album holds up remarkably well considering the rest of PTV's discog hasn't -- actually pretty progressive with a lot of subtle latin influence, much more dynamic than your typical edgy circa-2010 screamo -- vic isn't great but the compositions are generally strong, and mike is beastly. 15 year old me was right because this record is underappreciated.

obviously overproduced as hell, and a bit rote at times. but damn, the hooks and vocals are infectious. it's a shame the vocalist quit the band right after releasing this record, because he's much, much improved.

This is a great return to form for this band. Will Putney's production is good, similar to
the past three records the band recorded with him. The album has lots of For Today tropes. There
are breakdowns and chugging verses galore. But the more familiar parts of the record are nicely
juxtaposed by slower, somber moments on tracks like "Bitter Roots" and "Deserter", interesting
parts like the introductions of both "Hopesless Ambition" and "Time And Tide", and tons of
interesting guitar playing. However, the best part of this record is easily the vocals. Mattie's
screams are top notch and Ryan Leitru's baritone cleans are very nice. And secular fans will be
pleased to know the band's lyrics contain much less gospel preaching, and are much more accessible
to non-Christian listeners. As a whole, this record is awesome, and it's nice to see For Today
come back so strongly after their disastrous fifth album.

Belle Haven Everything Ablaze
This album is a somewhat entertaining Australian post-hardcore romp. Its production by Matt Goldman is great. Belle Haven's instrumentation is satisfactory, and has some interesting guitar work. The record's real flaw is the band's vocals. The album's screams are great, and woefully underused. The cleans, on the other hand, are borderline unbearable at times. Vocalist David Vernon adores using his falsetto at about every opportunity he can, and tries to sing above his regular, probable-baritone range into tenor territory, with poor results. Vernon's performance is a shame because he has a nice voice, but decides to seriously misuse it. Overall, Belle Haven's debut has a solid foundation, and nothing more.

when they decide to go full tilt into their weirdo rnb-core shtick (find forever and drink about it are highlights), it's loads of fun and even a bit daring. when they try to go down a more typical djent (downfall is a lowlight), it drags and drags and drags

utter, pure schlock, but the voices elevate this past mediocrity. the non-JC/JT members
were underrated singers -- chris kirkpatrick is especially great here.

Whether, I Catalyst
Whether, I's first full length record is a good start for an upcoming band. Released by InVogue rRecords, Robby Joyner produced the album, and it sounds excellent. The band stay within very rconventional post-hardcore limits. There isn't much uniqueness here. But, while they walk a well-rtreaded path, Whether, I executes the genre formula pretty well. The vocals, especially the wicked rscreams, are really great. The group's instrumentation is also rock solid. Songs like "Novelist" rand "Mistweaver" are great tunes, and the release is surprisingly groovy. Overall, this is quite rplain post-hardcore music, but it's fun and highly enjoyable, and a solid debut for a promising rgroup of musicians.

Mizell really ruined Jonny's vocals on this record. They sound so artificial and tampered with.
