Is everyone's ears broken? I hear a solid, extremely well-produced psychedelic indie rock album. The songwriting here is great. I read critics say the dark subject matter doesn't match their colorful soundscapes. I find it funny considering Pumped Up Kicks was a pop song about a kid shooting students at school. Come on, listen again. They are really starting to sound like a complete band here instead of just a experimental dance project. |

This will always be one of the best "singing in the car by yourself" albums of all time. But that always leads to a broken CD jewel case and a scratched up disc that track 11 is ruined on. Bah, it's okay. I didn't really like Sulk anyway... |

Their story is one about loss, mortality, and human frailty. That's why Louder Than Words had to be second-rate dad rock. Take it as it is. As a 21st century Floyd fan I'm excited to even be a part of a new Pink Floyd album. It's a familiar and a one-of-a-kind sound and feeling. It's not perfect, but they really do try to mesh together all their sounds, that spanned three decades. It makes you wonder how broken their relationship is with Roger, still to this day. I mean, I understand these songs came from 1993 sessions, but we all fantasize about that one final reunited collaboration. It could never happen to Floyd, though. That would be too romantic. But it's just like: c'mon guys. You are some of the most influential musicians in the world. Couldn't you set your bullshit aside for one moment before biting the dust? |

The (new) band turns up the heavy again when they should be focusing on the melodies and instrumentation a little more closely. A good album, but doesn't compare to the diversity in their last effort. |

Why all the negativity with this one? It's the most intriguing thing they've done in a while, and they are having fun again. Everyone acts like Wayne Coyne has to be some guru master of existentialism, when he sometimes just likes to write songs about giraffes laughing, girls using Vaseline as jelly, and buying unicorns with purple eyes (not green). These guys are modern psychedelia legends, and it is almost criminal that the consensus on Sputnik averages out to a measly "3". You guys really like their second album more than this? For F--k's sake. I got my tickets for a Lips show in April, who needs all of you? |
