Been so long since I heard music as good as this. I was starting to get sad that I couldn?t in good faith give albums 5 anymore, but this just blew me away, powerful, beautiful, bittersweet, melancholic, energetic, all in 30 minutes. Really deserving of my first 5 in the last 150 albums or so I?ve rated
Talk Talk Laughing Stock
Talking Heads Stop Making Sense
Since this is literally accompanied by the film, I see no reason not to rate the music alongside the visual style and flair of
David Byrne and his crew. This is the most energetic, incredible live album AND film I’ve ever seen. This beats any live
album it competes with, as well as every studio album by Talking Heads themselves, save Remain In Light. Masterpiece
in not only its music, but its staging, shots and performance by every member of the band and crew.
Talking Heads Remain in Light
The Beatles Abbey Road
The Beatles Revolver
The Cure Pornography
I do not understand how this could NOT be a perfect album. I was considering a 4.5 just because I never give 5s
anymore but then I listened again and it just felt wrong. I’ve listened to this 3 times in a row, and yes it deserves a 5.
Such a scary album, unrivalled even by Disintegration in how confidently it extracts the darkest thoughts of humanity,
and the music matches without ever becoming an overwhelming boast of how dark the music can be and still be called

Yes Close to the Edge

4.5 superb
A Tribe Called Quest The Low End Theory
Agalloch The Mantle
Akira Yamaoka Silent Hill 2
remind me to come back and 5 this
Al Stewart Year of the Cat
Practically perfect, just a few moments I wasnt sold on, but otherwise this is as lush and simply enjoyable as they ever did come. The title track is one of the best songs of all time, which does not hurt
Angelo Badalamenti Twin Peaks
Listen man this is a zeugma for chill if I ever heard one
Antonio Vivaldi The Four Seasons
Arcade Fire Funeral
At the Drive-In Relationship of Command
This is, again, a 5 that I cannot justify yet. I felt a 4.5 until invalid litter dept. which by the way is one of the greatest punk emo songs I think ive ever heard. Give me time and ill rethink. My standards for a 5 annoy me more than anyone else and im really rooting for this one
Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique
The sampling is just NUTS bro this is why I loved madvillainy the flow is just so funny to me still, but this bumps heavy
Bela Bartok Music for Strings, Percussion & Celesta, Sz. 106
Yeah this one is just flames actually
Big Thief Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
Bjork Debut
There?s definitely something to be said about this being the most accessible, so I don?t know if it?ll grow on me like Vespertine has. Either way, this is just such a good album, heavily underrated I feel
Bjork Homogenic
I?m not sure if this supersedes Vespertine in terms of musical quality, but the legacy alone and the time of her life makes an album of even a 3.5?s worth of quality a 4.5. Love many tracks, but I think I still prefer Vespertine
Bjork Vespertine
Black Country, New Road Ants from Up There
This is easily the best album of the 2020's so far, people are giving this hate on Sput and for the life of me I can't think of a reason except the sputcore fanatics just cling to their obscure dark metal and hardcore. This is an incredible album, rivals the post rock of BRUIT without even designating the whole album to the tension and release. This could be an easy 5 with time, but some of the soundoffs on this site just reek of unfounded hatred of new music. Give it time, this will be a classic, and no one will be impressed at your contrarianism anymore. The songwriting and lyrics are brilliant, even when the mundanity of the subject matter meets the controlled explosion of the instrumentals, especially later on in the album. This album is phenomenal, and sput looks to have a very sore behind on account of the ratings some of you guys are handing out.
Black Sabbath Paranoid
Not 5.0 man the second half just do be dragging for me
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath Master Of Reality
This, musically, is easily the best black sabbath album, it kicks ass the whole way through, and the riffs and vocals are the most solid of the black sabbath?s first era. It would have been perfect, if not for the fact that After Forever and the story behind it is simply so unintentionally hilarious, but apart from that, side 2 is the best side of sabbath music ever, maybe only beaten by side one of paranoid.
Black Star Black Star
From literally a first listen, this shit is probably my favourite hip hop album I?ve listened to in the last 2 years. 5 might be pushing it, but it is DEFINITELY not falling short of that boundary. Some almost prophetic insight on this one, 1998 couldn?t grasp this like 2023 can. Edit: is not on the level of some of my other 5s, and started thinking if the infamous or low end theory aren?t 5s I don?t know if this is
Boards of Canada Music Has the Right to Children
Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited
Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks
Bob Dylan The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
I started seeing the points people made about inconsistencies near the end of the album but the start is just so so
strong, there wasn’t a song I didn’t love all the way up to maybe Bob Dylan’s Dream which I thought was alright, and the
rest were a bit predictable. Doesn’t change the fact that I was absolutely entranced by side one, plus don’t think twice,
it’s alright, which honestly makes me well up in a way I can’t adequately explain. Maybe if I had the lyrical skill of Dylan I
could. But I don’t. And nor does anyone else to be frank
Bob Marley and The Wailers Legend
Probably the best compilation album I?ve ever listened to, just straight bangers straight fire
Bob Marley and The Wailers Exodus
No weak moments on this one, just genuinely enjoyable from start to finish. Not so much incredible for standout moments as much as for consistently great songwriting
Boris Boris At Last -Feedbacker-
almost utterly unlistenable at times, pure grating noise, and maybe the best drone/slowcore showcase Ive ever heard. Part 2 is one of the most simply haunting and soulrending pieces of music to ever grace these ears o mine. Fantastic
Boston Boston
Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
4.5 because I?m not entirely on board with the almost hysterical religious overtones at times, considering I almost cringe looking back at my former self who had similar emotions near age 14/15r
Brand X Moroccan Roll
I fuck with Phil Collins side chick HEAVY vro, better than unorthodox behaviour for me. Could go down to a 4 but I was really feeling it
Bruce Springsteen Born to Run
BRUIT The Machine Is Burning...
C418 Volume Alpha
Camel Moonmadness
Camel The Snow Goose
Camel Camel
Holy shit these guys dont miss???!!rIn the heat of battle they dont miss. In the heat of controversy they don't miss. This admittedly feels less proggy and conceptual than what they'd go on to do but STILL
Can Monster Movie
You know that one scene of Binky from Arthur floating into space listening to music? Me circa ten minutes ago listening to You Doo Right
Car Seat Headrest Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
Caravan If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You
Caravan In the Land of Grey and Pink
Charles Mingus Mingus Ah Um
This is the best Mingus baby I?m gonna wait patiently for the popular opinion to sway my mind
Charli XCX Brat
Want to 4.5 this and I might if I relisten because this is the illmatic of British girls on terraria club remixes
Charli XCX Brat and it's the same but there's three more…
Okay yeah I guess it deserves its own rating it really is that good. Everybody say thank you Charli for carrying club culture AND gay culture on her back this year
Chat Pile God's Country
Yeahhhhhh he’s speaking facts
Comus First Utterance
I feel like a group of druids just fed me a lethal amount of ayahuasca and are now dancing around me in wooden masks and performing a pagan ritual concert very trippy I love it though. I think it handles the darker elements of its subject matter (murder, rape etc) more artfully than albums that have similar themes (Soundtracks for the Blind, In Absentia etc) because it just feels authentic to such a graphic experience
Curtis Mayfield Superfly
This is to What?s Going On as The Infamous is to Illmatic, and I?ll be damned if this isnt a hell of a lot more enjoyable. Nearly a 5, again.
D'Angelo Voodoo
Probably the top 5 4.5?s I?ve got. So close to a 5 it isnt funny but god this requires some serious deep listening to get into
D'Angelo Brown Sugar
My man went on an absolute tear for the last 4 songs what a run from the man
Daft Punk Discovery
Aptronym (n): An aptronym is a name that suits its owner in an apt way. e.g. Too Long by Daft Punk. Anyway first half rules

David Kauffman and Eric Caboor Songs From Suicide Bridge
Got this recommendation from an assumed mortal enemy but listen it?s pretty damn good
Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Deafheaven Sunbather
Aaaaaa noooo please black metal purists no I’m only a boy aaaaaaa how could I enjoy this album how STUPID of me
noooo
Death The Sound of Perseverance

boi
Deep Purple Machine Head
Defeater Lost Ground
?Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.? Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The story is perfect, I would describe this EP as perfect, but PLEASE I only wish it were longer
Devin Townsend Ocean Machine: Biomech
Almost lost me in the middle but definitely earns a strong 4.5. I was genuinely considering 5ing it by the first two songs alone, the intro is just that good. Side note: the outro of the closer is a masterclass in how to not make it onto any playlist
Dio Holy Diver
Dissection Storm of the Light's Bane
DJ Shadow Endtroducing.....
Dodheimsgard Black Medium Current
Genuinely unlike any of its contemporaries, does everything it needs to and nothing it doesn?t, and yet still is full of anguish, ambiguity and passion. Very very very good. The rating is not a hoax
Doopees Doopee Time
This is such an amazing idea like I love how whimsical the execution is on a story about heartbreak and CANCER??!! There is something genuinely comfy about this whole album I really really really like it and I probably will never fully put my finger on why
Edge of Sanity Crimson
Let me listen again this is 5-worthy no doubt
Electric Wizard Dopethrone
This album is just fucking DISGUSTING it feels like walking through a sewer in winter but boy oh boy am I a dirty little guy for this sludge
Elliott Smith Either/Or
Elliott Smith Elliott Smith
Emerson, Lake and Palmer Trilogy
Probably my favourite ELP album. Definitely my favourite ELP album. Why? It is simply the most consistent at dodging ELP wankery. Not to say it has none, I wasn?t particularly impressed by the note they ended on with Bolero, but man if the rest of this album wasn?t an absolute joy. ELP show what they can do when they put substance over style.
Erik Satie Gymnopédies
Ethel Cain Preacher's Daughter
BRUH THIS ALBUM IS A MOVIE. I literally don?t want to do a soundoff or review about it and I wouldn?t even recommend you read one, this album could literally be spoiled. Just LISTEN to this album and consume reviews afterward. I?m gonna relisten to this album and 5 it in like a month. 2022 is the best year for music in AGES.
Fishmans 98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare
Absolutely insane for a live album, but In the Air really loses me, and that's a 16 minute song that I feel lacks direction. Regardless, Long Season is even better than the studio album, and everything else is just perfect
Fishmans Long Season
Listening a couple times really helps you ?get it? tbh
Fleetwood Mac Rumours
I gave this a 5 on the basis of this being basically a greatest hits album, but like find one person on Earth whose favourite is second hand news or never going back again. I love this album, the highs - dreams, the chain, you make loving fun - are the highest that pop rock has ever reached but oh boy there are stinkers on this album. Some albums I rate a 5 based on the success with which they execute their intent, and this ALMOST qualifies Rumours as a 5, but man within the album are repetitive songs, which is not to its detriment, unless we're talking the first and third songs, which drive me insane. Anyway 4.7 if I had the ability to do so.
Frail Body Artificial Bouquet
Im being serious because this happens with all new albums. The recency bias falls apart and the album of the year
becomes another 3.9. Do NOT let it happen to this album, this album is absolutely unbelievable. This does to me what
other people have claimed Jane Doe does for them, captures complete lyrical mastery about complicated but universal
struggles. This album is immense. Not one second wasted. Album of the year so far, and if I hear another contender, Im
going to relisten to this just to solidify how great this one is.
Frank Zappa Hot Rats
Fripp and Eno Evening Star
Funkadelic Maggot Brain
I swear to god slap me if this isn?t a five in like a week
Gang Starr Moment of Truth
No misses, no skips, but this isnt the 5 I desperately wanted it to be, even despite how much it impressed me. Probably top 3 90?s hip hop albums, and probably not third. Beats are fucking AWESOME
Gas Pop
dam this the vibiest shi ever
Genesis Selling England by the Pound
Genesis Foxtrot
Genesis The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Incredible story obviously, hugely abstract and didactic, but I can?t help but feel like the music itself becomes blander than selling England by the pound or foxtrot, for the sake of getting across the story?s narration
Gentle Giant Octopus
Geordie Greep The New Sound
I worry very much about my rating. Because I always rate black midi / adjacent ?new sound? music like 4.5 and then never listen to it again. But this does get a 4.5 because of the balls it takes to call your album THE NEW SOUND and have it just be freaky jazz prog so in a sense he delivers there. I respect the hell out of this album and the lyrics are maybe the most evocative Ive heard this year. But do I LOVE it? Maybe not yet, but I trust myself to come back and love it for real. Just like Greep loves other men fucking his wife !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Giles Corey Giles Corey
Damn I’m with this guy
Godspeed You! Black Emperor Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞
Okay I just feel like the resolutions to these monstrously long buildups just don't pay off as well, like it succeeds in building up an incredible atmosphere but I just think it demands your attention too infrequently and with too little payoff or interest. Not quite as good as slow riot and not NEARLY as good as antennas to heaven. Still better than most other post rockrEdit: bumping it up because I was wrong and this is beautiful and dark and twisted and fantasy this shit slaps
Gong Angel's Egg
God I love Canterbury obviously I'd never go but still
Gorguts Considered Dead
So what if it?s not some chaotic horrific ear bleeder it?s death metal you are splitting hairs and this thing fucking shreds
Gospel The Loser
With 17 years to enhance the final product, Gospel have really made this one count. Seems
marginally more accessible than the debut, but in doing so doesn't sacrifice any of the
energy, especially vocally. Needs time for me, though, but with two listens under my belt
already it's in my top 2 this year. Great album, excited to see how it grows on me
Gospel The Moon Is a Dead World
GZA Liquid Swords
Insane first few songs for me, but in terms of flow it isn?t consistently perfect, but I can see it easily becoming even better with some familiarity. Better than 36 chambers, though, definitely true, though I?ll still go back to recheck it, both are obviously brilliant.
Haruomi Hosono/Shigeru Suzuki/Tatsuro Yamashita Pacific
I might not have vibed so hard maybe ever. Give this album more love man what an incredible experience. Just feels like a holiday. Plus the second track is definitely used in some YouTube show. The last track also is so unique and out of pocket im in love
Hatfield And The North The Rotter's Club
Love it. Just love this album. It's a perfect blend of everything you really want to see in a feel-good minimalist prog fusion album. Though its status as a 5 is not out of the question, some tracks are exceedingly long without much necessity, I just think it deserves to be as close as can be to a 5. I'm such a sucker for songs that blend into each other, this and Soft Machine are the best examples in the world of this. Could get a 5 on a different day, truly.
Hiroyuki Sawano "Attack On Titan" Season3 Original Soundtrack
Season three part two is practically perfect and the music has a HUGE part of that. SO dramatic, not recommending for general listening, but like every other aot soundoff says, it fits the show SO well
Howard Shore The Fellowship of the Ring
Man this just defines classic, the shire theme makes me cry
Howard Shore The Return of the King
This is what the combination of the first two look like. Sweeping, epic, emotional like the second, with the simply iconic themes of the first. I will never not cry at the shire theme. Watch me watch the movies again and 5 this.
Husker Du Zen Arcade
Even without taking into account its influence, Zen Arcade is a testament to the success of conceptual alt rock at a major shifting point in the genre. Real bangers on this, most towering of all the immense Reoccurring Dreams, a 14 minute wall of shredding distortion, inevitably hypnotising any listener. An incredible achievement, and one of my new favourites
Immolation Close to a World Below
This record is absolutely swamped in hellfire that?s easily its biggest seller. The atmosphere is unrivalled in death metal
Iron Maiden Powerslave
Two minutes to midnight is absolutely unbelievable, same with the duellists, and who could forget the epic closer, musically a big accomplishment, even if it becomes fairly overlong. Not to the discredit of the rest of the album, which stands as a pillar of metal above many, if not all contemporaries
Iron Maiden The Number Of The Beast
Why isnt there metal like this coming out anymore? Clean songwriting that just fucks completely heavily. Children of the damned is like one of the best riffs Ive ever heard
ISIS Panopticon
This album doesn?t have a bad song on it, I really see the high rating now.
J.J. Cale Naturally
This is just the best man. I needed this in my life exactly now, what a stroke of luck to find it. Probably the best bluesy album I?ve ever heard, just chill guitar pretty much right through, really no misses.
James Taylor Sweet Baby James
I?ll happily admit this is a 4 to anyone who has a problem with a 4.5, but just the circumstances I listened to this in made it just perfect
Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt
Not a high 4.5 but it makes the cut. Because I never understood the reverence for Jay but this is genuinely too slick. He doesnt really give it all the energy he could, his laidback nonchalant delivery doesnt really give me much, but the pen game is pretty off the charts. Nothing more needs to be said about Brooklyns Finest because we all know biggie and jay crafted a complete classic there
Jeff Buckley Grace
A really monumental album, I'm absolutely in love, but I feel like it loses steam nearing the end. That's not to take away from the rest of this otherwise perfect album, it's genuinely special.
Jeremy Soule The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Soundtrack
Jethro Tull Aqualung
Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick
Joey Valence and Brae No Hands
This is to me as brat is to the misguided female youth. Is it better than brat? Almost. The potential is there.
John Coltrane A Love Supreme
John Coltrane Giant Steps
There is literally nothing in jazz that makes you ?this is jazz? faster or more intensely than the beginning of giant steps
Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison
Something about the inmates? reactions and Johnny?s interactions with them makes this SO authentic, the atmosphere is just perfect. The music is, of course, as cool as it comes, but even when it drops minutely in quality you can still tell the impact it?s having on the prisoners. Amazing live album.
Joni Mitchell Blue
Joy Division Closer
Judas Priest Painkiller
No bad songs and no mediocre songs either. Just heavy and mean the whole way through, but I don?t think it?s as good as the website gives it credit for, but that?s just me
Jun Senoue Sonic Adventure Original Soundtrack
impossible to overstate what a banger this whole album is
Kate Bush The Dreaming
Kayo Dot Choirs of the Eye
Endlessly creative and of course there are BEAUTIFUL songs on here. The lyrics too are really something. I still slightly prefer bath, but that may be just me.
Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly
Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city
I actually prefer this to tpab what the hell??? Wayyy more utterly insane tracks on here, plus this just feels more personal, especially Real which I didn't really feel at first, but the voicemail from his parents at the end was really cool to be honest
King Crimson Lizard
King Crimson Discipline
King Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Just relistened to this it is literally like a 4.8 if I had the ability this is so close to perfect, but alas I do not round up to 5s you gotta be either practically perfect or connect with me in an almost HORRIFICALLY emotional way
King Crimson Radical Action To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind
King Crimson A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson
Koji Kondo The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask OST
Koji Kondo The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past OST
I think, for all two ratings this has received so far, this soundtrack doesn't get enough credit. Koji Kondo only surpasses this with the OoT and MM soundtracks. What especially is snubbed is the fact that this defines so much of what Zelda's music became. In a word: Iconic
Koji Kondo Super Mario Galaxy OST
Kyuss Welcome To Sky Valley
Lana Del Rey Norman Fucking Rockwell!
Lauryn Hill The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Led Zeppelin Untitled
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin II
Leonard Cohen Songs of Leonard Cohen
Goddamn if I aint stumped to bits. That is a proper real album of poetry right there. One of the first of its kind no less, and I could honestly see this getting a 5 if I dedicate myself to it better
Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Sonata No14 C-sharp minor,Op.27No2
Ignore the rest of what I said about Beethoven (not as good as people say), he PROVES himself here, could probably be a 5 but because I'm hesitant about it it'll be a 4.5 for now. It's by far the most emotional music I've heard from him, Moonlight Sonata will just club your feet out from under you, and the third movement honestly goes harder than your average thrash band and he was doin this 200 years ago. Go off Ludwig
Lynyrd Skynyrd Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd
Classic Rock is honestly not for me but there?s no way you can just ignore the incredible songwriting and honest lyrics. A landmark album, even if it?s not my speed I can appreciate what it did for music. And you know something I would die for free bird, you could put that solo on any genre of music and it would be an immense song, I love that song regardless of my feelings for the rest of the album
Machine Girl Neon White OST 1 - The Wicked Heart
This is top ten, if not top 5 albums of the year. Machine Girl have their best project yet, and its not even close. It?s not for the background, but instead hypnotic in a way that demands your attention and forces you into the swirling electronic melody. Percussion certainly isnt lacking either, very rewarding to figure out every little break and fill.
Magnolia Electric Co Magnolia Electric Co
This takes just about everything out of you in just about 45 minutes. This might just be my newest 5 out of 5 album. Just Killer. Father John Misty wishes he could have this
Mahavishnu Orchestra The Inner Mounting Flame
Manaka Kataoka The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sound Sele
My favourite game of all time, bar absolutely none. Every single piece matches the exact
emotion it aims to capture. I don't know what I'd give to hear this soundtrack for the
first time again. A lot, probably.
Manchester Orchestra A Black Mile to the Surface
Martin O'Donnell Halo 3 OST
best halo game anad the best halo soundtrack. the game itself is great, but it wouldn't be anything without the sheer drama of the strings and the horns.
Martin O'Donnell Halo Original Soundtrack
maudlin of the Well Leaving Your Body Map
This is such an inspired melding of genre but I cannot tell what could've inspired this. Agalloch's The Mantle comes to mind but that was a year later. This, and bath are incredible statements, and they complete each other in a way that makes me want to give bath (the component I feel is marginally superior) even more kudos
Megadeth Rust in Peace
Michael Giacchino Ratatouille
Michael Giacchino The Incredibles
damnit michael ya did it again! magnum opus. 100 percent. beautiful.
Miles Davis Kind of Blue
Miles Davis In a Silent Way
Oh yeah baby now THIS is what I am talkin about
Mobb Deep The Infamous
This is just a scary Illmatic and believe you me I was SCARED.
Mount Eerie A Crow Looked at Me
If I wrote reviews I would write one for this. No music or any art has ever made me cry like this. This is not sophisticated lyricism or complex music, this is just raw emotion condensed into 41 minutes that will tear you up. This is real, and knowing that makes me angry to experience this, and cry as if I could ever understand what Phil is going through, so I both respect and hate this piece of art for existing, and for what it did to me emotionally. It is incredible, but I will be hard pressed to revisit it.
Mr. Bungle California
The most interesting and face-slapping palette of instruments and styles, and even more gobsmackingly executed, swiftly and deftly. Could?ve been twice the length, it feels like a playlist I?ve made rather than a single album recorded and released in the same name at the same time. Consider me utterly confounded and intrigued.
My Bloody Valentine Only Shallow
Just a tune mate
Nas Illmatic
Neil Young After the Gold Rush
An essential listen for anyone who likes a mf on guitar just SPITTIN. I didnt care for Birds that much, and there were a few moments that stopped it from being a 5, but Southern Man and Oh Lonesome Me slap that shit outta here. Great great album
Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Nick Drake Five Leaves Left
Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral
Probably up there with the best albums I?ve ever heard. Only problem is I do not see myself coming back and just jamming such a leviathan.
Ninja Sex Party These Nuts
There is literally nothing else like the trilogy of Sports Anthem, Seatbelts and Nut Heat. This might be their funniest album ever because how do you come up with a concept like Dance Till You Stop more than once in an entire lifetime like that sentence alone is so fucking funny
Opeth Blackwater Park
On its way to a 5. I need to hear Still Life, I think that would give me a fuller picture of how to appraise this one. Note for later: I have heard this isn?t a concept album, but I like to think it is, like with Rain Dogs, the songs are all different in narrative but the narrators share a theme, that being the desolation of Blackwater Park. Furthermore, this shit slaps
Opeth Still Life
I?m now caught in a very tough debate about whether I prefer this or blackwater park and this. I love the story of this so much, but on a track by track basis, it becomes a much closer battle. Both incredible, but I really only want one to be a CLASSIC in my ratings, and I?ll get to the bottom of it because I know Opeth deserves it between these two masterpieces
Parannoul After The Magic
Parannoul is ONE GUY?!! Not this shit again. My favourite album of the year thus far, liable for a 4.5
Parliament Mothership Connection
Patti Smith Horses
Phoebe Bridgers Punisher
Pink Floyd The Dark Side Of The Moon
Pink Floyd Animals
Pink Floyd Meddle
Pink Floyd The Wall
It’s killing me inside whether this is a 4.5 or a 5 because it’s probably the best single story music has told, to me at least,
in terms of the humanity and the nuance of building such a wall, but i have to admit some songs just aren’t as perfect as
they could be, and being PERFECT to me just slips out of this album’s grasp. But it is very very difficult for me to say this
isn’t a 5, but it will be maybe in my heart whenever I hear the trial and comfortably numb. Second best pink Floyd album,
no matter what these stupid Animals nerds try to tell you
Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii
4.5 for the best Echoes rendition of all time
Pixies Doolittle
Pixies Surfer Rosa
I always thought it was a pretentious attitude to prefer this to Doolittle but I?ll be honest I think the relentlessness of this album suits Pixies better. Doolittle better songs, Surfer Rosa better album
Portishead Dummy
Premiata Forneria Marconi Per un amico
Prince Purple Rain
Queen Sheer Heart Attack
Queen A Night at the Opera
Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime
God I am a sucker for concepts like this, gotta love ending up in a state insanity after the woman of your dreams dies (-Opeth reference-)
Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine
I wanted to 5 this so bad? maybe next time
Rainbow Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
Rainbow Rising
For as good as stargazer is, and as epic as the rest of the tracklist, it?s something that I think my 5s could live without. Maybe on revisit it?ll earn it back
Red House Painters Down Colorful Hill
Oooooh I might maybe 5 this one ooooh I just might we won?t know for sure but Ooh boy I just might
Refused The Shape Of Punk To Come
Renaissance Ashes Are Burning
You got me fucked up with how underrated this is, the vocal melodies made me violently writhe around in glee
Renaissance Scheherazade and Other Stories
SHE SIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS SCHEHERAZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE
Robert Wyatt Rock Bottom
Roy Ayers Everybody Loves the Sunshine
This album could be the best funk soul album I?ve ever heard, might not have the depth of voodoo or the versatility of funkadelic but it?s just such a tight project. It?s like 3° here and this man still has me out here loving the sunshine
Rush 2112
Sade Love Deluxe
Was considering a 5 for this, but gave it some time before I came back to give a rating, and I think a high 4.5 is fair. Probably 4.7/8?
Shoji Meguro Persona 5 OST
Sigur Ros Agætis byrjun
Slayer Reign in Blood
Slint Spiderland
Soft Machine Third
Sonic Youth Daydream Nation
SOUL GLO Diaspora Problems
This mf HATES my ass I should start shooting politicians
Soundtrack (Anime) Attack on Titan
You guys are just haters this soundtrack is insane
Soundtrack (Anime) Death Note Soundtrack 1
Soundtrack (Disney) Aladdin
Soundtrack (Video Game) Final Fantasy VII REMAKE (Original Soundtrack)
puts a shiny new coat of paint on one of the most creative and exciting rpg osts of all time
Soundtrack (Video Game) Fight Songs: The Music of Team Fortress 2
holy GODDAMN this is the classiest soundtrack ever. i honestly could give this a five any day of the week this is the style of music you never knew you needed for this game oh my god i love this soundtrack.
Spiritualized Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space
It was a 4.5, then almost a 5 then a 4.5 then a 4 then a 4 then a 4 then I was like Hm maybe we might be losing it here and THEN cops started shooting each other and I was like OKAY SHIT OKAY a 4.5 it is
State Faults Children of the Moon
I listened to this about a month ago or so, left my rating because I needed to relisten and let it to soak in, thats how good it was. Not ready to 5 it but this is album of the decade so far (maybe tied with the bcnr which gets too much hate on here)
Steve Hillage Fish Rising
Cold album, untouchable first half, not massive on aftaglid yet but the rest is great
Steven Wilson The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)
Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life
Stevie Wonder Innervisions
Great great album, might almost take this over key of life (probably not though). Fantastic side one and ending for side 2, but the start of side 2 just doesn?t grab me as much. That is not to take away from the rest of the album which is, majorly, without notable flaw
Sunny Day Real Estate Diary
I was immensely enjoying this album, then saw it was 1994, and realised how monumentally important this album must be. Anyway, even outside of context, a fantastic listen
Swans Soundtracks for the Blind
Really genuinely incredible music, carving into the depths of Michael Gira?s mind and divining its cold and often upsetting nectar. Could've been a five, maybe it will be in the future, but for now I?m withholding that because just because you can musically recreate the incestuous codependent relationship between siblings doesn?t mean you should, no matter how experimental you are.
Sweet Trip Velocity : Design : Comfort
To all the dancers of the world is one of the best songs I have literally ever heard and I am in love with this fucking album off rip I swear to you
Sweet Trip You Will Never Know Why
The second greatest left turn in music history!! Or third. I will NEVER disclose number 2 though. This isn?t as adventurous as their acclaimed previous album but god damn if it is not JUST as enjoyable, if not more so. Much more accessible, even if not quite as good as velocity : design : comfort
Talk Talk Spirit of Eden
This one is easier to rate than laughing stock. I thought it was absolute immaculate, one of the most beautiful
atmospheres I?d ever heard, but Desire really turned me off for some reason. It just felt like, in a post rock climate, it
didn?t earn the loud bombastic section, it just jumped straight in, and made it a little jarring. Edit: I absolutely fucking
lied???? Desire is like the number one song I come back to now. Why am I such a hater???? The second side is not my
favourite anymore though, so a 4.5 it will stay. In fairness, everything else was pretty immaculate but I got snapped out
there
Talking Heads Fear of Music
Talking Heads Speaking in Tongues
Watching Stop Making Sense makes this album so wicked in retrospect, plus one of the strongest closers on any album of the 80?s, up with purple rain and pornography
Talking Heads The Name of this Band Is Talking Heads
Tangerine Dream Rubycon
Probably my number one ambient album of all time now. This or Evening Star by Fripp and Eno
Tangerine Dream Phaedra
I have never been lifted off the earth in such a way as I was with this album. Lie down, close your eyes, float away.
Television Marquee Moon
Me hearing the prog influences: : D Me hearing everyone comparing this with punk in any way they can: : |
The Beatles Penny Lane / Strawberry Fields Forever
The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour
The Clash London Calling
The Cure Disintegration
On the very very Cusp of a 5. Writing this now to remind myself to relisten to it when I come across this and see if I get it a bit more
The Dismemberment Plan Emergency & I
is good but to keep it real i really think i ought to relisten later when im in the demographic that people keep talking
about

Edit: fuck man.
The Doors The Doors
The Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin
Yeah man this is otherworldly, feeling like a 5 will be in order soon
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Are You Experienced
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Electric Ladyland
The Last Things Circles and Butterflies
This is an incredibly underappreciated diamond in the rough, and there are an absolutely mindboggling selection of instruments here. The songwriting, too, is nothing to scoff at, and the themes and lyrics are as heavy as you'd expect. There's so much to say about this album, so it's a shame the only access I can get to it is on a low quality youtube rip.
The Microphones Mount Eerie
The Microphones Microphones in 2020
The Moody Blues In Search of the Lost Chord
The Notorious B.I.G. Ready to Die
Easy 5 if this album wasn?t so weird and constant about sex, it is so annoying because I would 100% call this perfect without the excessive sex
The Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
The Smiths Hatful of Hollow
The Stooges Fun House
I will continue to listen to this but I am FIGHTING for this to be a 5 to me
The Stooges Raw Power
I?m tossing up my preference, I think fun house is still stronger but one thing is for damn sure. This album lives right up to its name. Especially RAW. Shits crazy brah
The Strokes Is This It
The Tallest Man on Earth The Wild Hunt
This is just a long grass lie down with a hat over your eyes album
The Velvet Underground The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Who Quadrophenia
The Who Who's Next
It is a 4 it is a 4 this album is a 4 and I am enjoying it as much as I would enjoy any album that I am going to give a 4. This album is- EEYYYYEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
Tigers on Trains Grandfather
I would?ve thought such a small band would?ve been overrated by this site but no it really is phenomenal
Tom Waits Rain Dogs
Tool Lateralus
This is obviously amazing and super impressive from a mathematical standpoint, but it requires more time because of how dense it is, and it loses a listener easily if they?re not fully committed to the album, so though I was considering a 5, it needs more time, it?s just such a behemoth.
Tool Ænima
Somehow I kept falling asleep every time I tried to listen to this and now actually listening to it wakefully, I do not know how. Anyway the energy and musicality is worthy of a 4.5. I was very hung up about using the metaphor ?hooker with a penis? especially with the constant ?Im the man so youre the man? notion coming across as expressly transphobic but then I listened again and gained media literacy and realised it wasn?t about men, but about The Man. So now its just based. Anyway 4.4, with Lateralus being probably a 4.6-4.7 given it is musically slightly superior and lyrically far more mature
Turnstile Glow On
Tyler, the Creator Flower Boy
Tyler, the Creator IGOR
This used to be a 4. But with time I really can appreciate it is simply on a level conceptually and instrumentally that is unmatched by anyone on this level of popularity, save Kendrick (which goes without saying)
Unwound Leaves Turn Inside You
Van der Graaf Generator Godbluff
Van der Graaf Generator H to He, Who Am the Only One
This is epically melodramatic but unlike how ELP tends to turn things pretentious, this, especially Lost, is melodramatic with FEELING. VDGG does it again.
Vashti Bunyan Just Another Diamond Day
Vince Guaraldi Trio A Charlie Brown Christmas
God this is too good it?s TOO good makes you believe in Christmas music again you know? Skating is SO good, dont get me started on Linus and Lucy and the GOATED Christmas Time Is Here. Awesome album. Merry Christmas everyone!!
Weatherday Come In
Ween Quebec
The Argus has some of the freakiest and most powerful lyrics Ive heard in a WHILE, and the rest of the album is no slouch. Not a HIGH 4.5, it probably just scratches that rating, but it Does Deserve it
Weezer Pinkerton (Deluxe Edition)
Some songs on here that I dont know if it was for timing issues or what but I dont know why the hell theyre not on the album, theyre fucking fantastic
Weezer Weezer
Weezer Pinkerton
Way more consistent songwriting, more enjoyable songs overall. But what the hell was Rivers on about with the young Japanese girl thing? Like he said questionable things definitely. Still super good
Willie Nelson Red Headed Stranger
Get down with it or fucking die this is the complete country package. Complete utter poetry.
Wire Pink Flag
Wu-Tang Clan Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Yes Fragile
Yes Tales from Topographic Oceans
Yeah there was one song that I wasn?t a fan of, yeah it was 20 minutes long, but honestly I really think this is an underrated Yes gem
Yoshihisa Hirano & Hideki Taniuchi Death Note Original Soundtrack
Yugo Kanno Diamond Is Unbreakable [Good Morning Morioh Cho!]
The BEST jojo theme, man. Stardust Man Appears (Arawareta Hoshikuzuno Otoko) and Courage (Yuki) are just all time bangers, this part has the best music no doubt

4.0 excellent
10,000 Blades Freshwater Muscle
park u was wilding take this off your worst list rn, its like the national and arctic monkeys had a slightly depressed lovechild
A Tribe Called Quest Midnight Marauders
Wicked but it?s no Low End Theory
ABBA ABBA Gold
AJJ Knife Man
Alan Silvestri Forrest Gump
The one iconic theme is pretty tuff but nothing extraordinary, just plain old good soundtracking. Probably silvestris best
Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill
alt-J An Awesome Wave
American Football American Football
Aphex Twin Richard D. James Album
Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works 85-92
Damn this is overrated imo? still a 4!! Cos it was a bit of a cultural reset, but just because you broke ground doesnt mean the ground wasn?t actually thin ice
Aphex Twin Drukqs
In the same boat as many others, a 4.3 to me that can?t be rounded up because it took me TWO deep goes to even finish the thing, an hour and forty even it fits for a project exploring this deep it does make the listen a serious odyssey
Arctic Monkeys Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Asia Asia
Badly Drawn Boy The Hour Of Bewilderbeast
This is a HIGH 4, like 4.2 or maybe 4.3, but I will reserve 4.5 for another time. Not to mention Once Around The Block is a special, special song to me, very very close to my heart, with a beautiful album attached to it as it turned out!
Bela Bartok Concerto for Orchestra, Sz. 116
A masterclass in proving Mozart?s old adage: ?The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between.? The third and fifth movements are soaring emotional pieces, but the overbearing silence in much of the music achieves not the control or nervous tension it aims for, but at its worst exhibits a lack of direction. Not to take away from the glorious finale, which along with the third movement alone takes this up to a 4/5, but I think the overbearing silence made for a sporadically aimless effort, at least in the rendition I chose to listen to
Benny The Butcher The Plugs I Met
A quick combination of jabs with a few hooks in there, a really convincingly good, concise album
Bill Evans and Jim Hall Undercurrent
A fantastic little album, not much that blows your socks off but really no complaints at all: smooth composition, technical playing without losing the human warmth, and my funny valentine really gets me, great track
Billy Woods Aethiopes
sickest shit this year, this has been an insane year for music so far and its only april
Billy Woods and Kenny Segal Maps
Was on a 3 or 3.5 but the second half just does not miss even once
Birds in Row Gris Klein
Fantastic release, feels like a gospel and modern life is war lovechild, and I?m really happy to have found them! Could?ve been a 4.5 again, but something stopped me near the end of the album, cannot explain what.
Bjork Fossora
I?m just a shroomy little guy what can I say (Bjork could throw a rubber chicken at a wall and crush it with a hydraulic
press and I would at LEAST 3.5 it)
Black Country, New Road For the first time
Black Country, New Road Science Fair
Black Midi Schlagenheim
I love that recent British post punk is just a fucking sick as hell instrumental and then the most manic vocalist they could find in a south london back alley
Black Midi Cavalcade
Ascending Forth is godly near the end. Nuff said, but honestly I do not understand the flack black midi gets, I do hope people come round to them because I am becoming black midified
Black Midi Hellfire
This shit FIRE. Get it like the name like of the albrLiterally why do I keep eating black midi 4.5 and then decide I dont really fuck with it like that. Best black midi still
Blondie Parallel Lines
Bo Burnham Inside (The Songs)
Bo Burnham what.
Boards of Canada Geogaddi
Man I LOVE ambience and field recordings in music. But what the fuck were they thinking when they put in the horrific fucking squelching noises in the devil is in the details ???
Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home
Fire but sometimes those vocals are WILD even for Dylan
Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde
Probably as close to 4.5 as it comes without being a 4.5. I just feel like Blood on the Tracks and Highway 61 Revisited are so much stronger that it?d feel wrong to give this the same score, though my continually growing respect for Dylan might bring all of their ratings up eventually
Bob Dylan Nashville Skyline
Lyrically his weakest but musically one of his strongest ive heard so far. Starting to like this country jive. Also pretty sure Bo burnham completely ripped off lay lady lay but I cant put my finger on how besides the chord progression
Boris Pink
Really great, I think I wanted to give it a 4.5 but couldnt justify it with some of the simpler songs, but definitely on the higher end of a 4, probably only barely losing out to albums like welcome to sky valley and dopethrone
Brand X Unorthodox Behaviour
You can really tell Big Phil Collins had something to prove when he hopped on this one
Brian Eno Ambient 1: Music For Airports
Buggin Concrete Cowboys
Listen up, you know its buggin on the track. They about to show you how they get REAAAAAAL funky with it. What a RIOT man when you can scare the hoes and send it to your girlfriend in the same breath that is just crazy. Might be a 4.5 actually
Burial Untrue
C418 Volume Beta
Great stuff but idk just not as iconic or nostalgic
Can Ege Bamyasi
I was riding a wave on side 1, I thought it could even be better than Tago Mago. Unfortunately I?m not a huge fan of Vitamin A, and Soup was a real disappointment. I don?t mind the avant garde or freeform, but this one felt particularly nonsensical, like it wasn?t even trying to evoke the emotions of an Aumgm or Halleluwah
Can Future Days
Candlemass Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
1,000th rating yayyyyyyyyyfillingouttheminimumcharacterlimit any this album is great, pretty much defines doom
Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band Safe As Milk
Caroline Polachek Desire, I Want To Turn Into You
Casiopea Casiopea
This is just classy it?s a shame I have NO idea what the songs are called. First album I listened to in a while though and it is good to be back with a bang
Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman
It could?ve been a 4.5 to be honest? I just forgot like three of the tracks as soon as I put it down, they aren?t ALL slapper certified. Father and Son, and weirdly enough Miles From Nowhere I LOVED
Charles Mingus The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Charles Mingus The Clown
I actually really enjoyed the final track, and there was a special kind of quirkiness to the title track. Not as good as black saint but I?ll go to the ends of the earth to prove that album is overrated so
Chelsea Wolfe She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She
Absolutely the album to beat this year. If it helps, this is what I imagined dummy would sound like when I saw the cover. Scary and yucky and yet so tasty?!!! anyway I feel like I?ve been purified in the waters of Nazareth or something
Childish Gambino "Awaken, My Love!"
Chipmunkson16speed Sludgefest
Oh my god this is insane?? Like it?s so good?? What for?? Explain yourself ???
Christopher Larkin Hollow Knight
Very atmospheric, probably better in game, but for some reason I thought that Greenpath?s melody was the main theme, and I?m disappointed it?s not because I love it so much
Cocteau Twins Heaven or Las Vegas
Cocteau Twins Treasure
Coldplay Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
Converge Jane Doe
Nice fucking try Genius.com those aren?t the lyrics
Cryptopsy None So Vile
This album can't be higher than a four because it kicked in my teeth, pulled my tongue out through my ass and mashed
my liver into pate. If that's the point (which it is) then mission accomplished, and the instrumentals are a heavy hand in
that of course, but the vocals are just absolutely not there for me. Very scary and aggressive sure, but for some reason
the rhythm of the words when you're reading along with a sheet makes it almost comical to hear how he's saying these
lines. Heavy as fuck, kicked my ass out through my teeth, but with glaring weaknesses for any human who isn't already
medically irreparable from listening to it
Danger Mouse and Black Thought Cheat Codes
I was So SO ready for a 4.5, I was LOVING this shit man, but it just lost its momentum in the second half. LOVED the DOOM feature, and production is just about as stellar as you know it should be, but man did I laugh at the line ?you aint shit you fucker, barely even a fart?. That was probably the 0.5 it lost honestly.
Daniel Johnston Songs of Pain
Daughters Daughters
David Bowie Hunky Dory
First side is a greatest hits album, second side is? not
David Bowie Station to Station
The kind of album that is really helped by biographical context of Bowie?s life. I?m not too thrilled by the songs, save Wild Is the Wind and the title track, but I?m not going to be as harsh as I would?ve been, considering the Lore behind the Thin White Duke
Death Human
Death Grips The Money Store
Deftones White Pony
Deltron 3030 Deltron 3030
I'll definitely revisit this one, especially the second half, which in my opinion is FAR superior to the first half, at least instrumentally. Favourite song is hard to decide between Madness, Turbulence and Love Story but I think Memory Loss takes the cake.
Depeche Mode Violator
Descendents Milo Goes to College
This album sprints up to you, already out of breath, screams that you are a muppet dickhead, hits you in the back of the head, and then sprints away again
Dinosaur Jr. You're Living All Over Me
Obviously influential and this shit FUCKS but I just can?t get into it this time around
Dio The Last In Line
Dodie Intertwined
It probably isn't objectively a 4, but when you're in just the right mood, nothing hits like dodie
tbh
Domestic Terminal All The Stories Left To Tell
I want to compare this with so many things that it seems more appropriate to admit that it?s unique in that way. It?s personal, heartfelt and often lyrically crushing. Favourite track, probably Koi Pond, but it could be any of them honestly
Duster Stratosphere
Elephant Gym Work
Very solid, honestly thought it would be more popular on here when I started listening to it, it?s like a neo soul math rock-ish EP without a single dead track, was actually very pleased by it. Kinda like if L?indecis had a more progressive and complex taste, anyway give this EP a go I think it?ll be really hard to dislike.
Elliott Smith XO
Elliott Smith Needle in the Hay
Needle in the hay is the best track from the full length, but I would?ve included clementine and st ides heaven
Elvis Presley Elvis Presley
tell you what this won me right over, some tunes on here, and obviously a legacy factor
Emerson, Lake and Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition
Emerson, Lake and Palmer Tarkus
Emerson, Lake and Palmer Brain Salad Surgery
Emma Ruth Rundle Marked for Death
Erykah Badu Baduizm
I was on BOARD until the middle third ish. And the flip of Certainly is SO fire no doubt, brought me back on board for the close, and saves the experience when looking back at it imo.
Every Time I Die Radical
Being the highest rated album of the last five years or so I did expect something? not better, but like..? I seriously loved a couple songs and the refrain of WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON sticks right to you. That being said, it didn?t quite seem inventive enough to really stick it to me, and I do think that hardcore releases very seldom need to boast a 50 minute runtime, because at least sonically an untrained ear (like mine) will run out of nuances to find and pick apart. Either way, still a VERY solid album, just starts to feel less and less like an ?album of the decade so far? as it gets to the end
Exuma Exuma
Father John Misty Fear Fun
You know I?m tossing it up, because I really like a lot of the album. With time a 4.5 is absolutely not out of the question. I don?t really round up, I?d say like 4.3 though
Fightstar Grand Unification
You’re telling me a Busted wrote this Fightstar ???? Take a hike.
Fiona Apple When the Pawn...
Fiona Apple Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Five Pebbles forgetmenot
Woooo!! Someone finally put it on sputnik, this album is honestly just an enjoyable shoegazey romp. It doesn't haunt or overly move you, but it's not poppy trite, so 4 seems suitable. Dense, generally impressive, can be derivative but still leaves room for growth, and impressive growth at that
Fleet Foxes Fleet Foxes
Fleetwood Mac Fleetwood Mac
Flying Lotus Cosmogramma
Focus Focus II (a.k.a. Moving Waves)
I am a little slut for a good drum solo and I have known this for a while. However, I have only recently discovered what a little slut I am for a yodel call mid riff. Awesome songs here, not on the level of the goat of Dutch prog, To The Highest Bidder, but eruption certainly falls short of no one. Been too long since I sat down and listened to a side long song
Frank Ocean Blonde
1000th rating!! Oh and also: yeah I will give this time because I expect the songs I liked (Solo, Godspeed and some others) to really grow on me. As of now? 4.2/4.3
Frank Sinatra Where Are You?
Frank Sinatra Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely
Frederic Chopin Nocturne No. 20 in C♯ minor, Op. posth
Get real.
Fripp and Eno No Pussyfooting
Learning to code atm and this album has been making me feel like a digital little boy. Not to mention it?s at the true forefront of the ambient scene. Fripp never misses a trick, not now not ever
GAME FREAK Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver
This the best one fr national park theme is GAWGEOUS
Gary Wilson You Think You Really Know Me
Man I was thinking like what a unique combination of sounds, like the residents and xiu xius lovechild, and then I was like hmm what on earth is Donald fagen influence doing here and then I truly and utterly gave up on categorising. He has this really exciting and unnerving energy to his vocals, its very short and jumpy, every ?woo!? or ?hey!? kind of makes you shift in your seat in a really strange mixture of joy and uncomfiness
Gas Königsforst
Great music to stare at the sky to, thank you Gas for never disappointing. I kiiiind of prefer Pop I think Pop has more of a natural ambience to it which I really love, but both very solid for study, sleep, vibin, you know how it is.
Gentle Giant The Power and the Glory
Gentle Giant In a Glass House
Gentle Giant Three Friends
Gentle Giant Gentle Giant
Filled with little quirks and gems, this blend of progressiveness and danceability makes them the scrunkliest boy of prog, second only to Hatfield and the North
Gil Scott-Heron Pieces of a Man
Very tasty, surprising how filled 1971 was with this exact concept, it?s almost like it was the predominant struggle in America back then. Weird guys over there.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞ [Vinyl]
Godspeed You! Black Emperor G_d's Pee AT STATE'S END!
Gong Flying Teapot
Gorguts Obscura
What a GAUNTLET this is. Hard to listen to because it?s just so brutal, but I loved it.
Rapturous Grief and of course the epic Clouded are great. Absolute chaotic evil
Gospel MVDM: Magick Volumes Of Dark Madder
I LOVE PROG GOSPEL I LOVE PROG GOSPEL I LOVE PROG GOSPEL I LOVE PROG GOSPEL anyway 4/5 with room to grow, as expected from a 20 minute track. Huge on the instrumentals, with interspersed lyrics every five minutes or so. If you don?t like this, you?ve gotta give it a couple more tries I promise you?ll see more in it to appreciate
Grant Kirkhope Banjo-Kazooie
Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction
Very good for what it is, and I may be underrating it here (was debating everything from a 3.5 to a 5 depending on the exact song I was on), but I literally felt like this was longer than Soundtracks For The Blind, if all you do is lump together mindless guitar wang for 53 minutes, I feel like its impact is gradually lost, which wouldn?t be a problem if it were 20 minutes shorter but too much is forgettable. Still some certified slappers though, an album with a few excellent songs.
Hans Zimmer Interstellar
Hans Zimmer Rango
Hatfield And The North Hatfield and the North
Hella Hold Your Horse Is
Absolute measured chaos, the best, wildest drumming I have listened to in a long time. Not hooking me immediately but you can tell with this kind of mathy anarchy that itll grow on you with patience, which definitely excites me
Henry Cow Leg End
trout mask replica for people who don't want to be aurally annihilated
Hiroyuki Sawano Attack on Titan
Hiroyuki Sawano Attack On Titan Season 2 Original Soundtrack
Horrendous Ontological Mysterium
I definitely knew I was in for something with The Blaze, which I loved, but man there are some incredible riffs and seriously intense moments on here. I definitely don't agree with them being the successors to Death, but Cult of Shado'oah makes that take not out of the question, INCREDIBLE song
Horse Jumper of Love Horse Jumper of Love
Howard Shore The Two Towers
Still incredible, in a vacuum a 4.5, but just reliance on leitmotifs pulls it down, even as amazing as they are. Worthy successor but not as inventive as the first
Howard Shore The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey
Iggy Pop Lust For Life
Really strong open, really strong end, but I do feel a little disconnected by the end of the album, and can?t even fully appreciate the songs at the end. Definitely feel the Bowie on this one, Tonight?s intro is straight out of the Ziggy Stardust era.
J Dilla Donuts
Same boat as Since I Left You, so much replay value is evident even on first listen, will def be a 4.5 in a few months if I give it the time of day it deserves
Jaco Pastorius Jaco Pastorius
Incredible musicianship this guy knows his SHIT on that bass. I will say I was not always hooked but when I was I was in the ZONE
Japan Tin Drum
Jeremy Soule Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Soundtrack
JID The Forever Story
Oh yep baby this is sick top 2 hip hop albums this year

John Williams Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope
John Williams Star Wars OST
Joy Division Unknown Pleasures
Joy Division Love Will Tear Us Apart
JPEGMAFIA LP! (offline)
I would say 4.2, gotta round down here. I cant in good faith say I believe this album needed to be an hour long. YES I understand what the offline version is about, and YES I stand by the statement that I was not hooked for its entirety. That being said, many many absolute bangers on here
JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown Scaring the Hoes
Danny Brown?s voice overstimulates me within a fraction of a second but I?m cool with it. Can rely on this rating going up, once I can wrap my head around ANY of this
Justice †
Phantom suite and Waters of Nazareth are just purely insane and brought this up immensely. Also nostalgic because of an undertale mashup but thats neither here nor there
Justin Hurwitz La La Land OST
Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Kanye West Late Registration
A spotty tracklist, I do personally believe songs or skits could?ve been cut to the album?s benefit. But most songs are real strong, Touch The Sky, Gold Digger, We Major, Roses were all strong to me. Better than mbdtf!!
Kanye West The College Dropout
Best Ye I’ve heard, I am considering a 4.5.
Kate Bush Never for Ever
Kate Bush The Kick Inside
Kate Bush The Sensual World
Kayo Dot Coffins on Io
This actively made me better at chess
KC and the Sunshine Band KC and the Sunshine Band
This things got some killer tracks on it man, especially get down tonight. Fonky as hell, recommended for all your dads
Keiichi Okabe Nier Automata OST
Can you guys stop hyping this game so crazily it is very good, as is the soundtrack, but about the music, I just feel like more impressive and innovative things have been done in previous soundtracks... sorry. Great game tho!
Kendrick Lamar Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers
Huge shoutout goes out to the second half of this album for absolutely saving Kenny?s skin
Khan Space Shanty
King Crimson In the Wake of Poseidon
King Crimson Islands
King Crimson THRAK
King Crimson Starless and Bible Black
King Crimson The Power to Believe
The best KC album that I've given a 4 to, if I could be more precise 4.2 or maybe 4.3 on a good day but we don't round up in this house
King Crimson Level Five
Definitely one of Crimsons heaviest tracks, just unsettling and vicious, love the glitchy mixing
King Crimson KC50 Series 1-50 [6CD]
This is an absolutely brilliant collection of KC works but sorry Jakko should not be on vocals for any of these (personal take) and any compilation is automatically worsened by the inclusion of Dinosaur I HATE this song for real. Just due to the rule that I rate compilations kinda lower, it'll be 4 not 4.5 but god I do not like a few renditions here. The rest are CLEAN
King Crimson The Condensed 21st Century Guide
STOP PUTTING DINOSAUR IN YOUR COMPILATIONS ROBERT PLEASE
Kitty Craft Beats and Breaks from the Flower Patch
This could be a 4.5 on pure prediction alone. This might be the most accurately ahead of its time album ive ever listened to you put the cute cat on the cover and out-TV girl at their own game 20 years in advance it?s amazing and Im being fully serious
Koji Kondo Super Mario Bros.
Koji Kondo The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony
Kristofer Maddigan Cuphead
Who the hell gives this a 2.5??
Lana Del Rey Ultraviolence
Lana Del Rey Paradise
Lana Del Rey Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd
Watch me bump this to a 4.5 I dare you. Two or three of her best songs ever, even if I didn?t really care for some of the others
Lana Del Rey Born To Die (The Paradise Edition)
Led Zeppelin Mothership
i like led zeppelin but i kinda as a rule dont rate compilations too highly, obviously filled with bangers but i think it fails in that the greatest hits can very easily be their simplest or frankly most uninteresting music, but that is the way compilation albums crumble i suppose
Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holy
Lil Yachty Let's Start Here.
Looks like Lil Yachty Awakened, His Love!
Lin-Manuel Miranda Hamilton - Original Broadway Cast
Little Simz Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
LSD and the Search for God LSD and the Search for God
Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125
Am I stupid. Genuine question am I stupid for not liking this as much as Rachmaninov, or even as much as his other work. I do not feel the intense joy or immense conflict this is so heavily praised for.
Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67
Beethoven got me messed up man he smothers the top of these charts but I just don't see it like I do with the rest of the top 200. 4.53? Surely not...
Machine Girl Gemini
Probably slightly less quality than wlfgirl but idc the front half is so good to me I was considering a 4.5 about ten minutes in, plus cloud99 is the best song ever made
Machine Girl WLFGRL
goes tuff
Machine Girl RePorpoised Phantasies
Nearly as good as wlfgrl !!! Getting breakcoreified
Martin O'Donnell Halo 2 OST & New Music Volume One
Steve Vai on this? Get real ong
Martin O'Donnell Halo 3: ODST OST
Marvin Gaye What's Going On
Great album, truly important art to be made, is it the best album of all time? Not really. Theres a Riot Goin On is not only an answer to this albums question, but also an answer that expands and embellishes what the question set out for.
Massive Attack Mezzanine
Massive Attack Blue Lines
Master Boot Record Personal Computer
Super good for sure and I love the style they go for, it feels like terraria boss music, 16bit metal deserves more time in the sun, but I feel that not every song here needs to be six minutes. It makes you tune out, which I feel is the last thing metal asks of you. It is a massively loaded (possibly bloated) album, but the songs are of course still excellent, awe-inspiring and very thrilling at their best. 80486SX gets a mention for being my favourite track (yes they all have names like that).
Matching Mole Matching Mole
It's just a funny album, man. Instant Pussy. Signed Curtain is one of the most conceptually stupid yet hilarious songs I've heard. It consists entirely of the singer just describing the structure of the song, and gradually becomes more confused and ridiculous. Love the Canterbury trend of making silly names for songs that are just a little packet of fun. Enjoy this album!
maudlin of the Well Part the Second
I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well I love maudlin of the Well (this is their most accessible album but that first track does not miss a beat it?s probably top 5 motw songs for me)
maudlin of the Well The Secret Song
One of their better songs without a doubt, but as a single I don?t think it warrants the 4.7 it has as I put this rating in
Megadeth Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?
Maybe deserves a bit of a higher rating but I?m happy with this, knowing how much stronger rust in peace is, track for track and as a whole experience. Devils Island is NUTS tho love that one
Metalgray Heavy Dose
Seriously exciting, a really cool blend of post hardcore, and more smooth, almost angelic sections (see Angel Dance), seriously energetic without skimping on any melodic focus. Vocals are intelligible for the most part too, if that?s something that you mind, (which I do)
Metallica Master Of Puppets
It?s an icon for sure, and welcome home sanitarium is transcendent, but I?m actually considering moving this down, not up. Songs like damage inc. are reeaaally in your face with a not so subtle message, delivered without much lyrical tact. The riffs are great - what did you expect - but weirdly not outstanding to me in the way that Rust in Peace or Paranoid are, so it falls behind for me
MF DOOM MM.. Food
This might be one of my new go to albums for sheeeeer vibes, MF DOOM really uses his flow like a percussion instrument every album he makes can be listened to first as an instrumental with rhythmic vocals, and then listening to the lyrics
Michael Giacchino Up
Michael Jackson Thriller
Not gonna lie I think I like off the wall more than this, this is still great but it?s not what I gave it credit for before
Michael Jackson Off the Wall
Michael Jackson Bad
Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells
Definitely an adventurous and great album at times, but I can confidently say I admire this album much more than I enjoy it. I know it is great, but I?m just more tickled by other prog of the era. Huge respect regardless, but I dont see this rating going up. Maybe like a 3.8
Mitski The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We
Now THIS is a mitski record babey. She just seems to have the more natural, acoustic sound nailed down better. Kinda like what Lana?s been doing recently! Still think ocean boulevard was better alas
Modern Life Is War Witness
Mort Garson Mother Earth's Plantasia
Mos Def Black on Both Sides
I can appreciate this album a lot for what it has to say, but knowing that black star came out like the year before puts into context how much Mos can put into concise project. Im really sure this did not NEED to be an hour and ten minutes. Brooklyn was the original sicko mode tho so props for that
Mother Mother O My Heart
Motoi Sakuraba and Yuka Kitamura Dark Souls III OST
Incredible how a game soundtrack can be so incredibly epic and sweeping and yet stay in your mind so briefly after the fact. I cannot summon a single theme to mind right now
Mount Eerie Lost Wisdom
Mount Eerie Dawn
4.2 or 4.3. I love how raw and honest he can get and he shows it so expertly on this release. One of my favourite artists of all time
My Bloody Valentine You Made Me Realise
My Bloody Valentine Tremolo
My Bloody Valentine EPs 1988-1991
Nas Magic
I will be seriously pissed if the best hip hop album of the year came out too late to be rated
New Order Blue Monday
New York Dolls New York Dolls
Nick Drake Bryter Layter
Nick Drake Family Tree
This is almost as authentic as pink moon, and there isn?t a moment that doesn?t add to the incredible rawness of this collection. I really, really recommend every Nick drake fan listens at least once through.
Ninja Sex Party The Prophecy
This album, just in all honesty, is their best. It loses the rough around the edges charm of their older albums, which doesn't play into the hands of their crude humour, but if you didn't hear the word dick or fucker every other line, or some other witticism, you'd forget it was a comedy album (not to say it isn't funny - it is - but the songs themselves are just SO good musically. Took a while to actually rate it after I listened to it, but I've gotten round to it now, thank God. Also the Mystic Crystal is just the most incredible, epic and impressive song released by a comedy band. Ever. I am entirely happy to begin an argument and die on that hill.
Ninja Sex Party Cool Patrol
Nirvana In Utero
Nirvana Nevermind
Nujabes Modal Soul
Oasis (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Panchiko D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L
Panchiko Ferric Oxide (Demos 1997-2001)
NeilSSong is actually the greatest piece of music I swear to god that song could cure the common cold and malaria, even better live.
Parliament Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome
Bruh they made prog funk?? Also flash light
Patrick Doyle Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Best Harry Potter best soundtrack to boot
Pearl Jam Ten
I think my problem was that I did not listen to this album loud enough, that might change the hype I get from this ??
Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother
I wonder if Alan is a fan of popular orange toast topping marmalade
Porcupine Tree In Absentia
Premiata Forneria Marconi Storia di un minuto
Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Does a whole lot for me except for when it doesnt. I can appreciate the influence but it?s very musically rigid, I guess? Not much room for experimentation which is fair but not my speed, but when it comes down to it the rapid is sheerly solid.
Purple Mountains Purple Mountains
Pusha T DAYTONA
Absolutely love the first half. Puff bars aged badly. Production is incredible. Push
Pyotr Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in Bâ™ Minor, Op. 23
This is just Close to the Edge before Close to the Edge came out but hey still pretty fire
Quadeca I Didn't Mean to Haunt You
This that guy that dissed KSI yeah yeah I have a parasocial relationship with him yeah yeah
Queen Greatest Hits
Queen Greatest Hits II
R.E.M. Automatic for the People
If you asked me to listen again tomorrow it could be a 4.5 easily, but I?ll stay conservative for now. Nightswimming is an immensely special song to me in particular
Radiohead In Rainbows
Ramones Ramones
Ride Nowhere
Monumental shoegaze album, better than souvlaki. Might be unpopular but that?s just how Im feeling right now.
Roar I Can't Handle Change
Rush Permanent Waves
Rush Moving Pictures
Worthy of a 4.5 but subject to demotion. I don?t care much for side 2, but side 1 is a damn strong showing. Very much renjoyed, but not on the level of 2112. I?d call this equivalent to Permanent Waves, slightly above though.
Ryo Fukui Scenery
Likely the best example of nailing the fundamentals and adding a personal twist, Scenery is really everything and more you could expect from a Japanese jazz record of the age
Santana Abraxas
ScHoolboy Q Blue Lips
This is a great album through and through. Maybe through my own broken attention span, I was trying to stay locked in but it didnt really click like that. I think Vince Staples has this beat for rap aoty, not least for the virtue of brevity.
Sebastian Hardie Four Moments
Openings is just such a prog classic, glad the rest of the album holds up too. Getting back in my prog bag babey
Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
Shadow Academy Shadow Academy
This is maybe the best project Dan has ever embarked on. Production excellent, songwriting is very very solid (if
occasionally predictable, but that’s not to the album’s detriment) but of course Dan’s voice is the standout, whether due
to the nostalgia or factor, or because it just gets better and better. Considering a bump up but I’ll give it time.
Sigur Ros ( )
I think the last 3 songs really save the album for me, I was taking a little while to get hooked. Untitled 3 is quite good though definitely. I do think it will grow on me, but while I have agætis byrjun idk how often I would return to this one
Slowdive Souvlaki
Sly and The Family Stone There's A Riot Goin' On
I must not have been in the ?right mood? but I loved a few tracks here, but ultimately I just do not see the ?top 100 albums of all time? accolades this thing receives. If you want a stronger conceptual theme around this, there?s Marvin Gaye, and in my opinion, Parliament are a go to for funk an echelon above this. Very interesting and influential combination and album though, without a doubt, and still absolutely fantastic
Small Faces Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake
Songs are exceptional, feels like the moody blues got kidnapped by a cockney gang. Not huge on the narration but it?s a strong concept if you choose to view it that way
Snoop Dogg Doggystyle
Beats are sick OBVIOUSLY, first half fucks way harder but eventually youre just like put it back in your pants man

Soundtrack (Video Game) Bloodborne (Original Soundtrack)
oh my god a souls game with orchestra and choirs singing at me!!!!! finally!! powerful but not innovative
Soundtrack (Video Game) World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
imo the most epic expansion along with the wrath of the lich king, deathwing is just so cool. anyway excellent soundtrack to boot
Soundtrack (Video Game) World of Warcraft: Wraith of the Lich King
big epic music epic expansion but pretty sure its Wrath not Wraith... i might be having a moment of lunacy
Soundtrack (Video Game) EarthBound
Love loads of these songs. But oh man please some of these songs need to be removed, they make me so annoyed. Inside The Dungeon??? What are you doing????
Spellling The Turning Wheel
Convinced me onto its side a few songs in. I would understand that fantano 10 if it didnt have those two first songs that just GRATED against my ears. Could not get the vocals. But shes just trying to pick up what Kate bush dropped off imo, and one of these days it MIGHT just work
Squid Bright Green Field
Steely Dan Can't Buy a Thrill
Steely Dan Countdown to Ecstasy
Steely Dan Aja
Steely Dan Pretzel Logic
I want to give a steely Dan a 4.5 because they?re so consistently good but some of the songs are here are minute-and-a-half ditties which can be a lot of fun but I can?t say they elevate the album as a whole. Night by Night is unbeLIEVABLE though, so swings and roundabouts. Still a VERY enjoyable listen
Steve Hillage Green
Stevie Wonder Talking Book
Truly groovy album, and it?s all perfectly serviceable, but Superstition is otherworldly, as is my new favourite Stevie Wonder song Maybe Your Baby
Sufjan Stevens Javelin
Kissing a 4.5 delicately on the bracelet and shoulder blades. Better than Carrie and Lowell as far as I am concerned, as sad as I am that that is the benchmark at all!!
Sunny Day Real Estate How It Feels To Be Something On
Honestly liked Diary a bit more but I?ve noticed a trend of ?throw the three best songs you?ve ever heard onto the very front of the album?. The rest of the album also obviously holds up, but as I say Diary just resonates more with me
Supersister To the Highest Bidder
Swans To Be Kind
Syd Barrett The Madcap Laughs
Talk Talk The Colour of Spring
I love mark Hollis I love mark Hollis I love mark Hollis
Talking Heads Talking Heads: 77
Talking Heads More Songs About Buildings and Food

OH MY GOD SOMEBODY HELP REVOLVER IS DROWNING IN REVERB
Tears for Fears Songs from the Big Chair
Cover bad songs good
The Antlers Hospice
The Avalanches Since I Left You
Better than most 4s, not as good as most 4.5s... Tough call.
The Beach Boys Pet Sounds
The Beach Boys The Smile Sessions
The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles The Beatles
The Beatles 1
The Beatles Help!
Really REALLY classic songs on this one, the start of a new era for the Beatles in my opinion. Considered knocking it down to 3.5 because of how utterly hilariously shite the pacing is from Yesterday to Dizzy Miss Lizzy. Yesterday nearly made me cry but then mocked me for daring to feel emotion at a Beatles track by blasting the most annoying riff they've ever written. Still good stuff though.
The Crimson ProjeKCt Live in Tokyo
Again Indiscipline proves it?s the highest step up a live performance can be, I do not know why indiscipline always shows tf up but it always does. Very discipline and THRAK heavy, no problem with that though! A really good live performance, with highs and lows on some of the vocals, but the drumming is manic, the guitars are tight, and the vibes are immaculate, good stuff
The Cure Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
The Cure The Head on the Door
Probably the most variety I’ve heard in a Cure album that is as commercial as this, and to its absolute credit too, very
enjoyable listen, as well as very accessible; a great gateway to an album like Pornography with songs like Sinking and
The Baby Screams
The Cure Seventeen Seconds
Very much the definition of what the cure would come to be known for (with the exception of the polar opposite ALSO cure). Can?t believe I hadn?t rated it already but I love this album as a stepping stone, which is both happy and sad. Great album though
The Lemon Twigs Everything Harmony
The last half of this album chews up and spits out the first half in quality, but I really enjoy the revivalism I think it?s done well. Not necessarily the most distinct sound but it does it well. If this album had come out in the 70?s it would have like a 4.1 on here at least.
The Mars Volta De-Loused in the Comatorium
This album cannot decide whether it wants to be a coked up Larks Tongues or not and I kinda like when it explodes into the free motion. Great album but can fall victim to apparent aimlessness. 4.5 isn?t far away though
The Microphones It Was Hot, We Stayed In The Water
The Microphones Two Songs by the Microphones
These are so good but this literally comes out to 5 minutes. It?s a special case because they?re grounded far more in humanity than the nature in The Glow Pt 2 and far more in the concrete than the abstract and conceptual Mount Eerie. Very interesting sweet spot that I?m sad Phil never explored with a fully realised album
The Microphones Don't Wake Me Up
The Moody Blues To Our Children's Children's Children
The Moody Blues Seventh Sojourn
Let me tell you something I think this is actually severely underrated on another listen. Not a single bad track, with a standout closer and probably the most accessible ?prog? in the genre, if you can even say it goes far enough to be prog by 1972, when close to the edge was on top and lizard had already had some time in the sun. I have a real soft spot for the moodies and they really did not slip up here. Masterclass for the bass too, and happily gets his own, ICONIC line on the closer. Could be pushed to even a 4.5, probably my third favourite moodies album
The Moody Blues A Question of Balance
The Moody Blues On the Threshold of a Dream
Admittedly a slightly flabby middle third, but the start and end are VERY strong, the have you heard suite (as I now dub it) is the best moodies content since Lunch Break (Peak Hour) or The Night. Probably their third best album, after days of future passed and lost chord, and just ahead or contending with to our children?s children?s children.
The Mothers of Invention We're Only in It for the Money
Unbelievably political and absurdly wise for what is at face value one of the stupidest things you?ve ever heard. Musically for me it doesn?t cross the boundary FULLY from weird to excellent, like trout mask replica or even hot rats, but still highly rated for its profundity and timelessness
The National Boxer
The Postal Service Give Up
I didn?t care for the first half but it picked up steam quite quickly, I imagined I got accustomed to the clicks and beeps that were kinda off putting on first listen
The Residents Duck Stab
I thought these guys were supposed to be the next Beatles
The Residents Buster & Glen
This is just as good as Duck Stab man. Fight me fight me but krafty cheese and Hello Skinny and The Electrocutioner back to back to back is nuts and you?re alllllll wrong
The Rocky Horror Picture Show The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed
The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
I may be in the minority but I preferred the second half. Anyway this was banger with a bit of filler, favourites were Zero and Thru the Eyes of Ruby
The Smile A Light For Attracting Attention
The Smiths The World Won't Listen
There Will Be Fireworks Summer Moon
I really wanted to give this a high high rating because I LOVE when an album pops up with a 4.2 or higher, it really excites me, But I just could not give this a 4.5. I still really enjoy it, but I would be lying to myself if I said the lyrics were the most profound or relatable to me, and the songs didnt feel like they obeyed a pretty straightforward indie formula, which they do fantastically in a vacuum, but it just isnt for me anymore. Regardless I loved the album, but I dont think its one of the albums that i would give a 4.5 to from this year.
Timbuk 3 Greetings From Timbuk 3
bumping from a 3.5 to a 4 because there are actually lots of tracks I enjoy. No bullshit from me, on my good mother's name I prefer this to The Queen Is Dead, literally from the same year.
Toby Fox Deltarune Chapter 1 OST
Toby Fox Deltarune Chapter 2 OST
Todd Rundgren Something/Anything?
For certain an overlong project with simply perplexing inclusions, but also one of the most inspiring and down-to-earth projects for people who want a crash course in songwriting
Tony Rice Church Street Blues
Am I actually fucking tweaking or did country have the biggest fall off of all time?? Like every country album I have heard rfrom before like 2010 are complete masterstrokes? I want to sit out by the fire and watch the canvas of stars roll over a dusty open plain listening to someone playing this for me. Country is transcendental UNTIL THE LABELS REALISED rHOW MUCH MONEY THEY COULD MAKE FROM A SOUTHERN CONSERVATIVE DEMOGRAPHIC BEGGING FOR rNOSTALGIA. Not to take away from the sound of the album which is fantastic but maybe I am giving it too much credit rbecause I just looked into it and discovered that almost all these songs are covers or standards.
Trophy Scars Astral Pariah
Tyler, the Creator Chromakopia
At some point, regardless of the strengths of individual songs, I am struggling to feel fondly towards the complete tonal
whiplash that is so prevalent it MUST have a purpose. The songs themselves are so strong. Like Him is sheerly powerful,
Thought I Was Dead is my favourite song since Gone Gone / Thank You, Balloon has some gorgeous instrumentation,
and I really can go on. But Judge Judy just makes me think like? why include this? He goes on to reprimand himself on
the beautiful Take Your Mask Off, but then why include the somehow more tasteless version of Darling Nikki? Sticky and
Hey Jane get the message across FINE! And theyre both actually good! Anyway, I ramble on. The strength of the
individual tracks is possibly his greatest showing to date, with one glaring exception, but as a conceptual whole (which
Tyler has always had a great knack for), it somehow falls flatter. Still better than cmiygl, but 3rd best of his last four, and
I dont see it rising those ranks, though I do expect my opinion to grow on more relistens
U.K. U.K.
Ulrich Schnauss A Strangely Isolated Place
Honestly Im seeing a lot of people palming this off but I genuinely really enjoy the vibe. Maybe a 4.2/3??? I don?t know man, super liked it
Van Morrison Moondance
On a similar wavelength to many, very strong first half, doesn?t have much to look forward to later in the album. Glad tidings is pretty good. Just falls a bit short for me, hoping astral weeks doesn?t disappoint!
Vanilla Fudge Vanilla Fudge
Various Artists Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Venom Black Metal
Very enjoyable very influential, even if I gotta say I?m not like MEGA impressed in a vacuum by any aspect of the music, I was thoroughly entertained
Viagra Boys Cave World
Vince Staples Dark Times
How the fuck is this shit on a 3.5 rn. This is rap album of the year can you guys not just fucking appreciate a tight, conceptual album? This is dark and super deep texturally. Fantastic album dude just great. What am I missing that makes it a 3.5?!
We Broke the Weather we broke the weather
Reserving higher rating for future listens or potentially the next album. Very good first album, ESPECIALLY Fire Season onwards is just unbelievable, but I?m not feeling the love for the first half, except maybe the opener. If they can find their own new sound while keeping the energy, I?m super excited to hear the next release
Weather Report Heavy Weather
Weather Report Weather Report
Weezer Everything Will Be Alright in the End
Weezer deserved a fucking shredding ass medley I love the trilogy at the end
Wilco Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
I think this will grow on me in the same way that Emergency and I did, that is to say not at all for months and then I?ll find an ear worm and love the whole album at once. I?m a sucker for a good story but I think it was on me for not being in the right headspace for the album, so I will revisit
Wings Band on the Run
X Japan Art of Life
Xiu Xiu A Promise
I can absolutely see where this shines, but call me back when I have my next absolute and total psychotic break, and then maybe we can arrange a relisten. (Was between a 3.5 for how I first felt, and 4.5 for like my second listen, but really I am not doing this to myself again sorry it has to be another 4)

Yugo Kanno Golden Wind: Finale
Bro Cavaliere and Fine Della Vento Aureo are just chefs kiss but yeah watch the anime it enhances the soundtrack, and the other way round too
Yugo Kanno Golden Wind: Overture
i agree with the other don il vento doro slaps but dont overlook stuff like alba or the timeless tune that is canzoni preferite
Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer
Absolute king of guilty pleasure albums. "Plays pretty for baby" yeahhhh it goes off. Basically imagine an album filled with songs that feature in every feel good summer flick in the 2000s, but they're actually mostly quality and none of them really make you hate yourself.
Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer Schematics
Bordering on a 4.5, I think this is possibly their best, and I really enjoy just the good energy it brings to the table. As far as cutesy pop punk goes, they?ve really never missed

3.5 great
Adele 21
Alan Hull Pipedream
More like a 3.2 it?s pretty middle of the road for me at least, but Ive got to uphold the critical success of the prog folk genre
Alexandra Savior The Archer
Amazing Rhythm Aces Too Stuffed to Jump
Really solid first half, and a strong finisher, but often fails to hold attention for a consistent effort. If you like the idea of Bruce Springsteen or Lynyrd Skynyrd getting stuck in Bikini Bottom, this is for you.
Anamanaguchi Endless Fantasy
Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion
Blooooooop beep bipbipipipipipip that bit was pretty cool very fun album but I do not really get why /mu/ loves it so damn much
Aphex Twin Come To Daddy
STOP CLAIMING THEYRE POLYRHYTHMS THIS MAN IS UNWELL
Arctic Monkeys Favourite Worst Nightmare
Artificial Brain Artificial Brain
A forty five minute burp with the hardest riffs in years. Won't pretend I understand the lyrics, and I wont pretend I know whether that protruding turret on the album cover is facing towards or away from me. But I will say that it's fuckin badass. EDIT: damn the drama at the oscars really fucked up will smith whats he doing here??
Asia Alpha
Why are people ripping into the second half of this album midnight sun slaps (
Asian Glow and Weatherday Weatherglow

This is literally the funniest album ever looking back on it, only deserves a 3.5 but come on look at that funky monkey

This defined a feminist movement? I did not know that. And like good for them what a play but whyyy?. I guess if the sex pistols could do it so can these guys

Black Country, New Road Sunglasses
Black Country, New Road Athens, France
Black Midi Cavalcovers
What in the world is this collection of songs. I mean they?re all good ass songs and I enjoy them but how the hell did they settle on these three on an EP.
Blur Parklife
the start and end are Very Quite strong and the middle? hm.
Boygenius the record
Hey I know exactly who would love this album!! it is not me but it?s alright and I see the appeal, so credit where its due
Boz Scaggs Silk Degrees
Some funky cuts some balladry, a little something for everybody that we can all agree isnt a home run. Great at what it does for certain!
Brian Eno Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks
Not my favourite of his forays into ambient music, and I cannot put my finger on why. Still too influential to ignore, and a worthy pioneer of the genre, just doesnt scrape the heights of something like Evening Star or Phaedra
Camel Rain Dances
Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band Mirror Man
Carly Rae Jepsen Emotion
Charli XCX Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also...
Its still fine but like without exception, every song is worse than its original version, so on that basis this might be the most generous 3.5 I will ever give. I love that the new mean girls leans into the piano bit (the best bit of the whole original album) but then Julian fucking casablancas has the weirdest performance ever. Anyway still worth listening to? But NOT EVER over the original.
Charlotte Adigery and Bolis Pupul Topical Dancer
Childish Gambino Bando Stone and the New World
No doubt this man can produce a great sounding album but the songwriting simply doesnt fascinate the ear or the mind. I really wanted to love this, and I DO love moments of it, see Yoshinoya, but across the board its just better than okay
Cosmo Pyke Just Cosmo
This is some pretty good stuff here but after Rex Orange County blew through with this style I?m just kinda not feeling it so much. Subject to go down due to personal bias but I have to appreciate it in a vacuum and it IS pretty good
Daft Punk Robot Rock
David Bowie Legacy
Where is Moonage Daydream or Rock n' Roll Suicide? It's almost a shame that he is such a great artist with so many hits, because it means so many other great tunes get snubbed, still most of these are good songs. MOST.
Declan McKenna Brazil
Def Leppard Pyromania
Not mega adventurous but what I will say is I actually did quite like it in the moment
Denzel Curry Melt My Eyez See Your Future
This is seriously so good - nothing utterly mind-blowing, and it loses some momentum in like the middle third, I'm not a fan of the three track run from Troubles through X-Wing, but the Smell of Death picks it up seriously for the last third. It's filled with mostly very VERY insightful lyrics about Denzel himself, and those lyrical moments are easily the strongest on the album but while his lyricism is for the most part intelligent, I got taken out of the music by some REALLY childish bars. I'm cold like the Arctic? It struck me harder than a bow and arrow? I mean - yeah man. But in focusing on the negative, I only affirm with myself the immersion and efficiency of the rest of the album. 2022 has been an incredible year for music, and its not even April.
Dire Straits Brothers In Arms
Donald Fagen The Nightfly
I cannot describe to you how hard I just CHILLED rn
Emerson, Lake and Palmer Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Eminem The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)
I actually really love what the album is trying to do so much that I am willing to occasionally overlook what it actually does. For the most part the best ive heard him in a long time
Everything Everything Raw Data Feel
feeble little horse Girl With Fish
For sure a little brain scratcher I can understand the love, but steamroller was the only song that really hooked me hard, but still enjoyable all the way through. I know there?s a fantastic album yet to be reached with this sound though so I AM hopeful
Fleetwood Mac Tango in the Night
Flying Lotus Yasuke
This is for a SHOW?! This kinda fucks okay okay okay
Frank Zappa Sleep Dirt
I literally stumbled onto this one. It?s honestly fire ?
Frank Zappa Lumpy Gravy
I was considering a 4.5 about 8 minutes in, but the patience is not with me to listen to the podcast episode he just slides in. The mishmashing and chopping all those glorious little song bites works absolute wonders though, and it may well deserve a higher rating, but you really cant be blamed for not having the attention span to listen to half an hour of it.
Frederic Chopin Fantaisie In F Minor, Op. 49
fun. Some Nights
bangers only - king of nostalgia albums, this is a GREAT album man
Future 56 Nights
March Madness and No Compadre go CRAZY and I?m not particularly accustomed to future and this style of rap but I don?t think I?ve nailed it down as much as some people seem to have done, with 5s being given and all
GAME FREAK Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire
Gas Narkopop
10 is especially hypnotising but for much of the album I feel Pop especially consistently delivers a more natural, soothing and ambient atmosphere.
Gas Zauberberg
Its pretty great but (and I know this sounds insane) Pop and Koenigforst just have like more distinct and fully realised sounds???? Still VERY relaxing, very good indeed, just not on that level
Genesis Nursery Cryme
I think the prog here is great and whimsical, but knowing what they go on to do just betrays this effort a little more. Still great! Especially the first and last tracks
George Michael Faith
Ghost (SWE) Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic
Giles, Giles and Fripp The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp
I have never heard Robert Fripp make music with a smile this is simply bizarre

Goldfinger Hang-ups

Great songwriting, I think it has become blindingly clear that I am not the target audience. I guess, for the time, I can see how it became a classic in time, and I will maybe raise my rating after a few more listens of my favourite tracks which I have picked out, namely Sugar Magnolia which is pretty bomb
Hall and Oates The Very Best of Daryl Hall & John Oates
Henry Cow In Praise of Learning
Howard Shore Se7en
Incredible incredible movie, but the soundtrack to me doesn?t do it any great favours, though it compliments the dynamic between the killer and detectives very well especially at the end
Howard Shore The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Soundtrack
Howard Shore The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
As a whole doesn?t quite live up to LOTR, with the strongest themes and melodies in the first, and then mostly riding off of those themes for the subsequent movies. Still far above average because come on its Howard Shore
Immolation Acts of God
Graaaaaahhhh more religion but this is the first immolation I?ve heard, and probably the most fitting death metal vocals I?ve ever heard. Love that he goes like ?guh? after almost every verse it?s very atmospheric
Imperial Triumphant Spirit of Ecstasy
Hooooooooooooly shittttttt
INXS Kick
Taking away points because they?re filthy aussies
J.K. & Co. Suddenly One Summer
I am a Sucker for albums that play out cyclically, and the end of Dead is a nice touch, and probably a pioneer or early adopter of the trend!!! Was not overly impressed but definitely pulled a few tracks to stick to!
Jack White Fear of the Dawn
James Ferraro Far Side Virtual
This is like GOOD but the real fun is listening out to see how many little tidbits and reference nuggets you can catch in that way it might be the most fun album ive listened to in the last few weeks
Jamie Cullum The Pursuit
Jeff Rosenstock HELLMODE
Bro this was fantanos album of the year last year. I guess thats what were doing then
Jeremy Soule Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Soundtrack
Jimi Tenor Higher Planes

Award for most aptly named album goes to ...
Joe Hisaishi Kiki's Delivery Service
Joshua Fit For Battle To Bring Our Own End
JPEGMAFIA I Lay Down My Life For You
LOVE the hitters on this album but like the entire last third of the album is a bit of a snoozer. It also is becoming increasingly laughable when an artist writes a little self-aware candid ?offscreen? talk with the producer or themselves or whatever. Really hating that, especially after a mediocre songs where you list your problems with a flow that I would come up with. First half is fire, and falls off slowly. Still worth listening to
Kanye West Yeezus
On a first listen: pacing is unbelievably incongruent, Blood on the Leaves is immaculate, and Bound 2 is probably my favourite Kanye west song hate me man call it crap call it overrated but god fucking damn I love Bound 2. For the rest of this album Kanye was very much just trying to prove he could out-weird mbdtf, kinda like kid A if thom yorke had absolutely no sense of respect for listeners
Kanye West Graduation
GOD DAMN IT KANYE FOR GODS SAKE WHY CANT YOU JUST MAKE AN ALBUM GOOD THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH WHY DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE LIKE A THREE SONG RUN ON LIKE EVERY ALBUM WHERE I JUST TUNE OUT ???? Anyway homecoming is a classic wow who would have thought Chris Martin had it going on like that
Kate Bush Lionheart
Kate Bush The Red Shoes
I love Kate bush and she can do no wrong and this is underrated on Sputnik in my opinion. Obviously has duds, and it?s the first album she released that I do not think is ahead of its time, in fact it may be behind the times, but there is still so much to dig here.
Kids See Ghosts Kids See Ghosts
King Crimson Three of a Perfect Pair
King Crimson Happy With What You Have To Be Happy With
King Geedorah Take Me to Your Leader
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Omnium Gatherum
The Dripping Tap is just amazing, and I love a good few other tracks, but man. Is this album long as hell or what
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava
I do not feel spoiled anymore.
Klaatu 3:47 Est
Genuinely thought this was gonna be a 5 from the first half of the album. It?s just really solid rock throughout the first half and it drags by the second half, plus Sir Bodsworth Rugglesby III is the most confusing addition to this album I?ve ever seen. Still very great and a very entertaining listen, if not consistent.
Knocked Loose Laugh Tracks
He bark like tha dawg he got in him
Koji Kondo Super Mario World
It's got some tunes but it really can't even be compared to OoT, I think some people's nostalgia boners have been giving this soundtrack the reception they should've been giving the (admittedly amazing) gameplay.
Koji Kondo Majora's Mask Orchestrations
Songs are obviously still great but it loses a lot of the creepy uncanny feeling that makes MM's atmosphere so effective
Kylie Minogue Fever
Lana Del Rey Born to Die
Lil Nas X Montero
Lil Uzi Vert Pink Tape
I was feeling a 4 at some points and a 2.5 at others. Like literally what the hell is this dude on anyway they?re the shit they have no control of their bowels
Lingua Ignota SINNER GET READY
Lyrics were super intense and I did enjoy it, but the music just didn't complete what the lyrics achieved, except in IT IS I WHO BENDS THE TALL GRASSES that one is fire. Very little replay value on this one, but if I want to be cosmically and religiously petrified, I'll give it another whirl
Little Beaver Party Down
Graydon did not disappoint, this is a neat little soulful project. Let?s Stick Together is an absolute essential as far as I am concerned. 7.5/10 in my books, but gotta be a 3.5 on that basis
Little Simz Stillness In Wonderland
Very exciting and interesting arrangement on some tracks here, and it reminded me not a small bit of flower boy, which I love, so this album and its release date were definitely an intriguing discovery for me
Little Simz No Thank You
It?s all Smooth, I love Angel and No Merci but it feels a bit disjointed when I know she has the capacity for a really conceptually strong album, which I am 100% a sucker for. It is an overused but apt comparison to compare it with untitled unmastered
Lush Spooky
Macabre Plaza An Old Smile
Kind of underrated?? it?s just elevator music to be honest with you
Machine Girl ...BECAUSE I'M YOUNG ARROGANT AND HATE EVERYTHING
Manu Chao Clandestino
Not for me, but I did love how creatively the album flows together in some places
Maroon 5 Songs About Jane
Men at Work Business as Usual
Metro Boomin Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (soundtrack)
But the movie is literally a 10/10 its not even close
Michael Giacchino Spider-Man: No Way Home
Michael Giacchino Incredibles 2
Michael Jackson Number Ones
Mika Life in Cartoon Motion
Miles Davis Bitches Brew
Guyyyssss it isnt clickinggggggg what happens nowwww???? From September 16 2022. Edit from July 2024: Brother i
have TRIED and it feels like it has only become more meandering and slight in comparison with other miles Davis, which
has grown on me immensely, like in a silent way for example. Which puts this in a pack.
MIMIDEATH Effective. Power
These guys just be doin shit and it?s really funny but if youre in a bad mood this is the worst EP youll ever listen to
Muse Black Holes & Revelations
Natalia Lafourcade De Todas las Flores
Definitely requires some patient listening, almost best for when you just want to drift away. Features many beautiful songs too, but that being said, each song could easily have accomplished its mission in 3-4 minutes as opposed to 6-7.

Frank Ocean and Tom Odell had a little kissy and made a sad, introspective lovechild. Admittedly can feel basic or plain, but so emotional that you?re likely not to care
Olivia Rodrigo Sour
OneRepublic Native
Ornette Coleman The Shape of Jazz to Come
Listen. Its good. I know I would like it more on a second or third listen. But I am happy to sit on one listen and just say Yep That Is a Good Jazz Album and be done with it for now.
Panchiko D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L
Derivative doesn?t automatically mean horrible. There are good ideas here and the lyrics are especially dark, they even sound like they could?ve been written today. Still not the most exciting thing your ears will ever catch, but worth it if you?re in on the scene
Panchiko Failed at Math(s)
Just saw these guys live, this doesnt do the live show justice. Amazing performance, but I just Like this album; I dont Love it
Pink Floyd The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Queen News of the World
Radiohead The Bends
Radiohead Hail to the Thief
Raleigh Ritchie You're a Man Now, Boy
Kinda top heavy, begins to drag near the end but the TUNES at the start are almost the height of introspective modern RnB/hip hop, only improved by his next album Andyr
Raleigh Ritchie Andy
Red Hot Chili Peppers Blood Sugar Sex Magik
A collection of above average songs with a few real slappers, but for the run time of the album I definitely don?t understand the reverence in which this album is held
Ronnie Foster Two-Headed Freap
Came for Mystic Brew, stayed for KFC and Summer Song the absolute bangers
Rush Rush
Salvia Palth melanchole
Everyone loves I was all over her but melanchole is the best song on here, honestly. And it was made by a 15 year old so big ups for that, maybe a four when I come back to it next
Shygirl Club Shy
Mr useless is the most fire geometry dash song ever. Mute was a bit stinky but you cant win em all. This was fire though
Silk Sonic An Evening with Silk Sonic
two songs got better on relistens... the rest got a little frustrating honestly
Sister Sledge We Are Family
Sisyfuss You’ll Find It In The End
If you want to get someone into Weatherday without necessarily assaulting their ears, get them to listen to this. I wish it were longer, is all, but it sounds pretty solid from a songwriting perspective
Skullcrusher Quiet the Room
Soft Machine Volume Two
Soft Machine The Soft Machine
I gave this a 3 before??? Was I high??!! Its definitely not their best but Jesus man that is HARSH
Sonic Youth Goo
Will Toledo tried to be cool and honestly it is mixed results for a such a classic album, it is not unpopular to say but Daydream Nation stands head and shoulders above this, but I am still glad they took the musical left turn they did
Soul Dog Movin On
Second side really is a slapper, nothing unbelievably special in the first half but awesome fun

I?ve got a few songs on my playlist now, maybe I need to drop more acid but I think it went over my head this time, seemed a little like regular psychedelic. Above the likes of early Floyd but not something I was floored by, by any means. Good songwriting but not excellent certainly

Talk Talk The Party's Over
GOD I love the sound of that bass. And man this is solid album. Obviously not their best, better than It?s My Life to me at least
Talking Heads Naked
Very polarising soundoffs on this one... I'm leaning towards positive, might be a 3.7/3.8? There are some IMMENSE tunes on this one, Nothing but Flowers and Cool Water both stand toe to toe with almost any other Heads track. They've lost some of the vital energy they had on their debut and sophomore albums but the connections can still definitely be heard in Totally Nude and others. Great album, not their best but it stands weirdly close to Talking Heads in their prime
Taylor Swift 1989
Taylor Swift Folklore
The 1975 Being Funny In A Foreign Language
The Beatles Please Please Me
The Beatles Yesterday and Today
Good choices for this one. What a weird album cover. Anyway
The Beatles Rubber Soul
The Beatles A Hard Day's Night
The Beatles Let It Be
I do love a good few songs here but Paul wrote the only good ones here in my opinion. The Beatles were on top of the world and not even Revolution 9 had taught them not to be so unfocused, but this recording session, while showing the songwriting capabilities of McCartney, shows how unpolished the Beatles? later work could be, especially since this was left on the shelf and hurried out as the Beatles split. It?s basically a jam session, and not a thrilling one, but VERY beautiful at points (Let It Be, The Long and Winding Road, and I do have a sweet spot for Get Back)
The Icarus Line Penance Soiree
Unbelievably solid middle third but I just couldn?t get with either end of the record. Serious fire from tracks like 3 or 4 to like track 7 or 8.
The Jam All Mod Cons
The Moody Blues Every Good Boy Deserves Favour
Not as good as A Question of Balance but I still really enjoyed the first half. The second one dragged a bit.
The Notorious B.I.G. Greatest Hits
The Smiths The Queen Is Dead
Bigmouth and There Is a Light, HARD carries. Otherwise I really do not see what the fuss is about, I must admit this may be unfairly low because of the expectation I had built for it, so I will give it another chance later
The Smiths The Smiths
The smiths will really just put three bangers on an otherwise bland album and call it a day and you know what I am more or less okay with that. No reason to bother with this one in full though, just listen to Hatful of Hollow
The Stranglers La Folie
The Strokes Room on Fire
The Weeknd After Hours
The Who My Generation
Thirdface Do It With A Smile
Short sweet and to the point, and I like the lyrics I think, I just wish it had a bit more flesh
Twenty One Pilots Vessel

Whitney Houston The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album
Like these songs are all not bad, but the two that you definitely know, you definitely know for a reason. Head and shoulders above the rest. Still good though!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Requiem in D minor, K. 626
Yes Drama
Yes Going for the One
Yes Time and a Word
This is not superb but it?s perfectly enjoyable to a Yes fan (like myself), and I may even be more well disposed to it, hearing little nuggets of what their sound would become. Between a 3 and 3.5 but going with the latter on account of the aforementioned bias
Yugo Kanno Golden Wind: Intermezzo
i just feel like this one slopes off a little bit before the end really comes in swinging, still incursione is almost as good as the main theme. anyway weakest of the three parts but still strong

21 Savage american dream
He was doing fine and I was like okay this is exactly what I expected maybe even a little better!! First proper track is interesting and I am a fan of Travis Scott?s feature (surprisingly). Metro Boomin IS the blueprint for trap atp so that?s up to snuff I suppose, nothing mind blowing. But then in the last song and he says ?by the way go to school and be a good person but I personally will continue to kill, do drugs and steal girlfriends? and its FULLY genuine from what I can tell and that just sits so wrong. ANYWAY album was fine, final note is to tell rappers as a whole to stop doing toilet bars and rhyming them with the word shit? I be sittin on the toilet Im on top of my shit !!!!! Cool? Cool.

Ariana Grande Sweetener
Ariana Grande Dangerous Woman
Arlo Parks Collapsed in Sunbeams
Avenged Sevenfold Life Is But A Dream...
Listen I had never heard an a7x album before, so maybe I?m in a bad place to judge, but apparently their other music sounds nothing like this, and even though this is definitely sprawling, its also just kind of confusing and oddball without like a unique charm?? Still above average... sometimes. Very hard to rate
Bad Company Run With The Pack

Britney Spears Blackout
Bruce Springsteen Born in the U.S.A.

Pretty solid for 1966, but that year was so pivotal that it makes all but the first track look utterly childish
Chappell Roan The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
I enjoyed the quick poppier bits, but god I was removed from it by the slow songs, which really made it hard to decide whether I was dancing or sitting in silence. Confusing tracklist, but the poppy songs are awesome fun and promising

It's effective in the game, but very simple until the game's true atmosphere is revealed. The actual tracks are not bad at all, but just flowery and shallow, by design, but self-awareness doesn't make a song better intrinsically

Ed Sheeran x
Father John Misty Chloe and the Next 20th Century
Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits (Warner Bros)

By any sort of transitive property, you could assume that I enjoy rubber soul by the Beatles just one step up from this. And that is actually a fair assessment. Like these songs are just simply ass but they?re like all hitters at the same time, so put that in your pipe and smoke it idiot music nerd I am having so much fun
George Ezra Wanted on Voyage
For what he went on to do, this is just fine. I do like Blame It On Me and Cassy O, not massively but hey it?s not so bad!

Jack Johnson In Between Dreams
Joe Hisaishi Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
John Powell How to Train Your Dragon 2
John Williams Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
I think another classic case of the enjoyment of the movie being conflated with enjoyment of the soundtrack. Nothing in the soundtrack is remarkably ground-breaking as most of that revolutionary triumphant sound is captured already in A New Hope
Johnny Cash Songs of Our Soil

Listen. This is getting a 3 based on the first disc (because the tracklist on sput suggests this is that version). Some of it
feels like it should grab me more, like I really wanted to like Disco Infiltrator for being funny and weird but... just too
much I wasnt on board for. The songs also feel in some strange limbo where the songwriting and melodies are fun but
quite cookie cutter, and its too clinical to be loose and too loose to be clinical, walking a weird line between dance and
rock that I COMPLETELY understand the appeal of, but I think this one is just over my head for now. The second disc just
suffers when combined with the first, as the fatigue starts to set in halfway through the screaming on Tired. Good album
to some, just okay for me. Edit: on a revisit, rating is not changing for the first disc but the second disc has a few more
actually quite good songs. That does NOT justify 3 10ish minute songs in a row this is not a swans album. Good songs
that are overlong. Pretentious mix is better than original. 4 for the second disc, 3 for the first disc. 3.5 overall.
Lil Uzi Vert Luv Is Rage 2
Barely a 3 because it’s almost all filler but if you’re counting the deluxe, you get 20 min as well as XO so that makes the
album… worth a listen? Not really, but hey. Edit: don’t be surprised if I move this down
Los Lobos How Will The Wolf Survive?
Martin Denny Afro-Desia
Quirky as shit boy let?s go world music
Marvin Gaye Midnight Love
Merzbow Venereology
It is between 1/5 and 5/5, for sure, so I will give it a 3 for dead average and be on my way. It?s not like I?m coming back to this album to see if I?ve missed the full picture
Metro Boomin Heroes and Villains
Sounds great but all the features are just pretty much weak without fail? Morgan Freeman or someone comes on to get all philosophical and then Travis or 21 or Don Toliver will just jump on like ?I dont respect women so thank god I had daughters?. Thats a real fucking line dude. Walk em down would be my favourite if it werent 5 minutes long because it does, in fairness, sound amazing. Metro does some serious work here but it just gets dragged down by others. Praying for ambitious instrumental album?!?!?!
Michael Giacchino Spider-Man: Far From Home
Michael Giacchino Spider-Man: Homecoming
Mitski Laurel Hell
Its just there. Thats an ALBUM of collected songs by the artist called mitski. That is what it is. No other feelings.
Moor Mother The Great Bailout
Im torn. This album obviously illuminates completely horrifying truths about the recovery and fallout from the slave trade, especially in Britain and the topic deserves far more widespread attention. The execution just doesnt come across for me though, at all. The repetitive vocals and lower voice modulating and some of the more sinister ambience feels like textbook avant garde, if such a thing exists. The execution just feels cliche and meandering at times. Especially on the long songs. Death by longitude is my favourite song and even that suffers from the same criticisms: who builds death like this is an incredible concept to peel apart, but instead its layered and repeated over and over at different pitches. A good album which Im very grateful to be educated by, but as a musical expression I truly believe it leaves a lot to be desired. Probably 6.5/10, definitely still an album worth hearing.
My Bloody Valentine Feed Me with Your Kiss
My Bloody Valentine Glider
Nas Magic 2
The bars are fire unless they?re like? the one where he insightfully mentions that jam is a thing that goes on toast, and I will say this did convince me to try the kings diseases. This obviously isn?t a new take, itll probably actually bore the shit out of you, but the production and the vocal style just dont do it for me QUITE the same as the jazz sampling. Pistols on your album cover and What this all really means are GREAT though. Good album.

Talk Talk It's My Life
Renee is pretty good hey
Talking Heads True Stories
Many of the best moments of this just seem to be reinventing More Songs About Buildings and Food, but hey that album is pretty good so I?m not whining. Dream operator and Wild, Wild Life stand head and shoulders above the rest of the album for me, but if you?re looking for an album that delves into the depths of David Byrne?s haunting and cavernously deep mind, maybe stay very far away from this one. Better than little creatures, that may be an unpopular take but at least this album is musically more diverse, and it strays at least sometimes from the clutches of mainstream radio.
Taylor Swift 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Just a little worse than the original. Wildest dreams gets a fire new version, out of the woods still is ass, and Taylor swift is practically screaming in my ear that she does NOT want to keep performing shake it off
Tessa Violet Bad Ideas
Tessa Violet Maybe Trapped, Mostly Troubled

Music rocks hard as hell but listening to this right after lateralus really puts into perspective the immaturity and simplicity of the lyrics, which, unlike many projects, is not a credit to the music, especially since it?s Tool. No one that can write The Grudge writes Hush, really
TV Girl French Exit
You heard one song you heard em all man. Not to mention the lyrics bordering on nonsensical or obtuse, but like that is

I don’t care if the production is excellent (it is not it is interesting at best), you just cannot make me forget that ten
people died at his show and then he did a BLACK AND WHITE apology video then came on this album and makes like 5
bragadocious claims that his arenas need bigger capacity that shit is CRAZY. If he didn’t say a word on this album it’d be
like a 3.5 though, some beats are great, drake actually kinda kills it, sza was pretty good and westside gunn was a weird
choice for a Travis beat but it was actually my favourite feature, so. Gentle Giant sample AND funkadelic in the first song
had me so hyped, since the last album with a gentle giant sample I remember was literally madvillainy, my favourite hip
hop album ever, but then nothing lived up to the first song. Anyway fuck you travis

Falling in Reverse The Drug in Me Is You
Gary Glitter I've Got Sweets
If I weren't here then this knobhead would have 4.6. Please don't let this happen again go and fornicate all of yourselves for giving this a 5
Green Day Father of All Motherfuckers
I can give it a bit of respect based on the fact I?m PRETTY SURE it was just to get out of a record contract. Releasing a totally unlistenable dogshit album to fuck off your label is pretty fucking punk
Imagine Dragons Smoke + Mirrors
Imagine Dragons Mercury - Acts 1 & 2
I mean I AM upset but I’m wildly impressed by imagine dragons’ standards
Jack Harlow Come Home The Kids Miss You
Keep hating this is the best drake verse maybe ever I didn’t know he actually could do that. One Dance really kills your
brain. Anyway the rest of it is horribly annoying but pharrell is alright. Not as bad as mgk, because Jack Harlow is at
least somewhat self aware and he’s funny honestly I wish he’d just try and be a more down to earth personal type of
rapper like early Kanye or flower boy Tyler or something
Jessie J Who You Are
Jessie J Sweet Talker
I just wish she'd stop, it doesn't hurt but I'm asking you nicely to listen to something else

Katy Perry Ur So Gay

Lana Del Rey Lust For Life
Summer Bummer is literally the worst Lana song ever made I love this song TOO much. Sean Ono Lennon pretty cute tho
Lil Pump Lil Pump
Haters
Limp Bizkit Results May Vary
Any rating beginning with a 1 is unfair because the album is so honest about the deviation in the outcome of quality. There must be a phrase for that...
Logic Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
No but he raps so fast though
One Direction Up All Night
One Direction Made In The A.M.
Panic! at the Disco Pray for the Wicked
Pet Shop Boys Very
Just has no meat on the bones, I wish I could've enjoyed it more but it was so average, which is almost worse than being bad in my opinionr:/r
Queen Flash Gordon
Roger Waters The Dark Side of the Moon Redux
Hey sometimes it sounds good!! oh wait thats the bit that?s just ripped off from dsotm. Iced Earth ass narrative soundscape. If he werent TALKING so much about the same things he?s said a million times, itd be a 3.5 probably. It would be a good poetry book, but everyone knows that?s not what we?re here for
Soundtrack (Film) Home
The main song of this movie really gets on my nervous also Sheldon Cooper is annoying does this not bother anyone else

David Bowie Never Let Me Down
I did listen to this because for some reason my morbid curiosity draws me to listening through bad albums. Regardless, imagining Ziggy Stardust singing this was a mistake, very disappointed.
DJ Khaled Khaled Khaled
damn i really really hate this guy its literally the most bland overproduced music and no one seems to hate on him the same way they do to imagine dragons
Drake Certified Lover Boy
Drake Honestly, Nevermind
I HATE this. He is not a music artist anymore, this spits in the face of music AS art. Such
bottom of the barrel shite. :/ edit: fine Massive is okay. still sucks
Ed Sheeran No. 6 Collaborations Project
Elvis Presley Having Fun with Elvis on Stage
Okay hear me out. Not music. Therefore critically a horrible music release. HOWEVER. Elvis kinda got jokes and I feel like that should not be understated. Another note: I can?t believe I?m more drawn to low rated albums than high rated albums.
Falling in Reverse Fashionably Late
I'll be honest all I did was skim this but I am trying so hard to remember anything that this album did but I can only remember that it was pretty bad...

The Clash Cut The Crap
Yeah this sounds like a swamp fart and I dont actually know what theyre ever trying to get at. Anthem punk is literally the most oxymoronic thing in music, and thats exactly what Im hearing. Not mind meltingly bad, just so nothing that I could and would listen to almost anything else.
Tom MacDonald Deathreats

Coi Leray Coi
This is, honest to god, the exact thing I hate about modern music. Oh heres an old fun little song let?s just fuck with it
and make it totally tasteless in substance, as if this type of interpolation isnt tasteless enough. I can listen to bad albums
and enjoy them for what they are (green day as of recent) but man. Genuinely one of the only albums Ive ever heard that
I cannot stomach a single song from.

Getting absolutely incredulous basement dweller energy here. Don?t skim it don?t make the mistakes I did it?s just dumb it?s just stupid and dumb
mgk and Trippie Redd Genre : Sadboy
You cannot be that old and have those takes I genuinely dont think thats ever happened before with any person ever, and in a way its almost pioneering with how dead on arrival this album is
