It feels like his weird experimental influences and his ability to write massive bangers have finally converged. Other than the pretty weak 'Show Yourself', this is classic Crack The Skye-esque Mastodon. However this time they've managed to combine the not-so-subtle cheesy D&D/fantasy vibes from their last album or two with some music that isn't total shit.Mastodon Blood MountainMatmos Ultimate Care IIMegadeth Rust in PeaceNeil Young ZumaNeutral Milk Hotel On Avery IslandNine Inch Nails Pretty Hate MachineNine Inch Nails BrokenNine Inch Nails The FragileNine Inch Nails Bad WitchBest thing they've done in years. A couple of really strong tracks (DNA, DUCKWORTH, HUMBLE), packed out with shitty Drake rip-off tracks. I hope all the double album theories are right because it really feels like he's fucking with us here.Royal Blood TyphoonsOn first listen I am whelmed. I'm a bit of a Royal Blood apologist, mainly because they're fantastic live and I don't have any issue with their simplistic style. Other than a couple of the singles, I'm not getting much out of this, and even the best tracks aren't wonderful. Hard to wrap my head around how this took them 4 years.1.5 very poorTrivium The Crusade
