metal inspired prog-fest than that was. So many dope little folky elements, and pristine production for a """"black metal"""" album. Also has me looking forward to new Mcr.
