We couldn't have asked for a better start for 2023. Funeral is a special piece in the discography, since it comes with quite a lot of clean vocals and folk elements. It often evokes different atmospheres: Sometimes it feels bizarre and unsettling (twisted riffs, monstrous vocals and spooky synths); other times immersive and epic from being quite catchy (Funeral contains some surprisingly "light riffs) but, for example "Paithas" brings a very epic and "ancient" vibe into the picture as well (believe it or not: Celtic melodies played on nyckelharpa and kantele). Like other avant-garde metal albums, this requires a couple of spins. But if you're unsure, just try the aforementioned song, "Paithas".
