Every track sees her stretching herself as a musician and taking her voice to new interesting place. As per usual with Newsom's music, the lyrics are the selling point for me. Each song paints a picture so vivid, and so thought provoking that you can't help but feel you stumbled on the worlds greatest poet. Occasionally Newsom mumbles her lines and gives a bit of a stilted delivery, but for the most part her vocals and overall tone is fantastic. Instrumentally this album is wild. The harp and piano are the main instruments, but she isn't afraid to bring in a whole host of other instruments to help tell her story. This is a woman who knows how to make things sound epic. The overall sound is so grandiose that at points it can be over the top.
